Any recommendations for a rifle that shoots .223/5.56 and has irons? It can't be an AR tho. I live in a ban state where Ar-15's and other "assault weapons" are put on a registry

Currently on the top of my list. Some anons were saying that the rear sight comes loose easily while firing and can't hold a zero

I had that issue with mine about two weeks after I bought it. I put loctite on the screw and it hasn't happened in the two years since.

How about a vepr sporter? I think 20" is the best barrel length aesthetically. And 20-23 would be ideal for 223/556.

Mini-14
SCAR-16s
Galil
Any 5.56AK
Mossberg MVP
Ruger Gunsite Scout
Some of these may be considered "assault weapons" but it's what I could come up with off the top of my head

20in is ideal for m855 and you can get some loads that can benefit from a 20+in barrel but mainly 20in is the max I would ever go if you're just shooting commercial ammo.

Loctite on the screw, or, even better, invest in Tech Sights

What about a "featureless rifle"?

Why would anyone want to own a cucked rifle like that? At that point just put it out of its misery and destroy it.
