BCM doesn't forge their own lowers, so the forge fucked up big time on that one...and BCM to an extent that it wasn't caught by QC but still, forge is at fault there
>>

why would you want a FA rifle for a SHTF rifle anyway?

After a few mag dumps, the appeal of firing in full auto wear out quickly.

Lots of wobble with uppers that I don't like.
>>
>>33917866
Fair enough, but that's not really much of a concern. You can buy a 50 cent rubber shim to tighten the fit between the upper and lower, or buy lowers from Aero Precision. They have a little nylon tipped screw next to the grip screw you can tighten to take the wobble out.
>>
Who gives a fuck about your lower. Forged is going to withstand more abuse than a machined from billet lower and you're not going to run into any magazine compatibility issues like you would on some billet lowers with goofy mag wells. Other than that ypur forgings are all made at a few forges that sell to everyone.

You should worry more about your barrel, bcg, gas block, etc.

If you don't have your spare parts and tools beforehand, you're fucked. It's not like it's a damn video game where you're just pick up gear off the ground or finding loot in random places.

You'll be stuck with what you've got for the most part so make wise decisions and preparations beforehand rather than thinking you'll just be a scavenger.

Besides, you'll probably get BTFO'd by the fed by doing stupid shit if you even try.

something about BCM lowers makes them heavy for whatever reason, i only got one because i was building a recce 16 instead of paying retail price for one

basically built a recce 16 for like $1350 but instead of a nickle teflon trigger i had a Geissele SSA installed, so i saved around $250 or so and ended up with a BCM recce 16 that had a 2-stage trigger instead of a single stage

A lower is a lower though, whatever is cheaper. A bad lower just means it's a bitch to get the upper off.
>>
>>33914384
I wouldn't pre-purchase a lower becuase I love building shit. But for shtf I would get a lower that is ar-based so it would be common, and easy to find parts. If I wanted something cool it would be a mp5 full auto lower.

Suck their cock more. What manufacturer forges their own lowers? Most are contracted out to forges.

BCM is 100% at fault for selling a "BCM Lower" with manufacturing defect.

You're paying for a name and QC.

Aero precision. Great finish, fantastic quality, has an adjustment to remove wobble. Anything more is essentially paying more for less features and a different rollmark.

>>
>>33914687

Because 60 rounds of fuck you in 4.5 seconds across a room is occasionally a very nice thing to have.
>>
>>33922626
Full-auto is really, really useful for keeping your enemy's head down while your people maneuver to outflank them, which is an excellent military application and not so much for a solitary civilian shooter. Or a small squad operating without logistical support for that matter.

What I was thinking...

The only thing I could think that a good lower needs is a good trigger and stock. Everything else that is important is on the upper.
>>
>>33925742
BCM is great, and I have enjoyed my recce16 for a year. However, I'm going to switch to mlok for my next build because that's the way the industry is going. But there's really nothing wrong with what BCM did with the KMR.

My BCM rifle is fucking great, and I'll keep it forever. I trust it with my life, and it will be my bugout rifle until I find something better... which I haven't yet. Whatever downsides there are to the KMR system, I doubt I'll even run into them - and if I do, it'll probably be conditions that would destroy just about any rail.
>>
>>33925742
Oh goddammit I just saw the part of the vid you're referring to. LOL holy shit. BRB, removing my KMR and tossing it in the trash
>>
>>33926917
>there's really nothing wrong with what BCM did with the KMR
I'll be the first to admit the bending rail was kind of a bait post. You'd have to be a fucking idiot to not expect it to bend weighing less than 6 ounces. I'm a guy who's into making guns at lightweight as possible without compromising on reliability, so I can appreciate anything that's lightweight and durable, but at a point things get too light weight for their own good in my opinion. Although, there is something BCM did wrong, and that was making it keymod, and then not switching to m-lok after m-lok became available.

also
>16" barrel
>bugout rifle
kek
>>
>>33914687
Because the advantage of having full auto just in case you need it is much bigger than the slight reliability advantage whatever gucci lower would have over a milspec one
>>
>>33924620
Automatic sustained fire is only usefully in maneuver when it comes from a machine gun. At short range however, automatic fire from a rifle greatly increases the chance of hitting a target when used in short burst
