It shouldn't really function as a booster on a gun with a non-recoiling barrel. I'd expect it to act more like a really small suppressor (I'd assume too small to provide any meaningful suppression, especially without baffles inside).

Even longer barrels after a gas port increase pressure. This is why the M27 IAR has terrible bolt life - the gas port on the 416 was designed for a 10 inch barrel, and now it has several inches beyond. This increases bolt thrust and rate of fire. It's also why with 16" barrels it is recommended to use mid-length gas, not carbine gas.

The muzzle booster is designed to increase pressure backwards. Ergo, scary things.
