Why ppsh in with German WWII era guns?

This is pre-east Germany so makes me think that they just killed enough Russians that their guns became used from pick ups. I didn't think they were actually issued by Germany in WWII.

because they used a lot of captured enemy gear, especially in the eastern front.

I've read accounts of German soldiers on the Eastern Front actually preferring the PPSH-41 because it was more reliable / durable than what they were issued

Even converted many to 9mm and used MP40 mags.
