If you have a question about a gun, ask it here and a /k/ommando may be able to help. If you see a question you might be able to answer, please do so. The more helpful you are, the better the thread will be.

Why are Hi-points so much better than anything Springfield Armory produces?
>>

>Why are Hi-points so much better than anything Springfield Armory produces?
Because Hi-Point provides the valuable service of keeping Illinois' nigger population in check, while SA opposes the rights of white men there.

what rifle has the longest bolt handle with the thickest knob on the end? prefer one without a curved handle but if the curve is slight it might be ok.

Do Century Arms coach guns have solid wood stocks or is it some sort of laminated wood bullshit?

If I wanted to get into long range shooting with a bolt-action 6.5 creedmoor, what are my best options $1000 or under? What brands should I be looking for, and which ones should I look away from? I have never tried shooting past 50 yards and the largest rifle caliber I have shot is 7.62x39, I'm a poorfag pistol guy living in a small town so I'm definitely inexperienced. I've heard 6.5 Creedmoor is all the rage, and given the supposedly lower recoil than .308 I'd like that to be my first. Any recommendations for scopes and bipods would be excellent as well.

If you're a poorfag you really should avoid this particular brand of gun autism, however,

>Ruger Precision Rifle
Slightly over your budget, but worth it

>Savage Model 10
I chose to go with this, good guns and under $600 for a rifle that will out preform you for a long time.

These are the only obes I have experience with aside from the Remington 700, avoid the 700 like the plague.
Consider .308 if you shoot under 800yds, it's cheaper.

FWIW I went with
>Savage Model 10 FCP-SR 20" in .308
>Vortex Viper 4-16x44 HS-T
>Choate Tactical stock
>Strike Industries King Comp 7.62

Cost is at $1177 for everything and the rifle is an absolute monster on the range.
>I would have gone with a fixed power scope if I could do it over
>>
>>33843482
>Any recommendations for scopes and bipods would be excellent as well.
What range will you be shooting at? What surfaces will you be shooting from?
>>
>>33843482
>I have never tried shooting past 50 yards and the largest rifle caliber I have shot is 7.62x39
major redflag. long range shooting is for affluent people with patience. by all means work towards your goal. but get something cheaper in .308 and learn to shoot well at 250-500m first.

at those aforementioned ranges, you don't need to spend more than $300 on glass. but don't skimp out on your bipod. $20 bipods break, sometimes shockingly quickly.

>Ruger
I've seen the gun before but it looks so autistic... I don't know. I'll keep it in mind.
>Savage
I've never heard of this brand until somewhat recently. Are they actually well made guns or are they the Mossberg of rifles?
>.308
Well, I have a good reloading setup so 6.5 can be pretty cheap, albeit .308 would definitely be the better option for economics. While I likely won't be shooting that far for a while, I also want it to last me a long time before getting another rifle just for the caliber change to 6.5. Can .308 still get close-to the same accuracy out to 800?
I knew Remington went off the deepend, shame a classic like the 700 has to be avoided.

>>33843715
Outdoor range goes to 200y I think. Shooting off of range tables, possibly a tarp on the dirt.

>>33843734
I know it's a redflag and I haven't got a lot to work with, but I want to try it. I've got patience and I am no stranger to firearms in general though, I do have an AR, a shotgun, and a pistol. I understand things like breathing methods, correct trigger pull, safety, etc. I want to try something new and become more familiar with shooting at other distances, and have a rifle suitable for it.

>Outdoor range goes to 200y I think. Shooting off of range tables, possibly a tarp on the dirt.
Get a .308, don't get a bipod, get a fixed power SWFA SS 10x or 16x

Savage guns are fucking lasers, the magazines and stocks kinda suck.
>>
>>33843794
>200yds
>Considering $1000 rifle in a boutique 1000yd cartridge

God fucking dammit USE YOUR FUCKING AR15 DIPSHIT, that's barely out of handgun range.
>>
>what are qtddtot threads

Anyways, last one is dead. Im buying a surplus gun that is supposed to be blued, but it's reconstructed semi auto receiver was parkerized.

What's the easiest way to give it a blued appearance? I'm thinking of giving it a glossy black paint job

>>33843980

The point is you got shot. Seek medical attention immediately.

>>33843023
Technically, it's wood either way. Don't expect much because its CA. If it had shitty wood, look online for some replacement stocks. I do understand that you're paying for more stuff, but consider the alternative of having to deal with a shitty stock.

My question, related to pic.

What kind of Thompson barrel would be best for this reproduction? No threading, pre-threaded (if they match?), something else to mate the barrel to the receiver and boltface?

Anon was helpful in that thread, but many questions remained unanswered.
>>
>>33843833
I don't know much about scopes and it seems everyone recommends 10x so that's probably what I'll get. Thanks.
>>33843919
My local range only goes out that far but there is some BLM land nearby that I can go to and fuck around with but no actual increments. And I travel up north in my state where there's longer ranges sometimes. I just want a versatile long range gun and everyone goes on about the 6.5 so that's why I'm considering it. I'm almost convinced about .308 though since I'm kinda stuck here 80% of the time.
If I were to use the AR instead could I still squeeze out close to 1 MOA with practice and handloads? It's hard to use prone or sitting due to the pistol grip and protruding magazines.
>>33845406
Every Mossberg I've hefted has felt like complete and udder dogshit and I've seen way too many stories about them falling apart. I also have high standards when it comes to guns, even though I can't really afford it that well. I just like my shit to feel good and last long and Mossberg doesn't seem like it fits. Maybe I'm wrong because I don't own one.

>>33842887
For future reference, this is a recurring thread called "qtddtot" or "questions that dont deserve their own thread". The reason i mention this is calling it by the usual name makes it easier to find the catalogue
