I'm brand new to guns, where do I start?
>>
>>33858702
With guns
>>
If you don't know any shooters, grab your wallet, go to a range that rents guns, and ask for an introductory lesson.
>>
>>33858733

I know how to shoot, I just want to know more about actual guns. Which ones are good, what to look for, etc.
>>
>>33858762
What do you want to do with the guns? Shoot deer? Paper? People?
>>
>>33858790

I just want to learn more about them so I'm not fucked in a shtf scenario...
>>
>>33858800
Knowing about guns isn't going to help. Either you've practiced using them, or you haven't. It's a skill.
>>
>>33858843
So how do I practice? What kind of gun is easiest to buy and mess around with (take apart, clean, etc.)
>>
>>33858887
So you're an American, wanting to prepare in case of some sort of SHTF scenario, yes?

Minor shit? A Glock 17 or 19.
Serious shit? An AR15.

You practice by standing in your bedroom with the gun unloaded, going through the motions of drawing it, aiming and firing, dropping and inserting magazines, and cycling the action to clear jams. You want the movements to be pure muscle memory, like typing on a keyboard.

You also practice by shooting the gun. Preferably not in your bedroom.
>>
>>33858702
1. how much money do you have to spend
2. what kind of gun? (pistol, shotgun, rifle etc)
3. purpose? (hunting, ccw, range toy)
>>
>>33858952
This, and try not to be overly autistic about it.

Getting in shape is monumentally more important for literally everything if you haven't done that already.

I'd focus on that first before buying tons of guns, but it's your money.
>>
How much would you guys pay for a 1934 Izzy M91/30 mosin dragoon with a hex receiver and a good bore with all matching serial numbers? Listed for $290

>I know how to shoot
>but I'm brand new to guns

Anon video games do not teach you how to shoot.
>>
>>33858978

Not OP but similar situation. Former noguns fag, but I've seen the light.

1) Up to $1000
2) Would prefer to start with a pistol
3) For now, something to practice with at the range. I want to learn how to shoot and handle it first, not looking to ccw right away. Something versatile, I guess?
>>
>>33858887
oh my fucking god youre fucking retarded.
use fucking google
saged
>>
>>33859596
take a lesson

Hi points
>>
>>33858702
Get a 22 rifle.
Then get a shotgun.
Then get a pistol/rifle.
Then get whatever you didn't get.
>>
Save up 250 dollars and get a hipoint 995 9mm carbine and buy red ball 20 round mags or get a maverick 88 and a 12 Lee load all 12 gauge loader
>>
>>33858762
>I know how to shoot
No you don't.
>>
>>33858702

most of the handgun on this list is good the the price is old.
for training in handgun get a 9mm since the ammo is cheap also in SHTF 9mm is the most abundant round
>>
>>33859619
He did, hence why he's here.
>>33858702
Alright so the first thing you absolutely must know is that always keep your finger off the teigger unless you're going to kill something, treat all firearms as if they were loaded at all times, never aim a weapon at anything you aren't ready to destroy.
For shtf (realistically) get yourself a proper knife, a handgun and a rifle or shotgun.
22lr is a good cartridge given its small/cheap/plentiful a 10/22 is a cheap rifle whuch will get you out of a jam however if you want something a bit more versatile you can't go wrong with a basic ar and 3 mags of 5.56. Now if you prefer a shotgun a maverick 88 is a cheap yet quality product, get a sling for it and a flashlight for optimal efficiency load it up with some 00 and aint nothing on this world it wont kill...eventually.
For ccw a s&w 642 won't do you wrong its a 5 shot double action revolver however its snubnose offers for great concealability and it wont weigh you down much at all. For semi auto a glock 17 is a nice full size option

These are some budget option and no item here should surpass $500 you can pick and choose to your own discretion

To fight the Patriarchy!
>>
>>33862522
op this

go to local range take the $100 intro class
>>
>>33862693
Open it in a new tab and delete the "m" at the end of the number, right before the ".jpg". 4chan compresses large images for mobile, but you can do that for any image that happens to.
>>
>>33862713
the world isn't made of cotton you jungle bunny
>>
>>33862693
>>33864249
At the end of the number in the URL. Sorry I forgot to specify.
>>
>>33858702
If you think you may want to CC eventually, S&W are having a promotion for M&P Shields right now where you get a $75 dollar rebate, bringing the price significantly down.
>>
>>33858733
booo takes too long. Skip the tutorial shit OP, just don't point it at anyone and keep your finger off the trigger
>>
>>33858762
Well that depends OP. There's tons of good guns. Just depends on what you want for your personal needs. Is it for home defense? Then you want a shotgun like a mossberg 500. Is it for personal carry? Then you want a pistol like a glock, berretta, hk, cz, smith wesson, etc. Want something that will never jam and look badass with and just have fun. Go with a 357 or 44 magnum
>>
>>33864433
Scared the government will break into your home? Live next to crackheads? Get an AR 15 or AK.

Don't have any money? Get an SKS or Mosin Nagant
>>
There's nowhere to "start" all of them are dangerous weapons, not things with training wheels. But I suppose if you want something less powerful to get used to it you could go with a 22 rifle or a .38 revolver
