You fags need to learn something. Things like...
>striker-fired
and
>all metal

These are not categories of guns. If you are looking for a handgun to buy, all you're doing is limiting yourself to compromises when you don't need to. Metal-framed handguns are needlessly heavy. The point of a handgun is to be able to carry a portable firearm comfortably. Weight is the enemy of comfort and portability.

Even more of a stupid gimmick than the Hudson H9. At least that stupid un-concealable meme gun fires normal, proven ammo with something approaching availability.

I like the Ruger P89DC. It is all metal, very durable, no safety, SA/DA, inexpensive, and very reliable. There are those that say "but...but da weight!". It is a heavy gun, but I am not a fag so I have zero problems carrying it with an Alien Gear IWB holster. I replaced the controls with stainless steel cuz muh aesthetics.

If anyone wants to buy a CZ for less than 1k and not put any work into it, I'd recommend an 85 Combat to them without question. The trigger and sights that those come with seem quite nice. Personally I'd rather start with a basic gun and make my own choices for those upgrades though.

Regardless, I think 85s look better with the ambi safety. Too much flat space on the right side of the plain 75s.

I was the same until one day instead of listings there was one at the LGS and suddenly I was out almost 700 dollars after taxes and some boxes of ammo

Boberg was really more of an attempt to try to incorporate a bullpup design in a pistol. Boberg has a nasty habit of actually pulling the case of of the cartridge because of it's feeding mechanism.

If you want a affordable da/sa all metal handgun you can try looking into the SW 3913.
They started making these after the popularity of people modifying full size SW 39's into tiny sub compact guns like the asp.

That missing piece of metal keeps the weight below 1300g, which is the max weight for some competitions.
The Shadow 2 has it and is just slightly over the weight limit.
>>
>>33864140
Everything is loud, especially in a handgun. If you're worried about muzzle blast, look into low pressure/low noise rounds like .38 Spl, .44 Spl or .45 Colt for something with decent ballistics.

Question

Anyone here shot or finger fucked a P09 or P07 suppressor ready?

I'm interested in a full size duty 9mm that is suppressor ready and was considering the P09.

Can anyone describe the trigger?
How is the take up? Is the wall pronounced? How is the creep through the wall?

I'm looking for minimum creep, and crisp clean wall/break.

Is the P09 a good option?

I had my hands on an SP01 suppressor ready the other day and I was disappointed that the trig had no real noticeable wall, quite a bit of creep (at least it was smooth), and consequently not a very clean crisp break.

Thoughts?

I'm thinking about getting a P226. They seem to have the most pronounced walls, crisp breaks, and minimal creep of the DA/SA.

I believe that Tanfoglio actually has majority, or at least a sizable ownership stake in EAA.

Personally, I've only had to deal with their CS to do the firing pin recall on my old AE serial Witness Compact, and didn't suffer any issues from it.
Tanfoglio guns do deserve a much better importer who can market them much better though. With the steel frames starting at $300 and the poly at $260, I firmly believe they are the absolute best value you can get in a gun on the market right now - nevermind that the guns themselves are well above average.

Unbelievable that such well-made guns from Italy are literally selling cheaper than utter shit from Brazil - but then again, I remember when CZ-75s could be had for $400 new too.

Now is the best time for it. It's always had a good reputation and now it's going through a renaissance with everyone and their mother going on YouTube and saying how they rented it from a warlock in a hidden corner of Dusseldorf and they decided there it was the best CC pistol ever made. I think it would be a great choice to update it (polymer, modern drop safeties, bring it out the door with plenty of customization options) and release it in the US market with their upcoming Georgia factory. It's capacity was always good, it's got an 8-round single-stack and a later iteration was a 13-round double stack. Anything more and it becomes too wide to be that great hybrid of duty pistol and subcompact. I would totally buy one.

While I somewhat agree I'm not completely sure about putting .30 mauser in that club, the five-meme flings a bullet quarter the weight at double the velocity.
And there's several good reasons why those relatively low mass-high velocity cartridges got replaced by slower fatter bullets instead of .22 magnum or some shit
>>
>>33873371
It's a different ball game from when we were shooting Muslim fanatics with .32 fmj slugs. A modern low-mass/high-velocity bullet is much more lethal with the quality of powder and bullet design we have now. We're not going to be firing .22 Magnum in the future, we're going to be firing bullets that travel at 1500 fps and turn into blooming onions on PCP at impact. Spitzer pistol rounds feed much more reliably and can load more powder, they're objectively better, it's about when someone with the money and credibility dives into the deep end and puts something out there. FN got fucked up by NATO politicking but even they probably wouldn't say the P90 plan was a failure.

