Hello /k/, I'm looking to buy a new gun soon, and I'm having a really hard time picking between the AUG A3 from Pete Athens, (1300-1600$) and a FAN PS90 (1200-1300$)
I understand the argument that the ps90 has a cucked cartridge, but it's super comfy to shoot and I'm not buying this guns for
> mAh prep
> Shtf guys
I buy guns to have fun at the range, and I get joy from having a cool piece of engineering that I can clean and take care of and holds resale value.

On the other hand, I have owned an Aug, with the NATO stock (no bolt release, easier mag change, and uses armags) and I wasn't the biggest fan. Maybe I don't like bullpups but I'm trying. It want the trigger, it was the cheek weld with the carry handle 3x optic, just didn't seem to fit. If I get an Aug and a flat top rail and trijicon, I think I'll like it better.

I know the ps90 looks pretty goofy with the long barrel, but I'd cut it down, and tac weld a fake suppressor to it untill I move out of the people's republic and can SBR it.

Not sure if either will be my go to HD gun, but its a good option to keep in mind, and the vmax bullets for the 5.7 seem pretty nasty, in ballistics tests, and in person tests on drywall and pig carcass. Obviously not as powerful as 5.56, but still seems practical for the purpose of filling a badguy/crackhead with holes really fast that he doesn't want.

I have an ar15, and I like it. And ar10, milsurp, and even a scorpion Evo pistol with the brace.

I need a tie breaker, i know people love and hate both these guns for a wide range of reasons.
Should I just get a papm92 and say screw it?

What do you think?

Also let's hate on DesTech mdr because let's face it folks, it's never gonna see the light of day.
>>
>>33858682
>I buy guns to have fun at the range,
Then you shouldn't buy an AUG.
>>
>>33858692
Right? This is kind of what I was thinking, the muzzle blast was pretty fucking close to my face and the tulip flash hider doesn't help.

What's your reasoning though?
>>
>>33858754
The ergonomics are shit, the trigger pull is shit, the aftermarket is a joke, it's easily the shittiest of the service bullpups available to us civvies.
>>
>>33858771
So, is this an argument for the ps90? Because the ps90 has an even worse aftermarket. Trigger is better though I'll give you that, but I have alot of milsurp and bad triggers aren't a huge issue for me. The tavor is pretty bad, is it the shitty bullpup?
You make good points about the ergos, the weight was sort of odd for a weapon that size too.

Not concerned with ammo price, seems like the 5.7 is about 30 cents a round for the vmax stuff and 25-27 for fed/American eagle
Also 303 Brit, 8mm and other shit is pretty expensive.

>>33858771
I disagree with pretty much all of this
source: I own an AUG
>>
>>33858828
I just love the bullpup aesthetic,
Other than the tavor and f2000

What do you use your Aug for senpai? What are the pros and cons. I owned one but I sold it after just a handful of uses because I wanted a motorcycle and tried to switch hobbies
Couldn't
Love guns too much so I'm considering buying another.

But I like the ps90 too and I've shot it a bunch of times.
>>
>>33858881
I use it for practical shooting, I've taken it to carbine courses and performed on par with AR users. It's also just fun, and looks cool, which I imagine is more important to you. After having it for as long as I have, and getting as familiar with it as I am, I struggle to think of complaints I have about it. It is well balanced, not rear heavy like the Tavor, and soft shooting, as you would expect. It has malfunctioned twice, in multiple thousands of rounds, with minimal cleaning and lubrication.

It is a robust, reliable design that has never let me down, however much that means for a range toy.
>>
>>33858961
How does it handle cheap steel case shitammo?

Only used brass but now I have 5k rounds of wolf 5.56

I do like it to look cool, I'll admit it, and I don't think that's a fault, I'm a huge fan of
> Aesthetics
I've never done more than an accuracy competition, but I've seen fellas use the AUG in 3 gun and I hear people complain about the mag changes but it doesn't really seem like an issue unless you're really that opposed to anything that isn't an AR or AK or (xxxx)

I do have to say though, the trigger is pretty mushy. Like, a long travel and short reset. Do you have any experience with the ratworx aftermarket trigger thing or the trigger tamer?
>>
>>33858999
On mine I just turn the gas on high flow.

Don't run brass after steel. Laqcuer sticks to brass like glue, had it rip the rim off of a round.

Trigger is crap. Get a trigger tamer.
>>
>>33858828
Yuge aftermarket for that thing, eh?
>>
>>33859021
what do you want to change

>>33858999
I prefer to shoot wolf gold, but have shot tula without incident. That said, others have struggled to run steel in theirs.

Mag changes are a training issue, like most complaints people have about bullpups. The stock trigger has served me as well as any. Again it's a training issue. That said, I do plan on getting Geissele's AUG trigger once it's out.
>>
>>33859018
I'll have to do that
>>33859021
Not a big one but you can replace the stock with one that accepts ar mags, a few options to upgrade the trigger, bunch of different rail styles, new changing handles, barrel sizes, needs thread adapter to use new muzzle stuff or can be rethreaded.

Bigger than the aftermarket for the ps90 and more effective than the aftermarket for the tavor
Other than tavor being able to do 9mm, Aug can too but it cost upwards of 2500$ because
> Thanks Obama

So you've never actually shot or owned one then? Trigger is not bad at all, ergos are actually amazing. Everyone I've ever let shoot/hold her is amazed at the balance and how natural it is to point her. Downside is you'll have to retrain yourself on reloads if you're used to button release, but that just means more time with your gun. Aftermarket is admittedly a problem, but the things that needed aftermarket most have it and are used (charging handle, rails, etc).

>>33858682
Personally OP I'd tell you this, if you didn't like the NATO you probably won't necessarily like the standard, but if it was the optic bothering you a flat top might appeal to you more.

I'll admit it's a little blog-post-y but I was really trying to aim the conversation so that the thread didn't just descend into shitposts by noguns or people who don't have bullpups in thier collection who weren't contributing anything to the threat like you so poignantly pointed out in your constructive criticism

>>33859083
I feel this, I want to give the Aug another try, this time with a trijicon or high-end aimpoint, and maybe a longer barrel. I don't like the fact I can't put a comp on it though, without it looking totally bonkers.

Shameless self bump

Anybody have any ps90 opinions?
>>
>>33859325
That doesn't look bad, some of the thread adapters are really chunky looking.
>>33859336
I know, I feel awful but I drunk bid and won a short rail fde 16inch on GunBroker for 1330 with shipping, to cerakote it green and get the long rail from Pete I'd total about 1555 and pete said he'd charge me 1600 for the green with the 20 inch barrel and long rails.
Might just buy the one I didn't like as much to hide my autism. Didn't mean to win that bid lol

But Everytime I look at and hold a ps90 it seems so comfy, I guess I could get one in the Future.

If you don't like the AUG, it's okay. You most likely suffer from chronic shit taste. See an ENT for an official diagnosis.

That being said, AUGs really are fantastic rifles with a couple of small issues. The largest is the weight of that huge chunk of metal known as the receiver.

Complaints about ergonomics and reloads are always from people who have never shot them. Always.

Oh, and the NATO stock is a waste. AUG mags are cheap. Like $22 a piece cheap. They're also super high quality.

It's tough comparing the pros and cons of these two guns. I bought a ps90 awhile back and it definitely wasn't my favorite purchase. I like the 5.7 and all, but I wouldn't replace a .223 with it. Personally I like how the tavor is back heavy and I don't care much for fancy aftermarket. I wish I could've gotten ahold of an mp5 clone or something.

Funny you should mention that...
I was considering getting the MP5 clone along with these guns but the price is just too high to justify it
