Why can't the US produce a robust, multi use, cheap rocket launcher like the Russian RPG?
>>
>>33910151
its more efficient to shoot and drop the tube. with an rpg, you still have to lug the launcher around when you spent your rockets.
>>
>>33910190
>it's more efficient to lug 1 launcher per rocket
>>
Because RPGs of all models are really quite horrible for the roles US uses launchers for (anti armor and structure) hence why they use the excellent Carl G, and for the roles that the nutnuts use RPGs (anti personnel and unarmored vehicle), we have 40mm launchers.
>>
>>33910198
what do you need rockets for other than anti armor? antipersonnel rockets are substituted by 40mm in the us.
>>
>>33910225
>carl g

>>
>>33910272
Some US units been using CG in recent years.
>>
>>33910198
You can carry three M72s for the weight of the RPG-7 launcher, and each rocket weights about as much as a single M72. The RPG-7 can field more exotic rounds such as anti personnel and tandem heat, but AP role is filled in with other weapons by the US and the heavy rockets have very little range, reducing their AT ability
>>
>>33910190
The units require guys to pick up AT4 and Law tubes so locals can't make ieds out of them. So you still have to pick them up

>>33910225
In what way can a HE or HEDP warheadfor barrier destruction not be made for other rockets?
>>
>>33910302
That is a literal 60 year old design with a steel and wooden design. Use of fiberglass and aluminum could lessen that.
>>
>>33910151
>RPG-7
>rocket launcher
What happened to lurk moar fagget?
>>
because a big portion of america's economy is based off of overpriced military hardware

>>
>>33910249
Kind of begs the question, if Russian squads have RPGs for gene4al putpose use, why do theu have GP25's too?
>>
>>33910366
It is a rocket launcher. Not sure what else you would call it.
>>
>>33910481
Russian infantry dont really use the RPG-7 anymore...they use RPGs that are essentially like the LAWS or CG
>>
>>33910345
Yeah, AirTronics did it. It was somewhat lighter, but still at heart an RPG, a weapon firing 3 kilo warheads at BB gun speeds that, with a trained operator, has a hit probability of 20% at 300m due to its sensitivity to crosswinds.
Recoilless rifles like the M3 are simply superior, weighing only a kilo more than an RPG and using projectiles of the same weight, while flying at twice the airspeed and being accurately usable out to 1000m with the right ammo.

the us team uses the noob tube bc it's simpler and they arent as skilled as the russians
>>
>>33910545
Agreed. I think recoiled rifles are the bees knees. In fact rangers started pulling them out of storage for use in Afghan. I think they should use some sort of reusable rocket or recoiled rifle platform

Stop talking our your ass, RPG-7V2s are very common. Single shot disposables like the RPG-22 and 26 are more common while RPG-7V2s are used by dedicated AT guys.

Just like they do.

Literally the same but heavier(M4 variant is the only one that is lighter).
>(anti personnel and unarmored vehicle), we have 40mm launchers.
And so do they.

When I wrote that, I was referring to not Russians but sandniggers, who use it as almost exclusively an anti personnel ambush weapon.
>>
>>33910753
Yeah because the warhead on an RPG sure is a grenade lol.

>A rocket-propelled grenade (often abbreviated RPG) is a shoulder-fired, anti-tank weapon system that fires rockets equipped with an explosive warhead. These warheads are affixed to a rocket motor and stabilized in flight with fins. Some types of RPG are reloadable, while others are single-use. RPGs, with some exceptions, are generally loaded from the muzzle.

>>
>>33910190
Just to play devils advocate. Bazookas are fucking cool and it'd be very useful for sieges on buildings.
While I think a few single shots spread out across fire teams would work a multi launcher could easily make people panic and want to abandon a fortification, or simply destroying some of their strategic cover, without needing to resort to an air strike or throwing people into a fatal funnel. Not to mention being close to a bazooka when it launches something off sounds and feels good.

You know I really heard a lot of grunt vs pog shit but our commander threw crew served weapons on any guy that could carry and operate them independently. I'd almost feel bad for anyone dumb enough to get into a fight with us.

>M72 Law weighs 5.5lbs
>One fiberglass rocket tube
> RPG-7 V2 is a 15lb launcher
>RPG has 6lb rockets with motors
>Can carry 4 M72s for every one RPG with one warhead

It also allows for every SQD to have AT assets without having a separate AT team. Spreads the weigh and possibility of loss out

That's one hell of a BB gun.

Sure, if said operators "training" consisted of shoving the tube in his hands and pointing him in the vague direction of the enemy.

What happened to this?
Fires 40x53mm rounds

You don't need an recoilless rifle to fire explosive rounds

nope, we used Carl G's to kill faggot ass taliban all the time. i was secret squirrel cool guy tho 04-14

Fiberglass tubes.

They don't even have plumbing supplies in country?
>>
>>33912074
the circumference of the LAW tube is such that a grenade can fit nicely inside, with the pin pulled and safety lever down. rig it up to a tree and a tripwire, so it swings down and empties the grenades onto the guys below.
>>
>>33911982
There are high explosive anti-tank rounds for it
>>
>>33910190

That was the theory, now you bring the empty tubes home.
>>
>>33910151
This is the third time you've made this shit thread.

Why can't you just fuck off already?

Russian LAW equivalent is the RPG-18/22
>>
In the IDF (omg j00) we use both M72 and RPG-7. They actually compliment each other well.
