I don't think of them at all.

>>
>>33873150
My father did ROTC when he was at UBC in 59-60 to get the conscription stuff out of the way. They blew up a road with a howitzer because incompetent. bout all I now about leaf land military.
>>
We need to replace our failing CF-18 fleet - and not just with equally as old F/A-18(INSERT LETTER HERE) airframes either.

We have a grand total of twelve warships (the Halifax frigates) that are worth a damn in a fight, and yet one of the largest coastlines to defend.

Our military is the definition of suck. And under Justine, it's only going to get worse.
>>
>>33873507
Yea lets hope Bernier fixes it but our GDP is so fucking shit it doesn't matter. Canada had to potential to become a world power after ww2 and we squandered it.
>>
>>33873150
It fucking sucks.

We're a Smol country, budged pretty tight. So overall, everything is too Smol to exist on a battlefield without support from the USA. Especially our logistics, we don't have any force projection, so can't expand forces out far from the border without help.

Also we have political problems, pc culture, the recruiting process is a joke, money problems 'YES F-35 NO F-35' for like 10 years, etc. Oh also civilians have a 0 regard for the armed forces.

We can't even defend within our borders because the country is large.
>>
Wanted to join the British military but they stopped recruiting commonwealth citiziens recently

Not fair all my older cousins are royal marines

Im going in as combat engineer after i graduate uni in leaf army
>>
>>33873545
OP here can comfirm recruiting is a fucking joke so much fucking paper work.
>>
>>33873150
Well, maybe Canadian military is not in a good shape, but there is very few enemies who really threatening us.

>>33873545

Interesting documentary about CF in first gulf war and how fucked up our foreign policy is and how horribly funded it is
>>
Nazy - pathetic, Airforce - pathetic

Land
Infantry - good, but ill equipped
Armoured - got a few new tanks a while ago
Arty - limited capabilities, but skilled

Very high release rate after Afghanistan ended for us. The cf is lacking experienced nco's. With a liberal gov and overspending during Afghanistan and Libya, the funding is non existent. Moral is bad and skills are fading.

Overall, The cf reached its peak around 2006-2010 and has been quickly deteriorating ever since.
>>
>>33873150
Saw a few of them in San Diego mit 2000s.

Only thing I notice is their shade of green on their non digi uniforms was very jarring.
>>
>>33873289
THIS WHATS WITH THAT GREEN? ITS BLINDING
>>
I think it's mostly adequate for the very low threat, fantasy land that is peacetime Canada. If and when normal human life reasserts itself, our military will be a speedbump for a serious military. Just can't wait for that day, sure can't!
>>
>>33873150

that's pretty much any military nowadays. so many people love to talk about how great the surge was. i should've enlisted in those days.
>>
>>33873507

Eh, the F/A-18E is basically a new aircraft compared to the F/A-18C, and i can understand why the USN wants to operate them as well as the F-35C (which is quite pricey, and has worse aerial performance to the F-35A).

The issue is just that for the Canadians, the F/A-18E is probably going to be 50% of the capability for 90% of the cost, as the F-35A will enjoy massive economies of scale and upgrades over its long useful life.

I've worked loosely with them on training missions. They seem like some decently motivated and squared away people.

Fighting for foreigners to take over your country is pretty cucked. I'll just sit tight until ethnic and religious war breaks out in Europe.

The Arab deal was "continuously" delayed under Harper. Harper also "continuously" delayed the Lib proposed "UN Firearm Markings" from 2004 up until June 2017 for which Turdeau was supposedly going to stealth-implement/illegally implement it on said month.

>>33879177
Define "foreigners." A Chinese Canadian is no different than a German Canadian as long as both are patriots willing to die for the country they align with: Canada. I think this is the most important, race/ethnicity is not the issue here as much as /pol/ wants to disagree. The issue is patriotism and how far you would go to die for your country.

Then what is the point of a military since we're all sucking Jew dick at the end of the day. Doesn't matter which country you fly away to, they're all sucking Jew dick at the end of the day. Perhaps the oil rich countries may be a slight exception, but my point still stands.

Heck, even Russia to some degree is under the influence or pacified by Jew. Least we can do here is vote for a strong Conservative leader in the following weeks or month and make sure he wins the elections in 2 years.

UK, France, and USA all got their wish for a change to the right. I'm hoping Canada is part of that line up soon.

I'm a MARS (Maritime Surface/Subsurface) Officer.

If you're not familiar with navy trades, it's basically what you'd picture if you imagined a naval officer. I direct the movement of the ship from the bridge, under the captain, and work with the Operations room in warfare situations to coordinate warfighting and shipdriving. I also have various secondary jobs, some of which are pretty /k/-related.

Pic is where I earned my bridge-watchkeeping ticket, though I'm on a Halifax-class frigate now.

Be advised that the bosn trade may end up merging with navcomm or steward, both of which are much less /k/-related.

Hmm couldn't really tell you, I didn't go to the Royal Military College. I didn't enroll until after completing university civvie-side.

I have several friends who went to RMC, and most of them love it but not all. It has a reputation of being an old-boys-club, but I know many female and minority graduates who appreciated the experience. Builds a lot of connections that last a whole career, but can also fail to turn out well-rounded graduates who have experience of life outside the military.

I believe the team tends to do very well at the Sandhurst competition.

