Scattergat General, all things multiple projectile.
I'm looking for a good bush shotgun, meaning choke able and can take slugs as well as buck or birdshot, reliable, and light-ish that I can also use for trap and sporting clays.
This could be semi, pump, or break action but MUST be able to take at least two shells.
My scatological gats.
I do everything with the vepr12 pretty much myself. It checks all your boxes except for it's not super light I guess.
>>33898799
I was trying to talk myself out of the VEPR considering it has sights that are shitty for clays :(

>>33898819
You can tell its airsoft from the holes in front of the canisters, that was the joke.
>>33898815
I do better with my vepr12 than any of my pumps. I know it seems like it should suck, but it's not how you'd think since most of shooting is reflex and instinct anyway. I can normally hang at about 21-23 out of 25. Usually 23 though.

It only took the first one to fatally wound him, but as many as I feel like. Coons are tough as nails, but he was down for the count for sure after the first 3, then it was just mercy shots.
>>33898943
I don't do it just for fun, they're tough on pheasant eggs and are a nuisance in the sheds. I'm normally a live and let live guy. But if I'm going to do it, I'm going to catch a cool video.
>>33898889
I love mine, it's the .410 version. Admittedly I don't have many rounds through it.

>mfw he's using practice bird loads
>>33899102
Whatever man, stay mad.
>>33898970
>>33899146
It's birdshot that practically stays in one super tight clump within 10 yards through the x-full. Up as close as I was, I figured I'd give it a try since it's so nasty on other stuff I hit with it. Cuts smaller trees right down, that'd never happen with other loads.
>>33899006
I'm not saying I wouldn't buy it for shits and giggles...
>>33898974
It seems like there must be a more efficient way to do this.
>>33902679
I could have used buckshot or a slug, but I wanted to try this out and it worked fine as far as I'm concerned. It pretty much worked just as expected with the 3/4oz concentrated shot clumps tearing him up to the extremes if you were there to see it up close.
Of course I could just clock it in the head with a 22cal pellet gun right inside the trap as it stares at me. Their skull is about the only soft spot on them. But there's no fun in that. If I'm going to kill something, I'm at least going to make it interesting to watch since I have a eyeglass camera.
>>33902826
Fuck that is a stupendous reaction image waiting to be made
>>33898799
Crescent 410 on the bottom? My favorite small game gun
This is what it's come down to here in Australia. Bolt action shotguns are becoming more popular
>>33902872
The next shotgun on my list is actually a 22cal birdshot gun.
Using that stuff out of a rifled gun = hopeless patterns at 3 feet.
With a smooth bore 22, I've knocked clays out of the air with a friend's gun at a skeet range.
Night and day difference.
>>33902872
I had this too, the Victor 410, awesome gun. When I was a kid I would pull the slugs out of shells and load arrows with barbed tips in them. Used it as a harpoon gun to shoot carp, fun shit. I made so many homemade shells. Shot a rabbit with a cluster of toothpick flechets, actually killed the guy somehow
>>33898799
I'm a big guy, will the vepr be too short for trap? As of now an unmodded wing master is a bit short

Best option is handle a bunch of shotguns. Almost any shotgun fits your criteria, you want one that fits you. Best case try a bunch out, you'll probably find one you shoot more naturally. Second best is handle a bunch and pick the one that feels right. This boils down to "stock dimensions are actually hella complicated" and trial and error is your best answer.
These are my shotguns; Ithaca 37 Featherlight and Dominion Outlaw.
Took 'em out back on Sunday, and the Ithaca worked like a dream. Outlaw has issues opening after firing, but the struggle's worth it to fire both barrels with 000 buck.
>>33898974
>Coons are tough as nails
Fucking this. I nailed one with a perfect chest shot using a .17HMR and he still ran about 25 yards before keeling over. When I examined the body his entire chest cavity was basically blown out, including the heart. I have NO idea how that animal managed to move at all, let alone scramble 25 yards.
Is an old ww2 model 12 good for a fun gun?

Savage 69RXL. Shoots great. The pump has a lot of play though. If I hold the pump back for comfort, I have to hold it forward before cycling or it won't budge. No complaints otherwise. Say, do you guys know any way to tighten the pump's action? Thanks.

I went to a gun auction Saturday where I saw and held the most disgusting shotgun I have ever had the displeasure of knowing existed.
It was called a Jing Ma PH12-1 over under, and it said "Mand In China" on the side. The action itself was almost impossible to break, and I can only imagine what it'd be like to break open after actually shooting the fucking thing. While trying to break it open, the handguard moved a little. The handguard itself was attached using 2 flathead screws. At the end of the barrels there was a little piece of steel haphazardly welded onto the two barrels and connected to nothing else, that I can only assume was there to keep the barrels from flying apart (never fucking seen that before). Some idiot ended up buying the piece of shit for $170 without even handling it.
I did some investigating into the company, Jing Ma, and much like how Norinco is owned by the Chinese military, Jing Ma was owned by the Chinese federal police. Jing Ma was kicked out of the United States a few decades ago by the ATF for trying to sell full-auto Korean AKs to Americans.
On another topic, what is the most recent model year of 500/870 you'd consider buying?
>>33909862
>>33909086
iirc volley fire is different than a machine gun, so if all the bullets fire at the same moment it's legal.
Don't quote me on that though.

Those are all laughably anemic. Powdered glass you may as well just rub insulation on them.

Fellow long armed niqqa here, I've got a M3500, it fits fine and I like the overall size of the gun, it does have a decent beak in period where you will have issues cycling lighter 2 3/4 dram target loads, so just use three dram for the first 10 boxes or so. After that, I can go through around 8-9 boxes of the lighter stuff before it needs to be cleaned, your best bet is to try and find someone who just bought one and can't get it to cycle due to light loads, I've got a second one that I was able to offer the guy 300$ cash for since he couldn't get it to feed at the range.

Upgraded the follower to milled aluminum, upgraded the extractor to forged steel instead of MIM, upgraded the carrier dog spring to a heaver and more positive spring.
All for about $50 to make basically a police 870 for way less than a factory one.
>>33923199
If you plan on hunting, the 3500 couldn't hurt, the extra powder you get is nice for steel shot when it's needed for waterfowl, otherwise there's really no reason, and even then you can do just fine with 3" shells.
