Tec-9 is stop for production.

If you have $600, buy a Glock 19.(I don't like glock but it is good for novice.).

If you only have $400, buy a CANİK TP9. It is Turkish Glock but cheaper.

If you only have $200 or less, buy a Hi-Point C9.

Remember, Save your money to buy much ammo (9x19mm are cheapest self-defense ammo) to practice, and go to a lesson if you can. Shooting skill is more important than Guns.

KG-9, KG-99, and early TEC-9 are decent. As time went on they got very shitty and unreliable. Most of them out there are the later shitty versions so I would not bother, you'd likely get a jam machine.

Why would you want that thing? It literally does nothing that a full size 9mm handgun will do better. Get a Glock, M&P, 92fs, PX4, or P320.

this guy knows what's up, for about $300-$350 new, it's pretty great, a solid self defense and carry gun, i've put a good 6-700 through mine and it's not had a single hiccup, only downside is the trigger but it's pretty easily replaced and the stock one does the job just fine

That's essentially the S&W Sigma, right? That was my first gun. Was $300 new at the gunshow back in the day when I picked it up. $125 for 500 rounds of 5.56, $75 C-Mags.

Assuming this isn't the troll thread it is; the Tec-9 is largely a jamomatic piece of shit, magazines suck, the frame is brittle and it is an EXTREMELY picky eater. Their only value is being a piece of 80's and 90's TV and crime history.

If you want a first 9mm pistol, I suggest a Glock 17, Beretta 92A1 or FN FNX9

If you want a ghetto blaster fungun, then I suggest an MPA 9mm, a modernized MAC M11/9 clone.

Think of it kind of like an old Ruger P95, a perfectly acceptable economy gun, it's not great, but ultimately very serviceable and wont let you down.

The KG9 and KG99 were nicer, but the magazines and extractors were always bad, the Tec9 was always shit, this was when Interdynamics became Intratec (after bankrupcy), and the new people in charge gave no shits and wanted to make it as cheap as possible.

The trigger is poor, but I'd avise against buying an upgrade (as many suggest) when you then start approaching the cost of a nicer M&P9

Gen 1 M&Ps are nice pistols and should be a bit cheaper now.