>wanting compact .45's
Why is this so prevalent?
>>
>>33880375
Well .45 is still a fairly popular round, so naturally people would want the same caliber carry gun as the one they shoot with. while on the topic I wonder if .45 does better out nof super short subcompact barrels vs 9mm, like how .300AAC is better out of a sort Barrel than a 5.56.
>>
>>33880459
I wouldn't want a .45 with anything less than a 4.5", *maybe* 4" barrel...9mm I'd feel comfortable going down a bit more.
>>
>>33880459
It's the opposite, think through the physics for a second. Gunpowder can only create acceleration while the cartridge is in the barrel. A bigger bullet requires more force behind it to create acceleration. Therefore, a fuddy-five needs more barrel, more burned powder, to reach a desired speed than 9mm.
>>
>>33880541
More space for burning to happen in a bigger caliber barrel tho
>>
>>33859850
Only pussies dont conceal carry full sized pistols. Try harder, suburban faglords.
>>
>>33880553
It's much less space provided than an inch of barrel. Keep in mind that .45 is subsonic out of a 5" barrel, a barrel usually considered unnecessarily long for 9mm.

I dont personally have experience with compact pistols, or carrying.
But from what I know, if you want to look at CZ's, you could definitely look at the various compact models (CZ 75 Compact, 75 D PCR, P-01) and then use aftermarket parts to upgrade them to performance more or less equivalent to the shadow line. This would likely require upgrading the trigger, hammer, and some springs, all of which could be had from CZC or CGW as previously mentioned. Pic related is an upgraded P-01, looks like this guy did the hammer, sights, and grips, and it's probably safe to assume he did some springs/internals upgrades as well.

So you've got options from CZ, but you won't get high end parts from the factory like you would with a Shadow gun. Personally I've got my eye on the P-01 as a carry gun for winter/cold weather. Unfortunately CZ doesn't really make any lightweight compacts so you'd have to go elsewhere for that.

Personal preference:

Duty: CZ-75 variants, 1911, then sig p226

CC: CZ PCR/P01, 1911, then sig p229

Lots of people would prefer the sig over the other two, particularly for serious use due to their reputation for reliability.

Personally I don't find MY CZs or 1911s to be unreliable and prefer them to Sigs.

Guys I have a question about frame service life.
What happens when a frame exceeds it's service life ?
What issues does it have ?
Will it always crack ?
What about these frame rails that the slide rides on ?
What would happen if you kept replacing slides and keeping the original frame ( assuming it doesn't crack ) ?
Are these frame rails the only thing that would keep it from working forever ?
Would it be easy to repair if you can't weld ?
>>
>>33875869
Yeah for whatever reason they decided on using ultralight (90-115gr) .312" bullets.

They have also stated that they as a company have no intention of producing just the bullet for sale to reloaders, and while I suppose it's theoretically possible to load up some of the lighter (as in, ~160gr) .303brit bullets at significantly reduced velocity they'll lose all of their effectiveness.
>>
>>33882319
>what happens when a frame exceeds its service life?
It's given to the National Guard or Marine Reserves.
>what issues does it have?
Other than being sloppier than a 40 year old whore's vag? Cracked frame, gouged or worn-to-nothing frame rails, bent dust cover or magwell, stretching of the frame to where shit doesn't line up even close to right.
>will it always crack?
Eventually. Whether that's at 25,000 rounds or 250,000 rounds is impossible to tell though.
>what about these frame rails
Usually wear out, but the gun will still be functional if inaccurate until they've worn enough the slide literally can be pulled up and off them.
>are these frame rails the only thing that would keep it from working forever?
Fuck no. Pin holes will egg out, the frame itself will stretch, shit will get bent.
>would it be easy to repair if you can't weld?
Fuck no. And being an aluminum alloy frame, welding (while doable) is a very VERY temporary fix.
>>
>>33882425
Does this also apply to pistols like the S&W M&P series, where there is a chassis inside the frame that holds the trigger group and frame rails ?
>>
>>33882384
You can tell them to go fuck themselves and make a casting mold to sell.
>>
>>33882476
To at least some extent yes.

Steel slide rails can be welded up and re-cut (although this is rarely economical enough to be worth it). While ALL frames and sub-frames will eventually stretch, steel frames take so many hundreds of thousands of rounds to do so (provided they're properly designed or the gun hasn't been re-chambered to a wildcat magnum) the frame will fail in a different way before the stretching is severe enough to cause issues.

Cracking will always be an issue regardless of material or design. The question is when, and at what point is it acceptable for them to start cracking. Same thing with pin holes egging out.
>>
>>33882496
I'm sure Accurate or NOE would make you a full-custom one cheaper than FK would sell one.

Or chop the back third off a Lyman .303brit mould.

