Not entirely sure how entirely predictable yet still somewhat functional results indicate "btfo".
>>
>>33876914
just ruseing you my man
I though it was a cool video
>>
>>33876947
It's definitely pretty neat to see what a real one can do. Bugs me that they used a tripod like that causing drops instead of a folding table or something.

Othais had better setup.
I mean Karl could have shoveled a sandbag or two.
>>
>>33876856

But there the force of the impact broke the wooden support and part of the energy was lost instead of being completely absorbed.
>>
>>33876856
>eternally btfo
did you expect the metal plate to magically explode or something?
>>
Now the question I am still left with is why did it take so long for pistol grips to really spread?
>>
>>33877162

Traditionalism is an extremely powerful force in firearms.
>>
>>33877164
You would think they would have run into test groups saying "Holy shit this so so much more comfortable to shoot!". But then you have to test in the first place.

Fuck off with the cars captcha...
>>
>>33877176
>he actually thinks soldiers in were anything more than farmers and simple life folks.
Trust me they didnt even know what they are fighting for.
>>
>>33877162

easier to make, and less prone to snapping off. the only reason the tankgewehr has one is the wrist is so fucking big you'd need andre sized hands to hold it properly.
>>
>>33877190
Uh what?
>>
>>33877214
How do you expect simple people to know what a gun is let alone workings to improve it.
They point and shoot hoping they wont catch the bullet coming their way.
>>
>>33877190
Wasn't an ostrich involved?

The BAR really should have gone into WW2 like this
>>
>>33877354
Now why couldn't they have scaled that down to a 30.06, with a higher capacity magazine, and equipped the military with that? The US would have had the first assault rifle equipped army in the world. The change in tactics alone with a rifle of that type would have devastated our enemies.
>>
>>33878186
>scaled that down to a 30.06

The BAR is .30-06 you idiot.
>>
>>33878186
The BAR was already in 30.06 and issuing it that to every man would have made it a battle rifle.
I don't think it would change much besides making the average GI miserable that they have to carry a 20+ lb weapon everywhere.
>>
>>33877354
weren't the Poles used pistol-gripped BAR before they folded in WW2?
>>
>>33878186
It was 30.06 meathead
>>
>>33878218
Wasn't the colt monitor lightened quite a bit though?
>>
>>33878186
>>33878218
Nah, the US should've done the M2 Carbine. I mean, full-auto, 30 round mag, shooting 7.62x33mm. Now that's a lightweight and compact almost-assault-rifle (its just .30 Carbine is not a bottleneck cartridge)

>>33878276

Imagine this developed 5 years earlier.
>>
>>33878276
.30 carbine is anemic as hell and has fuckall range
>>
>>33878266
~16lb vs 24lb, but that is still very heavy for a service rife.
There would be no reason to give everyone an automatic rifle in 30.06, the M14 later shows how hard a full sized rifle round is to control from a full auto individual weapon.
>>
>>33878220
yes
check that grammar
>>
>>33878442
If you chose a smaller but suitable caliber and rebuilt it around that you could probably save more weight.

What were the smaller american rifle cartridges around that time?

Yeah, sure m8
>>
>>33878649
So you think it'd be a great idea to have a SMG as your primary infantry weapon? Good luck with that
>>
>>33877023

They also had original ammo but refused to consume it.

.276 Pedersen was a promising round but the wax coating made some people shy away from approving its adoption.

More to the point MacArthur didn't like how much it would cost to convert everything over. This was before the US military got a permanent blank check.
