Vintage gun advertisements thread? Also any and all pics that involve surplus collecting or militia's or shooting from the 80's and 90's. I know it's a weird niche, but I need it filled.

I'd recommend, it's a pretty cool rifle. I shoot surplus Romy 8mm in mine and it works.

I have a framed copy of this ad that was given to my grandfather by my grandmother when she bought him an A5 20 gauge magnum for Christmas in the late 60s.
My grandfather hunted with it, my dad competed with it, and now it's mine.
My family lived out this ad campaign, and my heirloom A5 is by far one of my most prized possessions.
>>33914890

Not if it's a century import. They rebuilt guns on new barrels and have wonderful tendencies to blow up like >>33914865 did
Find a Luxembourg, Belgian, or Argentinean one instead.
t. Owned an Egyptian 8mm "rebuild" and sold that piece of shit. Got a Belgian Army one that saw action in Korea and it's one of my all-time favourite guns

Linger not in the past brother, but instead, look to the future. Just imagine how many cool new guns we'll have in the future. As the tech to manufacture them gets cheaper, we should see prices of today's guns dropping fast. Also, nothings stopping you from starting a business cranking out cheapo guns.

>>33915252
it really doesn't matter even if it did. before the stamp made buying full auto prohibitive, or at least highly disadvantageous. now the price of the guns themselves makes it outright prohibitive for most people.
the stamp's greatest effect was limiting the supply even before the registry was closed. why pay $50 for a gun plus $200 for the stamp when you can buy some other semi-auto surplus gun for $50 or less?

I always get a little sad when I see these ads; makes you wonder what neat Chinese guns and ammo we'd still be importing if Norinco hadn't gone full retard and tried to sell weapons to Oakland gangs. Had they actually succeeded, and sold weapons to actual dindus rather than sting agents...well, I imagine the Battles of Berkeley would've been a lot more interesting.
>>33917559
But wait! There's more!
>>33914882
Meh, don't get butthurt over it. The prices you see in these magazines aren't that attractive once you factor general inflation in.
>>33914966
If you have a few grand, you can always acquire a parts kit and assemble it on a good receiver (if milled, CNC warrior is a good option; otherwise, there are a lot of good makers of Chinese stamped ones out there)

Not a single one of those can realistically be got for less than $600 now. Except maybe the MAS-49/56, but most are absolute trash due to the conversion fuckup from going from 7.5x54mm french to 7.62x51mm. NATO.

AK is seen as the symbol of freedom in many parts of the world even though it was designed and produced by one the most oppressive regimes in modern history.
I've always loved the AK as a symbol but I do recognize its problematic past.
When I was in high school our history teacher made us all read through the constitution of USSR. He said that it is the most beautiful legal text ever written but unfortunately the nation that produced it wasn't able to deliver. And he was and still is right-wing as hell.
>>33927401
Haven't seen those in a while here in Finland. VALMET (Government metalworks corporation) sold all sorts of failed products on the american market when our domestic military, law-enforcement organisations weren't buying and Finnish civilian markets are mostly made up of fudds who are disgusted by idea of guns getting modernized. "If M-27 and a broom handle mauser were good enough for my grand pa they're good enough for me".
>>33927445
>failed products
You mean they were commercial failures in Finland?
Have you shot any of those?
>>33927534
No. I've shot long barreled RK which is pretty much where these based on. They just rechambered those for cartridges more common on the western markets (US in particular) and slapped on to them 70s 80s tictactic parts and shipped them over the Atlantic.
