O'Toole, Scheer, Trost are the other good ones as far as guns go.

O'Toole is arguably even better than Bernier, since he wants a full repeal of the firearms act. Of course, that could wind up back firing. Trost is more socially conservative, which frankly would probably be a liability in the general election.

My own ballot is going O'Toole, Bernier, Scheer.

South Carolinian here, with questions.
I'm in the process of interviewing for a job in Canada.

I currently own 9 firearms - mostly long guns (a few of which are prohibited, and I'd need to sell), but I also have two revolvers - a .357 magnum and a .44 magnum.

How difficult is it to potentially import these/bring these with me, aside from getting my PAL? Is there anything particularly difficult about revolvers/RPAL?

Also, can I use a non-resident firearms declaration for 60 days even if I live in Canada on a temporary work visa? Just thinking of the logistics and timing here, I'd prefer to make as few trips back and forth as possible, given the 14 hour drive.
>>
>>33864194
I think he meant the entire rifle.
>And I hope they do, I'd love to grab one for cheap.
>>33864296
Restricted guns can be imported, the easiest way would be through an importation company like irunguns.ca or aztecharmory.com but you can do the paperwork yourself if you're so inclined. The main part is that you'll need a restricted license to receive them, and they'll need to be registered. As for using the temporary declaration, you'd have to ask border security on our side, or the RCMP. RCMP's firearms program is 1-8 0 0-7 3 1-4 0 0 0.
>Keep in mind the barrel on handguns has to be over 4.25" long or it's prohibited.
>>
>>33864296
>>33864409
The length is actually 106+mm, to be accurate (just over 4.173"). We say 4.2 to give a safety margin.

Like anon said, you should give them a call. Worst case, you could rent storage just on the us side of the border if necessary to cut down on drive time.
>>
>>33864409
Thanks.
And yes, they're both 6-inch barrels.

irunguns seems to be for purchasing from an FFL in the states, not for transferring a gun to yourself that you already possess, but I guess I can always use an FFL to "sell" it to myself.
>>
>>33864502
IRG is basically for transporting guns over the border. Since it's really only possible to ship it, to my limited knowledge, it's easiest to import to Canada via a company. That being said, you really should give them a call, but there should be a way for you to bring them here, but expect to pay for it.
>Mostly paying US export fees, from what I recall.
>>
>>33864472
I think I'll just give them a call and see about shipping it directly from SC then, after I get my PAL/RPAL.

Renting storage on the US probably isn't too feasible:

I'm not extremely familiar with NY's gun laws, but from what I understand, storing a handgun in the state can be more of a nightmare than getting one into Canada, as this requires registration and licensing specific to New York.

Michigan is a bit easier, but it's a bit more out of the way.
>>
>>33864296
Not even to bust your balls, but these types of legality questions should seriously be answered by the RCMP. They can help you way more than anyone here can, and actually give you legit legal advice. So call them, is my advice.
>>

>>
>>33869243
>before the old one is even near dead annoys me
When the thread hits the bump limit, it is effectively dead. Everyone abandons ship and jumps to the new thread, while the old one steadily makes its way to the last page. It's definitely not spam.
>>
>>33869291
If its on the 5th page, and people are still posting in it, its not really "dead". Dead is when it falls off the board.
>>
>>33869317
So take it up with those people. When there is a new, bumpable thread clearly linked at the end of a dying one, there is no reason to continue posting in the old one. Just let it quietly slide off the board.
>>
>>33869317
people are less inclined to continue posting if their posts will be short lived because the thread is no longer being bumped and its death is imminent.

canada general doesn't spam shit, these threads last for days and serve as pretty good containment for all /k/ related leaf discussion. there's definitely some garbage on this board but I'd say that's not us, except when autistic halifax guy and others talk non-/k/ politics. nothing that didn't serve its purpose is being lost when a new canada general pops up and some page 10 thread is killed.

>>
>>33869553
I think that is just the mindset these threads carry, was not trying to be hostile, but it was taken that way regardless.

>what the fuck are you doing here arguing against our presence on this board?

Since this don't seem to be getting across:
I'm not saying don't make Canada threads
I'm not saying they do not belong here on /k/
I'm not saying don't make any threads at all.

I just said I found it annoying when the old thread is still alive, half way through the catalog.

Its like some mentality that is built upon with depressing gun laws, and shitty politicians, and feeling of powerlessness to making anything better, make some want to act out against others defensively or something. I specifically said I wasn't trying arguing, but it looks like people want to argue.

Close, the upper is actually a Norinco A1 upper. I was looking to get an A2 upper with a 20" barrel, but got this instead. It just has an A2 handguard. Been thinking of replacing it with the A1 triangle handguard.

I did buy an Olympic AR-15 A2 rifle though. So now I'll have two 20" barreled AR-15s.

The Norinco complete upper was only $400, and at 40 yards I think I did ok with 55 grain .223

You can easily find them in the $500-600 range, between chinkshit, NEA, and the used market. Use whatever ammo you want. But to answer your question, barnaul is cheap bulk ammo. It goes bang but don't expect contest winning accuracy.

