How come there has never been a select-fire revolver? Is such a thing possible? If so are there any examples?
Holy fuck what a stupid thread.
The same reason why nobody ever made a Barrett M82 in select fire.
>>33864553
I think OP is more interested in if it's possible.
>>33864541
Wonder if someone can make an autosear for a Mateba?
>>33864553
>>33864573
I think we can agree that the "How come there has never been" question is pretty self-explanatory. Yeah, it's possible, but it'd be fucking pointless. It'd be horribly inefficient even if you made one based on the Dardick revolver.
>>33864541
you are a goddamn idiot OP.
The meatba was full auto
Webley-Fosbury would go auto when the sear got worn.
But you only got at most a 6 round burst.
>>33864541
faggot
>>33864573
Fair enough. There is no blowback/gas system to reset the hammer. You would need another system to recock and release it. An electronic system could be designed to do this. Since it's electronic you could select burst fire or full auto. You'd also be a faggot who designed a system nobody wants.
>>33864841
Lol, how? What reset the hammer?
>>33864864
It's a blowback autococking revolver.
>>33864864
The Webley fosbery was recoil operated.
>>33864871
It's more of a recoil operated, really.
>>33864657
That's the only way I thought it could be possible
>>33864864
>See the schematic.
Once the hammer is manually cocked for the first shot and released for the first shot, as the upper frame recoils the lower spur of the hammer cocks against the rear of the lower frame. If the sear is old and worn, it sometimes doesnt hold the hammer back as the upper frame returns to battery and the hammer drops on the next round.
>Rinse.
>Repeat.
A runaway revolver until the cylinder is empty.
>>33864657
Now I know why Matebas are known for breaking the stock grips.
>>33864894
On the bright side, it can't fire out of battery.
>>33864841
>Webley-Fosbury would go auto when the sear got worn.
But you only got at most a 6 round burst.
Not if you go full Bioshock
The Pancor Jackhammer was a select fire revolver.
>it will never see the light of day
>>33865269
>one was sold at auction a few months ago
>the buyer didn't take it apart so that every piece could be scanned in a 3D scanner
What a waste.
>>33864541
Because without some kind of automatic system to allow the hammer to be cocked with each shot an auto-sear would do nothing.
And adding a system like that to a revolver is bulky and bothersome.
And then you're looking at turning a bulky and bothersome pistol into a machinegun when it doesn't even hold 10 rounds, much less 20 or 30, and it would just be easier and better to make a conventional automatic.
