What's better? Wolf or tulammo? Inb4 they are both shit I know I just want to know what's better between the two.
wolf
>>33902477
Wolf is usually cheaper, so since they're both crap Russian steelcase, it's better in my opinion. Never had a malf shooting any. People usually shit on Tul more but I can't tell you how they differ.
Also, never but .223 Wolf Military Classic unless you like opening excessive packaging.
>>33902554
Noted. Thanks.
>>33902477
Wolf.
Even though Tulammo is only a few cents a round cheaper, the quality difference is amazing. Wolf is way less dirty, and Tulammo will average 1-3 hard primers per box. I like Wolf military classic because the rounds come wrapped in paper and you can just dump them out 20 at a time as opposed to fiddling with plastic clips.
>>33902477
tula is shit. wolf of bust imo. check out bear's 62gr hp for a nigger mk318 load in 223. shit is cash for deer/chimpout protection.
>>33902477
Wolf for a number of performance reasons.
But for me its mostly nostalgia. Brings me back to 2004 when we used to do milsurp weekends up north.
I have heard that Golden Tiger is better than both, fwiw
>>33902787
Golden Tiger doesn't produce anything other than 7.62x39 despite advertising for 5.45, 5.56, and .308 for several years now.
Old Wolf was rebranded Tula.
At some point ROUGHLY around 2012-2013 they switched suppliers to Barnaul and quality went way up.
Pic related is Wolf WPA 55gr 5.56 from the Tulammo era (it's rebranded Tula).
>bullet mic'd at .208" entire length of the shank
>bullet is supposed to be .224"
>>33902840
SGAmmo literally sells GT .223 right now
wolf is cheaper and 4x better quality.
>>33902857
Fug. Pic for real this time.
>>33902616
Only 1 company produces the primers for Russian ammo, there is no such thing as a hard primer, primers set too deep in the case yes.
>>33902858
Well fuck me sideways. This is a new development, I checked just a few months ago and they had the same "in development' page up on their website.
Guess they decided to stop fucking around.
Anyway, here's the same bullet in >>33902870
>supposed to be 55gr
>is 62.5gr
Iv had great luck with silver bear. Pretty much all I buy lately.
>>33902885
They even have 5.45 GT stocked too.
Not anyone ITT but I've been meaning to get some cheaper steel case shit for my AR for when accurate loads aren't a concern ie close range drills. Might get some Wolf .223 or Golden Tiger. I've heard bad shit about .223 GT but this was a very old post on akfiles.
Would you say using wolf/GT is g2g for my certain application? I normally shoot Federal XM193 but it's pretty much a waste imo to use them at 7-25 yards
>>33902885
And here's typical accuracy from Tulammo, compared to typical accuracy from other budget-brand brass-cased 5.56 (plus handloads with the Hornady 55gr FMJBT bullet).
>>33902928
I've never tried GT in any caliber, I have no personal input with it.
Barnaul has always treated me...decently...in my AR's. Certainly nowhere near as accurate as even IMI, but reliable enough for drill practice or fucking around.
>>33902477
As far as reliability, I've had no problems with tulammo, hard primers, feeding, extraction, duds, or otherwise.
I guess everybody just uses weak ass hammer springs (I had a polish kit and my tapco trigger didn't come with a spring)
So.
That's that I guess. But it's fucking awful in terms of accuracy and how damn dirty it is, but that's mostly just my AK because it gets wonderful groups in my friends SKS.
I must say though, RAS gets even better groups for around a buck more per box.
>>33902950
I might try some out, I have probably ~3,000 GT 7.62x39 rounds through my SLR107 with only one odd light primer strike.
Wolf is less dirty, and I've had TWO squib rounds using 9mm tula.
>>33902840
>>33902858
And 545x39 too. But they don't use the steel core shaped bullet, they have a shorter one that's probably not going to yaw well vs any other 60grain brands with their long bullets and huge air gaps.
It'll be fun to see their 308 make it to the states, but my tulammo 308 seems plenty accurate etc so it'll have to be priced similarly.
>>33902477
Wolf for rifle, Tula for pistol.
>>33902477
Honestly I stopped shooting steel cased commercial ammo since the brass cased stuff is so much cheaper than before these days. But I have only had problems with Tula. I was shooting my AR one day when I got a really fuckbad jam. Turns out that the primer had not been put into the pocket correctly and while the rifle was chambering the round the primer fell out and got into my trigger group. After that I stopped buying Tula. I pretty much exclusively shot Wolf through my SKS back when I had it (before Walmart started carrying Tula) and had no problems with it.
>>33903729
10/10 ammo.
>cheap
>brass
>military crimped, so if you reload swage them.
>>33906015
I had a question about this. I just bought a Lee Hand Press, with a pair of primer pocket swagers, I think from RCBS, that screw into a single state press. Would my hand kit be able to accept them and swage the primer pockets?
>>33903729
>>33906015
agreed, it's been great stuff for me except that I shoot it from an ak and it screws up the brass pretty bad for anybody wanting to reload
