Is this really allowed ? I mean isn't letting a man with prosthesis going back to combat dangerous for himself and his combat group ?

Btw is this regular infantry or SF ?
>>
>>33856877
It's really common for dudes with lost legs to be back in action. He a guy missing a leg in my unit in the mid 2000s. As long as he can perform the job physically, he's gtg.

The dude is a Green Beret, check dem early AORs.

>>33856823
Tbh, I have a great job in EMS, I'm about to be picked up by a big city PD, and I still contemplate enlisting because a large part of me really, really wants to. But, until God Emperor Trump declares war on the Norks, or we go balls deep in Syria, I think I'm gonna hold off.

>>33856877
Judging by the weapon, and other aspects of the picture, some form of SOF. SOF has a lot of guys with prosthetics. Hell, a Medal of Honor recipient has a prosthetic hand and has deployed several times with it. Operators acquire skillsets that are very hard, time consuming, and EXPENSIVE to reproduce. If they're willing to keep going, it's generally better to keep them in with the prosthetic than kick them out. Also, consider the (generally speaking) short nature of their individual missions. He isn't likely to be doing a 30mi ruck march through the mountains in SOF, he's likely to be dropped by Helo, murder some people, and go home. And, if he is doing a 30mi ruck march, his calf wont get tired.
>>
>>33856927
Plus judging by that hairline, he's fairly senior in the job. With that leg, he might be on more relatively light duty. SF still need SNCOs to do bullshit reports, oversea mission AARs, and go interface with retarded working groups.

I'm not disputing this, I figured he was DEVGRU based on armament and the distinctive camoflage.

"Go big or go home" mentality. Completely understand what NG and Reserves do, respect them all the same, but if I do enlist I, I want a higher deployment tempo. I was offered a 68W Opt40 last year by the county's Army Recruitment HQ but I wasn't, in my opinion, in shape enough to make it through RASP. And I didn't want to get sent to the 82nd like every other failed Opt 40.

You could always start out Guard and then switch to active if that's what you really want. That seems like it's actually going to be a realistic option for the next few years for guys who are tired of the weekend warrior life. Plus if you are in big city, the unit's are more than likely going to be squared away compared to BFE units and you'll be guaranteed to have cops from other localities in your unit which is great for networking purposes.
>>
>>33856877
surprisingly common to keep amputees. Even people who have lost their arm can do some type of work. We had a guy who mainly worked in office after he lost his arm, but we would always ask if he could be our dummy for medical cases. People freaked the fuck out when they saw the guy actual was missing an arm.

You don't "chose" to get deployed. At least pretend you know what you're talking about.
Expect at least 1 deployment for every 5 years in the guard. Even peace time. War and it's more often. NG has changed. It's cheaper to send the guard to war than active duty.

OP can just do 3 years in the guard and then go active if he wants. He's not going to do either because he's a pussy. No fucking way will he be a ranger. What is he 28? Most joined the Army straight out of high school. Kek.

Sooooo /k/:

I mean if the US has prosthetics that are so far developed that they even allow elite soldiers to go back into combat (and not only some deskjockey paper pushers) and we even see unrestricted pictures of said prosthetics.....

How war do you think are they behind the curtains? Do you think that there are real "six million dollar men"? Do they train a small unit of bionic super solders with steel under their skin and optronics for eyeballs?
>>
>>33868546
I think the modern version of "super soldiers" simply are men trained from birth/childhood to be soldiers. I have no doubt countries like china have done something like this. If they haven't they are stupid because its the logical first step to a perfect soldier.
>>
>>33868791
Yeah but with prosthetics already that far ain't there no chance that some countries went the extra mile and implanted such stuff on purpose to make those men stronger, more durable etc? Like "faster, stronger, better,
>>
>>33868815
The next step would be selective breeding, hormone therapy/steroids to make them athletic as possible.

Past that I have a hard time imagining what human augment would be beneficial in a fire fight or operating. You don't need to be super strong. Maybe they have developed an implant for low light vision or wired equipment into the human brain by this point. Or they cut off pilots legs like in starfox lol
