You should always be pushing your optic forward to seat the recoil lug against the rail slot before locking anyway, so slop on the recoil lug is irrelevant.

TPS makes "weaver" rings which have thinner recoil lugs and they are just as stout as their picatinny lugs, just thinner.

Always push optics forward when locking/tightening the mount.

What's a good mid-range trigger? I don't want something so light the wind can make it shoot and not something so heavy it's going to throw shots.

Something kind of in between milspec and a Geisele. I was thinking of just throwing an m&p15 lower parts kit in there because nutnfancy said they have good triggers.

Funny thing about that. I hate the way they look and the stupid design with the integrated trigger guard. The rubber over molding is stupid as well. I have a replacement for it collecting dust bc I used the rifle a couple of times and the grips is actually extremely comfy so I've kept it on there. Once I get done with my Recce build I have going now I'll then change focus back to it and make it more clone correct. Not full autismo but an A2, Surefire FH, and probably an acog and either an enhanced sopmod or A5

It's how much barrel sticks out past the rail and how thick or thin it is. If the back of the flashhider is flush with the end of the rail then it doesn't matter, but if there's a few inches exposed then it looks like shit if it's a DYEL lightweight profile. Pic related is a government profile barrel but a decent example of good exposed barrel thickness

variable power optics have basically made magnifiers outdated, similar weight but more useful

14.5 carbine gas > 16 carbine gas, much better dwell time = softer shooting, less parts wear, plus shorter oal. if you're 16" its better to go midlength

plastic mbus are fine they just arent desirable
