Generally during invasions police forces encounter foreigh militaries or get pressed into service as reserves. So the idea of these two armed entities fighting is not the dumbest statement hence why most police forces are alsi labelled paramilitaries.

It doesn't matter that the police may have better intelligence units or better community skills, in a force on force engagement they've only got their tactics and firepower to win.

Its also why cops in warzones actually become surprisingly armed and competent, and sometimes become elite military formations in their own right.

Examples include special Russian MVD detachments, various European gendarmines, as well as converted loyalist militias.

Hell even the Iraqi Police have their own antitank missiles, T72s, and artillery companies. Because what they face actually merits that level of firepower.

I have no idea how you arrived at those conclusions based on what I posted. Militarily, cops would be poorly equipped light infantry. They also operate under different ROE than military forces.

In descending order; OMON, LAPD, BOPE.

OMON first because they're the largest. They're also a gendarmerie, so they're organized and trained more like a military force than a police force.

LAPD takes second place purely on strength of numbers.

I couldn't find anything about the size of BOPE, I'm assuming they're a battalion in size as well as name. Size alone puts them in third place. They don't have enough shooters to generate the bodycount that the larger organizations can. They might be able to take second place if they concentrated on high volume target locations- schools, churches, clubs, malls, sporting events and the like. Hospitals and care homes would be good places to rack up some good numbers in the shortest possible time.