>super high pressure, high velocity mini rifle round
>cast bullet
I seriously hope you have a lot of experience with gas checks and powder coating.
>>
>>33882550
Can you explain more about these pin holes egging out ?
What causes that to happen and what is the result ?
>>
>>33882649
Normal wear and tear, although it takes a LOT of shooting to damage them enough to start causing malfunctions.

Basically the pin holes get sloppy enough parts no longer stay in their proper alignment. This can cause basically all kinds of different problems depending on which part of the gun isn't in its proper alignment.
>>
>>33878458

Good for you, really, everyone says it is a great gun - but I personally could never bring myself to buy something like that. It just looks garish to me. TBF, I want to know why they call it "Urban Grey" in the first place. I assume it's meant to denote some sort of urban camo, but I don't see that helping or hurting anymore than just black would.

No faggot I can see the discoloration in the grouting. You don't clean your floors enough.
>>
>>33882774

Not him, but your floor is dirty.

The grain between the tiles says that you haven't properly mopped those floors in a long ass time. Or if you have, you're basically just using water. Get some stronger cleaner.
>>
>>33882788
That's the color pattern of the tiles you dumb faggot.
Hell I bet my room is a lot cleaner than yours given I run my air conditioner 24/7 and that the air filter captures a lot of the dust in the air.
>>
>>33882755
Generally, but it's also normally a non-issue. So much else in a gun fails first most of the time.

No, 3D printing under current tech doesn't have the strength to be used in even rimfire repeating pistols.
>>
>>33882836

We are talking about the grout, grout (when cleaned) is always white. Unless it's super old and you're a heavy smoker, then it's stained yellow. When it gets dirty, it turns darker. We can both see how the grout is darker than it would be if you had mopped the floors properly.
>>
>>33882868
You mean the sections in between the tiles?
Yeah I just tried scrubbing that with some bleach and it did nothing.

I regularly think about if one day my evil government bans all further sales of firearms parts, if it would be possible for a user who has no experience in gunsmithing, to repair a pistol frame indefinitely.
And if so, what would be required of it.
I'm guessing since frame stretching and the wear on the rails, it would already require the manufacturing of an entirely new frame.
Is there anything that comes to mind or would everyone in this scenario need to become a metalworker ?
I'm assuming this also applies to the receivers of rifles ?
>>
>>33882845
>No, 3D printing under current tech doesn't have the strength to be used in even rimfire repeating pistols.

I am going to split hairs here.

You probably could, it just isn't economically feasible and further, pretty much no one who isn't a millionaire could do it.

This part is almost entirely 3D printed. You can see the portions that aren't given the stark contrast, but it is capable of handling some truly absurd variances in temperature and G force being applied to it without issue. The chamber has a psi of 1,000 for instance, and the rocket itself can generate over 16,000 lbf.

Since the chamber can withstand these sorts of forces, I can't see why you couldn't build a gun using a printer. They sell for like 200k per unit though, IIRC.

That gains a lot of its structural integrity from its shape. Round/spherical objects are very resistant to burst pressures.

Pistols are usually represented in some variation of a rectangle. Your widely or commonly available (at any price) 3D printer filaments simply don't have the tensile strength to do a pistol frame, end of story.
>>
>>33882971
Yeah and it probably is you imbecile.
Air contains a lot of dust(lot of human skin and mite shit) so the air conditioner running all the time does clean the air and keep some of it from getting unto services.

Yeah I'm a fairly organized person and not really a pig.
If the dirt is engrained in then I really don't care since it's not spreading around and since I didn't cause it since I I clean.

This requires welding though (or at least I believe it does), which I consider part of the metalworking craft.

Either way I think I'll just have to accept the fact that my great grandchildren will have to replace my pistol frame or become gunsmiths.

Unless I become one first.
>>
>>33883049

Well, kinda.

They used a EOS 3D Metal Printer, and Inconel.

The fact that it's made from Inconel probably is one of the reasons why it works at all. There's nothing polymer or carbon there. Just metal alloy.

>reputation for reliability
Honestly, at this point I personally don't think reliability is worth making a point of. The majority of the popular choices for duty guns are reliable. Glocks, CZs, Sigs, S&W, I don't know of a major player that markets a gun as a duty weapon that isn't reliable.

This isn't a knock against anyone's beliefs or arguments. I just think we live in a time where firearms are designed well enough that as long as you're not buying some cheap piece of shit, the market is saturated with duty weapons that have extremely high reliability. Preference and performance are what should be focused on.
>>
>>33883426
no guns are even reliable enough yet to pass macs backyard mud test much less actual combat scenarios consistently. any modern gun would jam to fuck in a ww1 muddy trench type battle. we're lucky we are only fighting in the middle east right now where there is no mud
