And why should poor provinces separate from the rich coastal ones? Do they not want handouts? This makes no sense. Balkanization only happens when the entire country was based on shakey ethnic foundations like Yugoslavia. China, on the other hand, is predominantly Han and their loyalists like Hui, Miso, Zhuang etc. The only ones with separatist tendencies are Uygurs and Tibetans who are universally hated by other minorities because they are dumb and unwilling to integrate into Chinese society and economy despite all the affirmative action for them. Seriously, if your Muslim ass is too dumb to use government handouts for education of your kids, but instead spend it all on a few goats and underage girls, you are at fault that you will never achieve a government position, but instead sell trinkets, kebab and fruits on the street forever.
