Youngfag here /k/. Getting ready to graduate from ISU this year and I'm deciding on what should be my first rifle to buy since I'm trying to start a collection like my dad. My price range stops at 700. What should I get and what should I put on it?
>>
$500 AR15 + $200 of mags
>>
>>33858729
Do you want to get good at the range, or muh home deefens? .22 is the cheapest and the best for evolving as a shooter
>>
>>33858729

SKS, $300 worth of ammo, spend the remaining money on vodka and sausages.
>>
>>33858757
>$200 of mags

25 magazines is a bit much, senpai.
>>
Sorry all I was microwaving shit

>>33858757
Well what should the AR be chambered in? 7.62? 5.56?

>>33858824
A shooting gun mainly. I grew up with guns so I can handle most calibers, but I've just never got familiar with a certain line.

>>33858845
Which SKS? Also which vodka?
>>
>>33858729
Hey. that is Bull's Eye in Lawrencevile Georgia.
>>
>>33858883
>Well what should the AR be chambered in? 7.62? 5.56?

be a snowflake and get it in 6.5 grendel. wolf sells it for about the same price as 5.56.

don't get an SKS or AK, they're both overpriced and ARs are officially cheaper.
>>
>>33858883

I like chink SKS because the spike bayonet is useful in everyday life. Also ignore >>33858914 this lying pointer.
>>
>>33858906
Correct I just googled gun shop.

>>33858914
Anon, you do remember I'm getting OUT of college right?

>>33858931
See I've used various of the Chinese ones from military surplus to Norinco. I walked into a pawn shop by my dads awhile back and saw a paratroop SKSM for like 130. I'll definitely keep a SKS in mind since I know they're perfect for beginner gunsmiths.
>>
>>33858874
You're right. A dozen, a carrier, and a sling.
>>
>>33858883
>did you mean a normal AR15, or some silly bullshit?

.50 Beowulf or bust, nigga.
>>
>>33858966
I never said I wanted to be oper8r

>>33858986
Anon I'm not trying to let people know I have a small penis and no money left in my trust fund.
>>
>>33858966

i was thinking 6-8 but yeah that's a bit more realistic. i guess it just depends on how often you go shooting.
>>
>>33859016
Assuming you want a rifle are you going for target, hunting, defense, or a mix (and what mix)
>>
>>33859041
Mainly shooting and defense if need be. There's actually an outdoor range close to where I want to move to.
>>
>>33859063
Hmm so likely a semi auto mag fed. What is your budget and intended distance of shooting (outdoor range not home)
>>
>>33859016
>I never said I wanted to be oper8r
Target shooting is very nice with a dozen mags, a carrier, and a sling.
>>
>>33859097
>My price range stops at 700.
My shooting distance most likely will be around 15-20 yards due to the size of the range itself.

>>33859098
I will honestly apologize as the second you said carrier every gear queer thread popped into my mind. What carrier would you suggest then?
>>
>>33859124
Hmm 500 range ar in 5.56 its generic but it fits unless you are in commie state then your options suck
>>
>>33858986
Are you sure thats not 458 socom?
>>
>>33859124
IDK. Something airshit grade should be sufficient. Botach are a bunch of shitheels, but maybe this?

https://www.botach.com/12-magazines-package-deal/

Or maybe a surplus Fighting Load Carrier with pouches, or Tactical Assault Panel, off Ebay.

.458 SOCOM is necked slightly.
>>
>>33859168
I'm moving up to Wisconsin and I heard it's relatively easy to grab anything there. My only issue with ARs is that there's so many out there and from what I'm told a hundred dollar difference can greatly change quality.

>>33859197
Seems decent at least. but I want to worry about nabbing a decent rifle first. I'll keep this in mind if I get an AR though thanks.
>>
>>33858729
I would never in a million years ask this hive of knowledgeless degenerates anything about firearms, especially what to buy. /k/ is the place you go to when you're feeling kind of down in the dumps so you can say "well my live is leaps and bounds better by comparison ". If you don't already know then wait till you do.

>>33859251
I just wanted to get advice from a board not completely full of fags and cucks anon.
>>
>>33859242
Bunch of ok to good options in your price range ask for the price guide infograph on arg
>>
>>33859323
and then fags and cucks told you to get a snowflake caliber for your first gun at under $700.

Ignore those fucking faggots. Get a standard AR-15.
>>
>>33859323
Ar15 in 556
Start there, its a good baseline
Eventually you will develop some tastes towards something new and have a better idea of what to work with

Ar is great from 0 to 300 yards so that covers everything. Then shoot it fo a while get good and maybe youll find you want a .300 mag long range.. or a vector for cqb.

Start with the 15 and let time do the rest
>>
>>33859423
Someone suggested a SKS and I appreciated it.

>>33859387
I'll give it a try

>>33859433
I get it, get used to it and as I see it's capabilities move on if I feel it's necessary.
>>
>>33859433
And if you were looking for something less ubiquitous as a first you will either have to add money to the budget or look at something not semi action (or a sks/ak pattern)