As far as the basic training goes, our equivalent of OCS is called the Basic Military Officer Qualification (BMOQ). For regular force officer or naval cadets, whether of the Army, Air Force, or Navy, it is a 14 week course at the Canadian Forces Leadership and Recruit School in St Jean-sur-Richelieu, Quebec. Main subjects taught are drill, the organisation of the Canadian Armed Forces, basic weapons handling, and leadership in small party taskings. After BMOQ, the newly-commissioned officers do their trade-specific training, the length of which varies. For me, it was about 18 months from when I started BMOQ to when I joined my first ship.

MarEng, E-Tech, and Hull Tech are now MarTech.

MarTech will have an electrical and mechanical sub-division presumably determined at QL5.

That's a big presumably.

Here's what I know for sure:
>There will be a mechanical and electrical side of the trade.
>QL3 will be 9 months and will cover both
>New courses will start around June
>There are no planned legacy QL3 courses.

The reason I assume that you will pick a sub-division when you start your QL5 is because the amalgamation is mirroring the WEng Tech amalgamation.

the canadian military is very much a good force that takes a lot of flak from civilian americans who don't get that a militaries main task isn't "winning warz"
entirely volunteer army

my main gripes are with the differences between our airforce staff's and our groundforce staff's behaviour outside of work.
>aside from the modern day 'adult' with 20k in student debt, ground forces largely filled with ex-tradesmen who do volunteer work
>air forces barely leave the country and spend most of their time planning break-ins with their rape cults.

The thing I thought was crazy about the leafs when I worked with them was how fucking general their mos (or w/e you guys call them where) were. Like in Army Aviation (burgerland) you have 5-6 different mos types working on any particular aircraft during a major phase/inspection.

But the leafs would have one mos do the whole thing, because they claimed to "know all aspects of the aircraft" when in reality it was just a giant cluster fuck where none of them had any idea what to do and no one experienced to ask for help leaving them to wander into our hanger asking for advice.

Avionics, Engine, Prop and Rotor/etc are just too complex and different to expect one person to know all that. The canadian joes were all very polite and professional, they just had no experience actually doing maintenance or any ncos with experience to ask. I felt bad for them. Their ncos would just task them to do some shit and go sit in the office leaving them lost in the sauce and having to make what I'd imagine was the super embarrassing walk over to our hangar to ask for advice/help.
>>
>>33889996
Yeah you gotta remember, our entire military has like 100k people. Comparted to the US:
>1/13 of the reg force personnel
>1/33 of the budget

It works in some trades, but hinders most of them. Works well for Navy since it's insanely important for everyone to know as much as they can about their ship.
>>
>>33882393
Dont know who recommended you to do reserves then regular but if your only waiting a year or two to switch its not worth it. Had a friend try to switch took over a year and he said one of his buddies took two. Reserves are much different then regulars, both my buddies hated it but loved regular. They said they mostly played ultimate Frisbee for PT if your in to that though.

Well I mean, kudos for that, but you're gonna come to slow realization in BMQ. A realization that will just grow more evident the longer you spend in. The fact is, a good 60% of the forces are blithering pants-on-head retards or have no interest in doing their job or fulling their role to any capacity. Infantry is a shitty go, and if you plan on making this a career, literally anything is better for your standard of living, especially if like keeping your mind active.

I could understand that in the navy I guess, and maybe that was just a bad unit, but if that was any sort of representation of the leaf military overall ya'll are honestly just going to be in the way in the next major conflict. NCO corp is basically non-existent and no one has any real experience. I remember even the most senior of the crew chiefs in their flight company only had at most like 200~ crew hours. I mean fuck, I had pfcs and spcs with more than that just in my squad...

Tbh I think that we make good ARs (If we adopt Colt Canada's MRR as standard that would be fucking awesome), I love CADPAT, and I think that we have decent quality snipers, but we're taking care of our military very, very poorly. Hell, this week the minister of defence even publicly stated that we're basically fucked budget wise. I mean, we decommissioned our last destroyer in March, and while The Halifax-Class frigates are downright sexy IMO, they don't stand a chance against anything bigger than another frigate.

At least the replacement for the Sea Kings seems to be nice, and The Leopard 2A4M CAN (Basically a 2A4 with modified 2A7+ Armor) looks alright.

But hey, at least we produced the LAV III from the MOWAG Piranha.

Actually that was a fair price. The problem is we're literally asking the corporate equivalent of the mob to build the ships for us. Vice Admiral Norman even called the bosses of Irving "insufferable assholes" and "the 4 horsemen of the apocalypse"

Fuck Canadian shipbuilding. The use can develop the Zumwalt for $22B and build them for $4B a ship.

However you will learn a lot (most of which is transferable), you have awesome benefits (I went to the dentist like 8 times my first year in, because I could), you build a great pension (At 25 years you will receive 80% of your yearly salary per year once you retire), and there's figuratively no entry bar (other than MP and some other trades). Also be prepared to live and work around some of the dumbest people you will ever meet this side of corrections.

The military takes people that are a few IQ points over being legally retarded, which is why everything, and I mean everything, is instructed and taught. This because if they don't show you the exact way, down to the hand motions, some borderline retarded "squad mate" can and will kill you by doing something stupid.

Do you know why the military can give away shit like free college tuition and home loans? Because most of the people in there won't have any need for those things in their lives of sorting recycling, or careers in screaming at fire hydrants while waving their penis at traffic when they get out.

Be warned.
