Why don't modern bolt actions use stripper clips?
I mean really why not? that's like half the fun of a bolt action and the other is the bolt action itself.

Because most modern bolt actions have a bridge for mounting scopes over the entire length of the action
>>
>>33916509
Speed really. People like larping as military (/k/s hatred of Leverguns, for example.) and the military liks speed for reloads.
>>
>>33916522
This plus detachable box mags. Even rifles with the classic Mauser action nowadays use box mags, because it makes scoping the rifle so much easier.
>>
>>33916509
because deer don't shoot back?
>>
>>33916509
>Why don't modern bolt actions use stripper clips?

Stripper clips are only convenient when ammo comes on them out of the box.

More machining operations that will be rendered useless on the vast majority of guns because 96% of modern production bolt action rifles will have a scope on them.

Not to mention detachable magazines are standard.
>>
>>33916509
>>33916525
>>33916536

the Marines' M40 still have clip slot receivers.

their magazines are single feed AICS magazines, so they can't be loaded via clips.
>>
>>33916543
But why not just angle the magazine like on the zfk 55?
Plus there really isn't much machining.
Just add some stripper clip guides.

How the hell can they get away with 45,000 psi from a 9mm?
It's like 124 grains at 1500 fps and from a polyshit pistol nonetheless.

But damn do I want this ammo, too bad about the cucked laws regarding AP ammo.
>>
>>33916558
If true, that's retarded
If false, you're retarded

Which is it lad ?
>>
>>33916730

they're old receivers. the Marines keep upgrading them.

They're literally glorified Remington 700 receivers m8
>>
>>33916935
Yeah but they do have them. Pretty stupid though
>>

>LARPing as the military is the only reason to hate leverguns

The only leverguns that should be in modern production in any serious capacity are the Henry long ranger and the BLR, prove me wrong.
Pro tip: you can't.
>>
>>33917115
>The only leverguns that should be in modern production in any serious capacity are the Henry long ranger and the BLR, prove me wrong.

I like the Long Ranger and the All-Weather both. An All-Weather Long Ranger would be the ultimate modern levergun.
>>
>>33916509
they are too awkward
>>

It's fun to shoot rifles in handgun cartridges.
>>
>>33917115
if i cant shoot the same clown car ammo out of my obsolete wheelgun that i use in my corebean that i dream of using like the Rifleman then i dont want to live
>>
>>33916509
Because scout mounts are a pain in the ass
>>
>>33916509
How are they a pain? I mounted mine just like anything else, just further forward
>>33919273
The scout concept still uses them. My RGS has them. Never used them, not sure why I would but the option is there. If I didn't have a full mag and I wanted to be a bit quicker I suppose I could use it.
>>
>>33917115

I already have a full power bolt gun that punches <1moa groups.

Once you meet your immediate requirements with 3 or 4 firearms, guns are no more than a hobby, and hobbies are about fun. You either like space guns, or old black powder pieces, or both.
>>
>>33917115
Civilian firearm production is largely funded by hobbyists you larping retard.
>>
>>33916509
Unless your ammo comes on stripper clips, its pointless to insist on a stripper clip guide on a modern hunting rifle. You're just loading the rounds on a clip, to load in the rifle, when you could have just loaded the rifle.

Also, hunters aren't obsessed with speed reloads when they're firing 1 or maybe 2 rounds when they do shoot when hunting. They also aren't autistically obsessed with playing soldier and loading like it's fucking WWI.

And your idea of tipping the action like a Swiss zfk 55 is fucking stupid, because that still wouldn't appeal to hunters, just to autists that have to make everything as military style as possible.
>>
>>33916775
There's a thread every day or so where an autist claims they have no place in modernity, that only cowboy larpers want them.
>>
>>33917115

Aesthetically I prefer the USGI Magazines. You cannot deny the PMag's reliability though.

Because clip-fed rifles are retarded outside military purposes. Even then, they've evolved far past that.

It's a better shitpost than you usually do.

Did that pocket pistol ever work out? I never saw the end of it.
>>
>>33920080
Ugh! Don't get me started on that fucking thing. I made that new ejector, took it to the range, fired a few mags without issue and then thought "Hey, I got this thing running ok!"

Then it warmed up, got a little dirty, and went RIGHT back to malfunctioning again. I have made a new extractor and shortened the too-long firing pin, and am going to try again sometime this week.

It's fun to tinker on, but SHEESH what a horrible gun lol.

It's because most of /k/ is noguns and shoots very little.

If you spend enough time in the hobby and don't drift off into something else, eventually you just like guns of all types. You probably have pieces that are tacticool, historical, fuddy, etc.

Noguns are threatened by things that aren't their fantasized first gun. They haven't yet realized that owning one type of firearm doesn't present an either or scenario where you can't have both.
>>
>>33921421
Aka, people shouldn't have what I deem not worthwhile.
>>
>>33921525
You've got to diversify, otherwise it gets boring. At least for me it does. I have mostly milsurp, but I try to have most of them be pretty different than the other; an AR; a cap and ball revolver; and some fuddy guns.

I still find my current selection to be too small.

>During the Vietnam War, the Marine Corps decided they needed a standard sniper rifle.[2] After testing several possibilities, they ordered seven hundred Remington Model 40x rifles (target/varmint version of the Model 700 bolt-action rifle), and gave them the M40 designation.[2] Most had a Redfield 3–9 power Accurange variable scope mounted. With time, certain weaknesses, primarily warping of the all-wood stock, became apparent.[2]
Sometime in the early 1970s, the USMC armorers at MCB Quantico began rebuilding the original M40s into M40A1s.[2] The process involved, among other improvements, replacing the original wood stocks with McMillan A1 fiberglass stocks, as well as replacing the original 3–9× Redfield variable-power scopes with 10× Unertl fixed-power scopes.[2] The M40 was originally designed by Jack Cuddy and Neill Goddard.[2] The stock featured Wichita sling swivels and a Pachmayr buttpad.[2]
>Action: The M40 has always been based on the Remington 700 Short Action with .308 bolt face, and this is no different in the M40A3.[8] These actions are tuned by Marine armorers; the trigger guard assembly is manufactured by the DD Ross Company, though several M40A3s use Badger Ordnance trigger guards.[5] In 2007, the Marine Corps began replacing the DD Ross trigger guard assemblies with the M5 detachable magazine trigger guard manufactured by Badger Ordnance.[8]

It's literally a factory-stock R700 short action that's been blueprinted.

Most tards don't know how to effectively use stripper clips and stripper clip guides, and instead rather use $50+ contraptions that are more difficult to use and take more time

Do you think that firearms have no application outside of the military or something? Are you that retarded or is this just that low-effort of an attempt at trolling?

Yeah most people don't hunt because most people don't need to hunt to survive and most people don't feel big and strong killing an animal 300 yards away with a gun and then calling it a sport.

I like bolt guns because they're fun to use.
Good tactile sensation from operating the bolt instead of just pulling the trigger on a semi auto.
Same reason I like clips.

Sub-MOA is sub-MOA, beyond a couple of hundred yards it's up to the shooter to dial in an accurate firing solution. Unless you were just shitting on 5.56 then yeah it goes subsonic at like 600 meters.

Accurate semi-automatics do exist though.
