Socks.
You can never have enough socks...
Toilet paper, tobacco, and other luxury items you can bring with you. You don't know how much you miss the simple things until you go 9 months without them.

Always a choice between wool and cotton.
You can take more cotton which are comfy, but they get wet.
You can take less wool which are scratchy, but they get less wet.

I came here to post this.
>>33852321
I heard they got banned from the army, is that true?
>>33853166
Just a meme
>>33853175
So that was satire I guess.
M9
>>33853187
Wasn't satire. It was suggested that they get banned, but nobody went for it.
>>33853037
They can't confiscate it from you if you have it all stored in your mind.

Well let's just hope getting gear for troops doesn't become as hard as passing FDA guidelines for a new drug. Or avoid getting sued by FDA for putting "nutritional fiber" as a label on the side of the box.
>>33852371
>fucking dogfaces calling a poncho liner a woobie
Fucking plebs
>>33853166
Why would they ban a blanket that everyone likes? It's not expensive, and it's a versatile piece of kit. Banning it just seems mean
>>33853391
From what I heard, Pentagon had its head up its ass again. Something about cost savings and environmental safety and the likes.
That's just rumor so I heard.
>>33853424
>hmm guys we need to trim the budget
>well we could get rid of some of these incredibly wasteful R&D projects
>nah lets get rid of this universally loved blanket and make infantry even more miserable
The logic checks out
>>33853474
Hey, that's what happens when you let people grow roots and politics. It's even worse with other agencies like the ATF and FDA since they grow little feudal systems and have turf wars for who say what they can do. Not to forget how it's nigh impossible to fire anyone.
>>33852371
I was in a carbine class and one of the military guys who was a winter warrior said something about never ever take out your last piece of snivel gear. Said it was bad for morale or something because as long as it's in your pack you know there is ONE more thing you can put on when your cold. If you put it on then you know there is nothing left while you continue to freeze your balls off. Anyone else heard this? Make sense.
>>33853859
>have warm clothes
>dont use it
No it's retarded.
>>33852321
Well, I call them poncho liners, but yeah.
