>The U.S. Navy, Air Force and Marine Corps all intend to replace the M9 9mm pistol with the Army’s new Modular Handgun System, service officials said today

https://kitup.military.com/2017/05/modular-handgun-system-3.html

Why don't you own a SIG P320 yet, /k/?

I own 2. The compact 9mm and the full size 357 Sig. I think they are great firearms.
>>
>>33856443
Cause I already own its xbox hueg grandfather, the P226
>>
>>33856443
Because I live in California and can't obtain a new one legally or I could do a private party transfer from some cop who will sell his for 300 dollars above msrp

>>33856443
they look a bit tacky imo

i'd much prefer a modern derivative of the hi-power as the replacement for the M9
>>
This decision was unbeleivably stupid. WHO wanted this? The only people who actually use pistols in combat are SOF, and even then it's a very limited and personal thing. They standardized on the Glock 19/pick their own pistols anyway. For everyone else who carries pistols and never (ever) uses them, the M9 is more than adequate. If they were going to replace it, why not just go with the M9A3? It would have been much more cost effective. I'm still having a difficult time accepting that this decision was made.

>implying anything is wrong with DA/SA
>>
>>33856535
It's outdated. There's no reason to use it over striker fired since you can train for the same trigger pull every time
>>
>>33856535

It's just fine for the civilian market, it's unnecessary for the military
>>
I'll wait a couple of years for the Army issue some ECPs to cover infant mortality issues, manufacturability, etc.

Also there's going to be a call of duty ghost recon navy seal black ops legion edition with THT (tactical hair trigger) MRS (Midget Reset System) and 11mm SIG
>>
>>33856496
>put hammer down on loaded cartridge
>exponentially more safety than glock brand glock licensed striker fire guns that just fire whenever 5 iron atoms nudge the striker in a particular way
>>
>>33856479
How would a M9A3 be more cost effective? You'd still be buying a large bulk of brand new pistols for arguably the same price.
>>
>>33856521
access =\= standardization

Don't pull the trigger and use a good holster. Do you want a beaver tail safety too, grandpa?
>>
>>33856772
>expecting responsibility and adherence to safety from MPs
ideally MPs should get simple rocks, but we have to give them guns so they should get the most reliable ones.
>>
>>33856692
They don't even surplus uniforms or gear anymore.

Our surplus/Disposal stores just sell cheap chinese camping gear printed in auscam.

Hi-powers are one of the few easily available off-the-shelf pistols that fit all the restrictions we have here though, so maybe a few will hit the market. If there's a flood of parts at least I'd seriously consider picking one up.

Glock bro here. I don't own one a. bc I have the superior Glock and b. bc they are not actually adopting the commercially available P320 but a mangled variant with shitty afterthought "safety". Why can't they durocoat that slide milling placeholder?

Pic related, when a competitor makes a better gun in your own caliber than you. SIG fukkbois btfo.
>>
>>33856479
The Sig is both lighter and cheaper than the M9A3, so not only does it provide a (admittedly small) benefit for all the people who have to carry one but will never shoot it, it's cheaper to acquire and maintain.

Because it's striker fired and I have a 250 anyways.

Poorfag for another 18 months. Got my Glocknade, AR, 870 (from 1967), and a 10/22. So I'll get one when the demand goes back down.

I do own one. I gave it my gf because she shot it better than a Glock 19 and it's not really deserving of the hype it gets, especially in regards to its stock trigger.

Chair force here. The US Air Force didn't adopt this gun. There is no replacement projected for the M9/M11 pistol.

Same mags, same holsters, some parts commonality such as trigger bars, hammer springs, recoil springs ect

>>33857384
Chair Force cops do

If there were any justice in the world, the market would soon be flooded with surplus M9s. But we all know that isn't going to happen.
