Hunting animals is a literal human pastime. We've been doing this since before we could stand fully upright. I could even understand hunting on a reserve, or someone else's open land. Populations need to be culled, and pests removed. But dressing up like a Grenadier at a Pride Parade, on horseback as though the fox will ever outrun you or your hounds on a FENCED-IN property? Pure faggotry for no gain.

Fox hunts are in the same category as golf and polo/horse jumping/horse racing. I am experienced to talk about this

I live on a farm, in the south of the UK and a lot of my family are into this. Foxes are vermin like rats. They carry deadly diseases that kill livestock, they break into farms and kill livestock, eat crops and they are extremely violent and they can and will kill you if they get the chance. In England right now we are seeing a massive growth in fox numbers causing a lot of farmers out of money.

In 1945 the USSR made 50 StG44s from parts and confiscated 10,785 sheets of technical designs.
In October 1945, Schmeisser was forced to work for the Red Army and instructed to continue development of new weapons. He worked for them for 7 years, then died the year he moved back to Germany.
The early AKs were stamped, but came apart forcing the Russians to use a milled receiver.

I don't remember claiming otherwise on this, either, but there you go. The danger the animal offers is an irrelevance unless you're hunting big game. Most people in the northern hemisphere who hunt regularly do not hunt animals that are immediately dangerous.

I've hunted all sorts and have had a great deal of fun and adventure doing it. I'm not much of a hunter, though I am functional and capable enough to get by, and I do so for enjoyment. That might be down to personal fortune, but that's how life is.

I also enjoy skiing. Does it bother you that I prefer to ski in Zurs, where I have my own home, instead of heli-skiing in British Columbia where it is more dangerous?

I stated that I hunt them because I enjoy it. You began rambling about how I claimed foxes to be dangerous, which I did not, and then got on to what sort of person you think I am. Fox hunting is no different to most other popular forms of sport hunting, it is void of danger and takes place without environmental challenges.

You are aware that the wider public thinks worse of gun owners than they do fox hunters, aren't you? The Mirror may throw a fit about fox hunting, but anyone who owns a rifle or a shotgun is a far worse villain. I can't imagine how they would react if they knew the former are often guilty of the latter. Probably as you are now.

Not him, but probably because people are conflating it with pest control. Fox hunting is neither pest control nor hunting as most people in North America would understand it.

He, like most people, probably understands hunting to mean a solitary or small group exercise where significant likelihood of success is left up to chance. Practices like using spotlights or hunting from vehicles is often seen as unethical, and is illegal in many jurisdictions since it significantly increases the likelihood of success.

Fox hunting really isn't sporting under those paradigms, since you're stacking the odds in your favor with horses, dogs, and overall significant numerical superiority. Running animals down is really more similar to pest control- which is not sport.

However, he's also ignoring (or ignorant) that fox hunting is really more of a social event than anything- every hunt I've been to has just been an excuse to get everyone out riding, and most of the people don't really care whether anything gets caught.

If you're chasing down escaped manservants, maybe. Otherwise, you're just a tryhard with more attack dogs than chest hairs. Try actually stalking/observing/killing in a natural setting, with no fences or other animals to do your dirty work for you. You'll find that you're actually challenged because these animals are not only ACTUALLY dangerous, but you are going to THEIR territory, THEIR environment.
