yes, every day in fact. There's a guy outside my office who is holding his "starving USMC vet" sign. I asked him what his MOS was. He said "11b, sir".
>>

i did see somebody in Raleigh with dirty hippy hair/pubic beard, a disgusting fat body, and unbloused ACUs last Memorial Day.

1st Amendment: as long as you're not lying about somebody else (and in a way that costs them actual money), you can lie and lie and lie as much as you want. This is why most groups that give special advantages to vets want to see DD214s, and why States are starting to give special driver's licenses to vets - to weed out the phoneys.

Nigga can't even tilt his fucking phone, and sounds like an entitled bitch. He must have served a few enlistments.

>>
>>33899555
yes one time I was at the park and there were a couple dozen people in uniform but you could tell they got them off Amazon or eBay and they were running around being jackasses pretending they were in the army they even had rifles with them so I confronted them and they were speechless they didn't think they would get caught but I showed them I called the police
>>
I'm quite sure I have, but at the time I was too much of an edgy teenager to really care.

My older brother served in the army and I had been familiar with the uniform. Long story short, I noticed an overweight neckbeard walking around in a size-too-big uniform at the mall during a Veteran's Day sale.

I knew that veterans, no matter the branch, don't flaunt around in their uniforms. They usually just show their ID for whatever benefits or discounts they are receiving.

Cringey as hell
>>
>>33899559
>69th Cobblestone core
>takes off uniform and there's a fucking minecraft shirt underneath
Fucking lost
>>
>>33899555
I used to manage a store, and we got quite a few people in asking for military discounts, we didn't have one. But one time these four guys came in wearing blue digicam uniforms claiming they were military. I asked them for ID because they were in ridiculous attire. Motherfuckers showed me a government ID that said they were Navy, I told them to fuck off and come back when they actually enlisted.
>>
>>33899661
>>You're stealing my valor
thats pretty cringey imo
>>
>>33899721
I lol'd
>>
>>33899661

I find it autistic when even if there's no ranks, name tag, division, or medals being worn, that they still throw a bitch fit at you for even wearing the outfit or part of it. One of the videos in those compilations shows it.

>Guy made it clear he wasnt legit as he not only states but his jacket had everything taken off
>"I-It's still stolen valor! M-muh people died in that uniform"
>>
>>33899640

Multicams and OCP's are ACU's too
>>
>>33899752

yeah i've got an idea to take some of my ABU tops i never wear and turn those into the world's worst Hawaiian shirt, but i have a feeling the joke would be lost on everyone.
>>
maybe a bit related
went to the supermarket in uniform one day and since it was in a higher end neighborhood people were looking at me weird, i thought someone would try to expose me for stolen valor.
in the end the cashier turned out to be ex-military and we had a nice chat
>>
This thread is making me feel guilty for wearing a flecktarn top around even though I'm a reservist
>>

>>33899667
>implying new ACU's aren't called multicam on a daily basis and that people care about the 2 shades darker brown that was used
>>
>>33899555
yeah and no.
I know a guy who was never deployed but has PTSD.

He got drunk on base before deployment and no one liked him so he was dishonorably discharged.

So he did this whole thing were he threatened to kill himself with his gun to his head. Everyone just kinda told to hurry and fucking do it. He pussed out, either way he is annoying as fuck.
>>
>>33899555
was on leave one time walking down the street to another bar with a friend. old dude saunters up to me smelling of colt45 and menthol.

>well then you know how hard it is
yea i guess
>could you spare a brotha some change
i don't carry cash man
>could you try to help out a combat veteran get a hotel room?
oh wow man. what unit were you in? i'm on leave from fort drum right now.
>doesn't say another word and walks right past me
>>
>>33899668
so you called the cops on people wearing a certain clothing and for having rifles? kys
>>
>>33899779

I have one of those blue navy NWU jackets, the one that's going to be completely phased out in 2019. I've taken off all patches but the embroidered logo. I might remove the latter anyway as while it looks neat, it aint worth the potential bitchfit. Alternatively I thought of slapping something over it.
>>
>>33899860

yeah, i'd take off rank, tapes, and pockets, and just convert it to short sleeve. it'd still be stupid but it would at least be funny to some.
>>
>>33899555

I wasn't sure if that was a fat, feminine guy, or an ugly, fat woman until I watched the video.
>>
>>33899752
Something like that happened to me a few months ago

>wearing M65 because max comfy
>no unit patches/medals/etc on it
>old guy waddles up to me and slaps me on the back of the head
>"YOU dont look like you've PAID the PRICE to wear that uniform!"

