Does anyone use ww2 gear to operate, Im thinking of using an old German uniform without the insignia and combining it with a modern chest rig and helmet
Pic related I have the waffen ss uniform

Don't take of the insignia, historical value m8

Why would you want to? I mean ya kewl A S T H E T I C, but compared to today's gear it's woefully inadequate. Hell I have repo Wehrmacht field gear and have used my friends VDV gear and guess what, the VDV gear is better.

Except they did you fucking retard.

>repro
Thats the problem. You are using shit made for reenactors, not field use. Get some genuine shit and it is high quality gear.

i go full retard and wear a reinforced m1942 jump jacket because muh snap-closure slant pockets and two-tone fetish
not shown: navy nd mk.v gas mask bag i use as a dump bag and a set of yugo mauser pouches to hold small shit because why not
I can be a Wehraboo sometimes but come on. There are way cheaper and far better performing alternatives, OP.

I'd be hard pressed to use original gear on the field, too much of a cuck about damaging it. I'd collect it sure, but use it on the field? No, but then again that depends on the event.
>>33847111
From where did you get said gear? would you recommend the company?

These guys are a little expensive, but pretty good. I bought a tropical Heer jacket i wear a lot.
Only problem I had was stitching on the pockets, but that mainly my fault cause I stick A LOT of stuff in my pockets and stretch them hard. Easy fix just to add more stitching though.

While aesthetically pleasing, a lot of people hate anything related to WW2 Germany in general, and the SS or Waffen SS in particular so if s was to htf you might make a lot of enemies just by wearing that.
You might want to steer clear of the German tunics since they are easilly identified for what they are, but keep the camo and MAYBE the helmet.

Not true. I own a m40 german tunic without any insignia, and I wear it in the fall and winter. I get a lot of compliments and "where'd you get that" from normies in public and at work.
Only once did I ever get called out, and that was by a German tourist at a deli I go to sometimes, and that's in 3 years of owning the thing.
>>33845142
ive airshitted in waffen SS gear and whooped even the most tactical kids asses.
I use this Swedish jacket fom the 50s. It's the same as the M42 tunic and the previous owner stitched on Heer insignia. I pulled off the eagle (so I could wear it in public) but left the rest on.
It keeps the wind of really well and keeps me warm on winter nights.

>sink hundreds of dollars into 70 year old field gear
>expect it to still hold up over time
>completely destroy your investment
as a collector myself, I seriously hope you're only joking. Those leather straps shouldn't be subject to real field conditions and use anymore.

No, i wouldnt actually take it on the field. But as someone who owns both repro and original stuff, its obvious the originals are made very damn well, even though they are old
The repro stahlhelms and covers are great though, thats part of my "kit" because i dont want to sink hundreds on a modern helmet

Oh fuck, what kind of whiny, leftist neutered tantrum did he have?
>>33850924
They're nice jackets, but the previous owner did a horrendous job at sewing on the collar insignia.
Anyway, the Swede tunic doesn't even look like a German tunic enough to pass as one unless it's been heavily tailored.
Fun fact: the German tunics in Band of Brothers were converted Swedish tunics.

He actually meant to mock me in front of his friends while I was picking up my meal at checkout:
He called out from about 10 feet away "Hey, where's your schmeisser??" I was caught off guard and I just said "what?" and he repeated the question and asked me where I got my jacket, so I said I found it at a surplus store.
I played dumb because I was in public, but a few minutes later I wished I had said "I left my schmeisser in my car."
>>33851814
I still don't know what a "schmeisser" is
>>33851860
An MP40
IDK why you don't just say MP40, it's like calling the MG42 a Spandau, it doesn't really click right away.
>>33851875
It was the German guy that called it a schmeisser, but like most euros, most Germans don't know shit about guns, let alone guns from a "forbidden time."
I think he just felt like mocking an American on his own turf, the cunt.

>operating in WWII gear
You aren't operating. You're not an operator, and if you were you would be given gear for your mission.
>>33850924
That's a good idea. What is that jacket called again?