>>
>>33888408
this

I'd be surprised if you can build a poorly functioning garbage-tier AR for the $699 tag that S&W M&P 15 Sport 2 sells for
>American-made AR with solid record and great reviews from an old as fuck company that provides one of the best life-time warranties in the industry for it
>likely a mix of questionable cheapest NEA and Norc parts you can find, thrown together by the fucky wannabe-gunsmith that is you, using eyeball precision and hand-feel torque
even then, racing to the bottom to keep the price low you could probably have a complete box of parts that equal $700, but the tools required to put it together would push you above that cost; nevermind the time and effort required to do a decent job of it

right now, despite the weak maple peso, is the best time to buy ARs made in US -- counting on Hillary winning the election and people rushing to panic-buy firearms that may become unavailable once she got going, many big-operation companies went into overdrive to produce more rifles than they usually would, naturally expecting higher demand. with Trump winning the election, the gun owners settled down in the comfort of knowing no changes are coming, the panic buying never came and the manufacturers were left with a massive over-stock, which is why as in S&W example, they are lowering prices dramatically domestically and trying to export on the cheap as well.

>>33888485
Norc is reportedly a decent rifle too, but today it's $699 and when places like Al Flahery's in TO put up M&P 15 II for $650, its hard to argue for the previously good bang-for-buck Chinese option

>Really? Everything I hear about Winnipeg makes Regina seem like a utopia in comparison.

Back in 2011 Air Canada would not let airline staff spend the night in downtown Winnipeg hotels. Staff were only allowed to stay in hotels far from Native areas for their own safety.

Manitoba first nation groups called for a boycott of the airline. Virtually all downtown violent crime in Winnipeg comes from Natives and they were offended when their community was declared unsafe.

>>33891750

Pretty much you just place an order on apex gunparts for example, and have it shipped to aztech armory, after you place the order send an email to Marshall at aztech saying you order X parts kit to them for import, then just give them your address and pay their import fee(35$usd for firearms parts), they do large import runs so make sure you order before their next import, once all thats done they ship it to their warehouse in bc then you. Then best thing you can do before placing an order is calculate the total cost, eg. Parts kit price+shipping to aztech+import and shipping fee to Canada, once you calculate that convert it to CAD and add the gst.
>>
>>33891842
Aztech armory is bro tier and marshall is an rcmp verifier so hell let know what cant be brought it and what can, generally hes okay with grey area stuff once you do a few orders, i know hes okay with 80% glock auto sears since they arent gunparts yet, but he wont do straight up full auto parts, unless part of parts kit

Clearly he needs to add lead weights to the stock to balance it out.

what did you buy? I'm excited for you, Anon, post pics when it arrives!

Seems like a pretty standard build although I'm new to this platform. Aero lower, Stag Arms upper, stock and barrel. 18" 1 in 9 twist. Bushnell AR optic. I just need to get mounts for the optic.

cool, where did you get the stag Arms upper from?

for optic mount, assuming by bushnell ar optic you mean trs25, UTG makes pretty ok inexpensive risers. picrelated is the new slim model, skeletonized for weight reduction and uses two torx screws that sit flush with the mount, instead of the one knob of the previous gen that is so common to see on a lot of budget builds. the high 1" model if you want lower 1/3 cowitness, usually a bit more open field of view if you have a fixed front sight; the medium riser .83" for absolute cowitness. if your front and rear sighs are flip-up, no reason not to go with absolute

I just traded a remington with some dude who'd already done the build. I wanted to get into an AR before they're subject to any more legal fuckery.

I don't know much about the optic, pic related. Hopefully it's decent enough. That looks decent, thanks for the tip!
>>
>>33898756
neat. sounds like you got a good deal. hopefully the guy knew what he was doing and installed the barrel properly, the right torque, etc. maybe I'm paranoid, but if someone you don't know built it, I'd check the headspace just to be sure. if it's someone you know is competent, then you can decide not to bother.
agreed and also, every additional legal AR owner raises the total number, which raises the number of potential votes lost and general negative political and PR blowback for any politician that wants to impose further restrictions or bans, hopefully deterring them from going ahead with those.

lol, my bad, I just assumed a red dot for some reason. I'm sure it's a decent optic, it's purpose built and bushnell has a good warranty so you are better off with them than many other comparatively priced alternatives

That's a good point. He seems like a knowlegable guy with a really big, and good, trader rating on CGN but it couldn't hurt to have someone competent look at it before I start shooting.

That's another reason and I argue it on CCFR threads a lot. To people who say they don't want to bother getting Restricted because of the hassle, I say that's exactly WHY we need more registered restricted owners. We become a larger political force that's harder to assfuck.

I'm not opposed to switching out optics or anything else that doesn't work out for me. I really have no idea what I'm doing so it's going to be some trial and error. I mostly just want a 100-200m plinker/range toy/operator fantasy black rifle.

I traded away a really nice Vortex Viper for this thing which I may regret, but we'll see.

Unless you're not part of the "Aryan Master Race", or until the state requires it. Which ever come first.
