Solid tank. Not using an M2 and instead using that horrible MG instead was a serious issue though.

The original M60 never saw service beyond training and they waited for the iconic needle nose turret to be finished before putting it into real use, necessitating a name change to M60A1. Strangely omitted a stabilization system for the main gun that was otherwise standard for the M4, M26, M46, 47 and 48, added in a later upgrade package.

Started to see fading utility in its midlife until the M735 and M774 APFSDS rounds came out which gave a breath of life into every 105mm armed tank in NATO.

Had an uncle that was in M60s in Krautland way back in the day, he agreed that one of the better features of the tank was the escape hatch that allowed you to relieve yourself without leaving the vehicle.