What is everyone's opinion on someone wearing surplus pants or a jacket because they are utilitarian and stuff? I've always wanted a pair of Military grade pants because they just look useful, I've held off on that because of the stigma attached to that

but it's not camo

i gave all my ucp shit to my buddy who needed uniforms. kept all my multicams. probably going to make a pair of shorts for general fuckery, a ghillie set for hunting, and keep the last one as is for shits and giggles. most people i see wearing pieces of old uniforms are pants turned into cargo shorts. did see a ucp visor made from a ucp pc one time though.

Exactly, I just like the shirt. I've only had one person ask about it and I said,

You're right, I should have kept it shorter but I guess I wasn't expecting that. Namely because as you said no one even knows what Rhodesia was.

What if I wear my dads old bdu jacket? It doesn't have any insignia on it, just the name part. He died and I like having a part of him with me wherever I go when it's cold. When it's hot I carry a challenge coin. It's more sentimental than anything but I don't want to be stopped by any of these people just going about my day

>>
>>33901308
Dude, during the 1980's EVERYBODY wore old surplus Army jackets. Even at school. Stolen valor is a recent thing, and involves a sort of military transvestism. Wear your old man's jacket with pride and if some dumb fuck gets in your face, tell him to fuck off.

I got sperg'd out at by an ex-military Autozone employee once for basically the same reason. Even made a veiled threat along the lines of "should be careful who you wear that around you might get beat down" or some shit.

Because my casually wearing a BDU for it's comfort, utility, and durability in my work and leisure and in no way trying to pass as real current or ex-military myself is somehow more damaging to the reputation and valor of our servicemen than a middle aged retail clerk implying that I will be physically, brutally assaulted by those same men for exercising my constitutional right to wear an article of clothing outside it's original function. The blouse is a collared button up with cuffed long sleeves. There's also two chest and shoulder pockets. The parka just looks like a rain/cold weather jacket.

Do you see people walking around wearing military jackets? Yes, because theyre functional
Do you see people wearing the blouses? No, unless it's Woodland or DCU and you're at a metal concert. You can wear whatever you like but realize wearing the blouse will get you ridicule because you look like an asshole. If you do find a way to wear it without looking like a cock, let me know cause I'll be impressed

Fuck that guy. Family is a different thing, I think. I have my dad's battalion patch on my battle belt.

The only family-associated patch I have that I will never wear is the 101st Airborne patch my cousin gave me. His unit was seconded to them for a while and so everyone had to learn parachute jumps and wear their shit I guess. Too much weight and pride on that emblem, so it sits in my collection.

This just reminds me I don't have a 35th Infantry patch yet to honor all my friends who served with that one.

The thing I find cringey is when people pull out their military ID instead of the driver's license right next to it when I card them for ammunition/tobacco/alcohol purchases. There's no discount for it and anyone who shops with us regularly knows that we can scan the info off the barcode on state ID but other types have to be keypunched twice (confirmation to prevent keying errors).

I had a guy in college tell me that he was in Panama as a Navy SEAL. He apparently got badly wounded based on bad intel, then when the intel officer who gave it to him yelled at him as he was laying wounded on the flight deck, he punched the officer. needless to say, this was a problem (enlisted striking an officer), so off to the brig he went. fortunately for him, there was an admiral who liked him and made him his personal steward.

