Just found out Gander Mountain is having a going out of business sale at all of their stores.

Did anyone go to one today? Any good deals?

I don't usually shop there because they're overpriced, and even if they weren't I prefer going through a smaller LGS near me, but I might go tomorrow and see if they have any good deals. I'm in the market for something in 7.62x51 anyway.

left promptly

That sucks, was hoping to stock up on 12ga. Did you get a look at the gun prices?

Well that's fucked.

Nice get though.
>>
>>33885524
The Gander Mountain near my place is also closing and they had a fixed 10% off sale of firearms and ammo, and steadily increasing sales on reloading components. Last weekend was 30% off on powder, if I recall correctly, but all that's left is some premium shotgun powder that's $40 a pound, even with the sale. Don't know if this applies to your store but hopefully it helps.
>>
>>33885555
So when are they completely out of business? What happens to unsold inventory? I'm assuming the bank(s) get it. Surely they'll have to dump the ammo and firearms off at another business with an FFL in order to ever sell it.
>>
>going to what is basically the Best Buy of gunstores

why do people do this? you're gonna get overcharged by like 20% on pretty much everything there.
>>
>>33885524
wheres the government bailouts for 2nd amendment stores !?
>>
>>33885524

I've always had good experiences at the gm near me

>>
Snagged some unique today for 20 buckos at the Knoxville store. Still had some over priced reload equipment, but no primers left. And it was the last can of unique. No sales on ammo or guns.
>>
>>33888274
Usually what happens with these going out of business sales is that a third party will buy what's left of the inventory and they are the ones doing the sale, not the original store owners.

Just watch out for inflated pricing, they may mark stuff up just to list it at 50% off, when it's still cheaper elsewhere. Local sports store going out of business got caught doing this last year

They're probably going to let whatever guns and ammo are left in the store go to auction because they are faggots.

If anything, they will finally sell at regular retail price without their added 'gunsmith specialist' service charge.

The Walmart near me has ammo but it's always in 20 round boxes for 8 bucks so I always buy 5 boxes

I just want one box of ammo rrreee why does it come in 20 round boxes no one shoots just 20 rounds of 5.56 in one session

They built a new store near me like 6 months ago, but saw that it was closing.

Somebody isn't spending money wisely over there, so now they're going out of business.
>>
>>33888832
They're literally in the process of building one in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, right now.

Imagine being so shit at running a company you build a new store while you're going out of business.
>>
>>33889525
probably hope they can sell the completed building and recoup their money
>>
>>33889552
Could be, but I drove by it yesterday and they already have the bigass logo on the front, which seems odd if you're just planning on selling it.
>>
>>33888760

there's multiple stores in the chimpcago land area, but all of them are on the absolute outskirts of the metro area, and are all spaced out from each other that it would take all day to hit all the stores.
>>
They are not going out of business, they are closing a few stores, they don't know which ones yet but they had all of thier stores put up the going out of business signs. This is like when the one by me opened and they put up grand opening signs on 3 or 4 separate occasions over 2 years.

Checked out the sales it's all 10-30% off
No sales on guns and ammo
10% off gun accessories fishing and camping equipment then 20 or 30% off clothes.
Best deals are the clothing clearance racks because it's 30% off the already discounted price

Line will be out the goddamn door.
>>
Theres multiple sources saying that guns and ammo and everything is on sale so i'm going to go down and just find out for myself.
>>
Some of their clothing was 40% off.
Like I saw a pair of Columbia hiking shorts for 30% of $69.99. Their workboots are 40% off. $135-200 Cat, Irish Setter, and other chinese made steel toe boots with glued on soles.
everything else was 10-15% off Gander Mountains famously low prices which have gone up for a very limited time so customers can see larger savings when they apply their discounts!
>>
I've been storing my guns in my closet, but I feel like I should really get a safe or something so they're not just all propped up against the wall.

For those who have been to Gander Mountain today did they have any safes for sale? I also want a lead sled, did they have any on sale? I was just in Gander Mountain on Friday looking for 7.62x39 and it didn't seem like anything was on special sale.
>>
>>33890208
I went today. They aren't.

Circuit City did this. A friend of mine worked for them at the time and they jacked everything up like 75% right before the sales.

