I have a load of Ron Volstad pics, if you don't mind I will start with the WW2 German stuff. If you want Cold War era stuff you just need to tell me.

Can someone make a version of this with that guy who made terribly photoshoped photos of him dying as the German Army?
Damn myself, just now I read that you want with the descriptions, so let me just skip the dragon covers and go directly to the Osprey MaM illustrations.

Use Libgen, they probably have it. If I not mistaken your image is from the book "US Army Combat Equipments 1910–88"

Not exactly a country but I could not get a decent image from the Civil War.
So here we have an Irish volunteer 1915 lucky enough to actually get a gun and uniform.

Is there something along the lines of Soviet web gear in picture format showing the progression from WW2 to 1991?
>>33860814
Unfortunately no. Nothing in the same molds of those images of the US gear posted by that other anon, at least not from Osprey. Maybe Schiffer Publishing could have a title on the matter, but then it would be presented in photografies.

Well poo.
I noticed that in most pictures Soviet and Warsaw pact web gear tend to be simplistic and primitive compared to US and UK during the time. Large amount of leather and some synthetic fabric webbing compared to wholly fabric then synthetic webbing of NATO.
Then Soviets went into Afghanistan things went crazy.
I want a suit cut from East German camo

I thought he was holding the pickaxe and gun at the same time

Now that you said it, indeed it doesn't look like that their web gear evolved much since ww2.

Its the leather that gets me. The leather gave me the strange impression that Soviet webbing design did not move much until the 1980s.

I've always wondered, what's the history with Russia and the stripped shirts?

That anti-NVG camo looked pretty neat, but was it that effective?

Somebody did a NVG test using US AN/PVS-14s. the Night Desert Camo concealed the user pretty well in direct moonlight, shadowed desert terrain and surprisingly well in grassy areas with shadows. Shadows seem to help the NDC as it was pretty much ineffective under flat featureless desert conditions in Iraq.