Always loved the aesthetics of the BDU pants, jackets, and boonie hats. would wear them occasionally inna public as a wind breaker, or just as a comfy as fuck pair of pants. I would never wear them all together though or to get free shit, just would wear as a separate piece of clothing

Stopped wearing them in public a few years ago as I didn't want some autist vet w/ a phone getting up in my shit about STOLEN VALLOR... MY BROTHERZ DIED WERING DAT PANTS ASSHOLE!!!

>TFW I will never get the joy of a cozy mother fucking BDU pants inna public or a broke in surplus BDU shirt in the spring time / fall months 80's / 90's style again

Would like anyones opinion on what i'd wear in the summer. I don;t want to get confronted by angry men with cameras screaming stolen valor
>wear fleck, '68 ERDL (rolled sleeves) and I made charlies jacket from it's always sunny in philidelphia (his army one with the same patches) and I kind of want to wear a accurate repro of vietnam tigerstripe shirt with sleeves rolled up and i'd wear jeans and regular shoes
Is any of this too much to wear?: They don't have patches (except for the charlie one)

Had a weird situation and wasn't sure whether or not to call this guy out on his bullshit.

>be home on leave at local bar
>minding my own business playing pool
>some mid thirties looking dude comes up to me
>pretty sure someone pointed mentioned to him I was in the marines at one point
>"dude is that a third battalion shirt?"
>it was just a shirt with my high school crest on the breast
>not sure what third battalion he was referring to at first
>"uhhh nah man it's just my high school. What's up?"
>"oh haha couldn't tell from over there man. You're in the marines right? I'm ______ I was with Force recon"

I figured he meant third recon battalion. Then he went on to say he was in for 8 years and got out as a master guns. I was obviously pretty incredulous about this, pressed him for more info but he just kept showing me pictures of him and his buddies shooting at this range in our town.

I know those Force guys pick up pretty fast but master guns in 8 years just doesn't add up. Also being that open about being with force was weird. Didn't want to make a scene or anything though.
>>
>>33917205
maybe possibly could have gone recon was a senior sergeant or staff sergeant then retired 8 years later for 15 when you still could.

sometimes the responses you get from people who were in the same locations or units as you is kinda strange. You kinda expect them to talk to you in a certain way but when they just stare at you like your retarded you just spaghetti your way into a different topic.

Rhodesia was a successful breadbasket nation in Africa, destroyed by the "muh equality" and "muh votes" camp.

Human rights are the modern myth that will be destroyed in modern strife. You have no "natural rights", only that which is guaranteed by a weapon in competent hands.

Anybody who suggests that they have any rights by simply "existing" or "being human", shortly before destroying one of the nations feeding the entire continent? Well, they're starving to death today. Be they child or adult? They reap what they sow as a nation, and I'm not gonna put a damn penny into unicef.

It's a tragedy... And he's no Chump, that's Don Shipley from Bros131

His wife denied the women of earth access to his handsomeness, stamina and vigour. She's been getting away with it for decades. Like I said, it is a tragedy the poets will likely recall with tear-filled eyes for eons

>Has /k/ ever run into someone impersonating a soldier?

Yes. The UK is full of alcoholic bums in their 50/60s who were all in the Falkland's at goose green and don't know how to operate an SLR or SA80.

Compulsive liars tend to have a flight or fight reaction when confronted so ignoring the bums is generally the way to go, Entertainment can be had by quiet encouragement as their tales drift further into frenzied imaginings.

This. Its when you start claiming to be something you are not that you become a piece of shit. Frankly whether military or not. Wearing an idem of clothing means nothing, A kid may wear a deceased relatives patch and mean no harm. Running around going spastic about it is equally retarded. Walter mitties should be enjoyed for their entertaining stories and lack of self humiliation boundaries..

Was on TV a few weeks ago. Friend of mine watched it and said "I don't get it."

Looks shitty and lazy I guess. I had a Major talk to me because I was standing with my hands in my pockets at -35C. Told him my Major said it was ok because he'd rather have a case on his desk about guys having their hands in their pockets, than guys having frostbite. The issued gloves we got burned up first time out. So most of the guys just had their hands in the pocket.