Jokes on them because my friend just pretended to ring me up and I got a new TV and a badass stereo system for the price of a handful of DVDs

>>
>>33891269

lmao I bought one of the desks when they sold off all their corporate office furniture. Was probably an 800 dollar desk for 60 bucks. Like 5'5"x3' and made out of solid oak. Best desk I'll ever own.

I miss CC though. So much better than Best Buy.
>>
>>33891282
I mean, if you want that sort of thing it is way below MRSP and market price.

Personally I prefer red dots.
>>
>>33888832

The one near me was only built like a year ago. I drive by it on the way to work every day and other than opening weekend the parking lot basically only has employee cars in it.

Good riddance. Whole building is an eyesore.
>>
>>33888685

Then you probably have to buy all guns privately and off the books, not search and type so many gun things online, and many other things.

You're already on the map.

This place will always be shit and this picture was taken weeks ago. I went yesterday and the same gun is still there.
>>
>>33885524
Too bad their liquidation prices are the same as a good stores full price. I doubt that that was the reason they went bankrupt but it sure does feel good knowing that another shit store is gone.
>>
>>33888310
The banks and auto manufactures deserved their bailouts a 1000 times more than Gander Mountain would. it wasn't a 2nd amendment store, it was a business that sold a product (not very well clearly) that it had no passion for, and the people that worked the counter? crusty cunts that talked shit to all the aspiring /k/ommandos and only did it so they could get their shit discount
>>
>>33890157
Lots of clothes and shit. But not much /k/ stuff on sale.
>>
>>33888723
bought a Mosin from them, first gun I ever bought. hate the fucking thing, total meme gun, $200 when they were still $100 and came with a free cleaning, the free cleaning involved him taking it into the back for a week and then calling me saying it was ready, never even touched the gun. I have been a salt mine since and am so glad they are going away
>>
>>33890119
well in the other anons defense the new owner himself said he wanted to keep 70 open but wasnt sure which ones yet, I think its because he didnt buy the inventory of the stores so maybe he is seeing which ones have the best sales so when he restocks the stores he will be able to tell which ones are worth keeping, OR more realistically, that is what the store managers were told so they work their staff to death in the hopes of saving their store.
>>
I just went today

>They had zero magpul products; like everything from buttstocks to phone cases were gonna
>All ammo was in sale so bought 6 boxes of .223 Remington and 2 boxes of .22lr
>Everybody was at the firearms counter getting guns for cheap
>No pistol ammo
>Had like 100 boxes of 12 gauge left
>Only rifle ammo they had was .223 and .30-30 and like 5 boxes of .30-06
>Had like 20 boxes of rws .22lr

They were even out of stock of soda in those refrigerators near the cash wrap
>>
>>33891190
somebody would be getting exploited but I guarantee it wouldnt be the store, thats why this is happening
>>
Do they have optics on any decent % off? If I could get an RMR for less than $390 (best internet price) I might consider it.
>>
>>33891922

I sold a yugo sks I bought for $250 to them for $225. None of them knew what it was. One of the managers said " who's gonna buy that?"

After an hour they offered the $225 and I accepted. On the sheet they had it listed as a wasr-10. I lol'd

The sks was meh, the gas selector was loose and it'd flip to single shot whenever I'd sit it down. There was also a pot leaf lightly carved in the stock.

As for their closing, mine has fairly cheap accessories Right now.

Guns and ammo are only 10% off, but some of the used guns look decently priced with the 10%. Almost bought a usp45 for $670. Sadly it was left handed and only came with one mag.
>>
One has closed by me, the other has been closing for about two months now.

There will be some deals, maybe, if you can check on the store every couple weeks.

I ended up with some stuff I was in the market for anyway at less than internet prices.

Battery powered clay thrower
Some Surefire Scout lights
Crimson Trace lasergrips
A clays vest with padded shoulder
Some Columbia and Northface shirts
Magpul 10/22 stock
Arrow fletching jigs from their shop
Some slings and stuff

I never saw more than 25% off remaining firearms, and that was right before they closed up. It brought prices down to normal internet prices, but I guess you could save since no shipping.

Guy behind the counter told me the liquidation company tells them what to sell at. Still $1299.99 for a rifle with a rusty flash hider, beat and banged to all hell...hopefully they learn why gander couldn't sell shit.
