Does anyone here have a Kel Tec SU-16 CA?
Is it any good?
>>33816797
>CA
I don't help communists.
>>33816797
>Kel Tec
>Good
Pick one.
>>33818830
Don't be a faggot. Their pistols are hit-and-miss but their long guns are pretty decent, especially that kickin' KSG.
>>33816797
someone made a thread about one when I was a newfag
locking lugs split in half
>>33816797
It has some minor advantages over an AR
>piston, not obnoxious to suppress
>cheaper than an AR that light
Unless you can't get an AR I'm not sure I would recommend it.
The SU-16C however is a cool option for a truck gun because the folding stock makes it maneuverable inside a vehicle.
SU-16B has an overheating problem with the barrel.
>2 cents
>>33819532
it's the most pencil barrel there ever was. not for magdumping, but for autist survivalists who weigh their rifles in grains
>>33816797
If Kel Tec produced more than 3 a year then we'd probably have enough info for you.
>>33816797
>Does anyone here have a Kel Tec SU-16 CA?
Get an SCR - same basic idea, much better quality: https://fightlite.com/collections/scr-rifles
>>33819558
>price is at least 2x more
there's no reason to own one unless you live in a ban state or have exceptionally poor taste
>>33819575
>>price is at least 2x more
>there's no reason to own one unless you live in a ban state or have exceptionally poor taste
I think they're pretty aesthetic, to be honest. Also, stop being poor.

THIS
I hate how they keep their guns low production. Fuck, they could literally outsell everyone in the liberal AWB states and there's a huge market Worldwide for them.
But no, let's just make a handful and call it a night.
>Meanwhile, kel-tec's old buddies at intratec
>"fuck it, tape these gun parts up and ship everything"
t. entire tec 9 lineup.
If you can even find them, they're more expensive than a new CA-compliant AR, and inferior in every way.

You two are idiots and have no idea how to run a company. Their manufacturing capability is limited so they keep the high demand items flowing and address the other designs round-robin.
I triple dog dare you to go on gunbroker right now and NOT find the model you are complaining about; you will find it for MSRP or under.
>>33819595
>blowing $1k on a dickmod SCR
Can't buy class.
>>33816797
Or you could avoid all of this and just go get a Mini-14, which are plentiful and reliable with tons of aftermarket options.
>>33819638
>I triple dog dare you to go on gunbroker right now and NOT find the model you are complaining about
>>33819651
the weight of the Mini-14 alone is enough to disqualify it from consideration
the only reason it exists is because bill ruger was in denial about his sexual attraction to "assault weapons" but still wanted to experiment
>>33819669
I set myself up for that one.
Plenty of SU16 rifles on there though.
>>33819715
Plenty of SU-16C rifles. Which are illegal in California.
There are two SU-16A and two SU-16B listed, which are California-legal, for budget AR prices.
>>33819558
Do they not sell just the lower and BCG anymore?
>>33819813
Brownells has them in stock.

>the weight of the Mini-14 alone is enough to disqualify it from consideration
The Mini-14 weighs about six and a half pounds. If carrying that amount of weight around is really unbearably burdensome for you, then you're not going to survive SHTF. In fact, you're probably not going to survive until you're 50 no matter what.
Sorry, but not all of us are basement-dwelling NEETs who get winded climbing the stairs to get our tendies out of the microwave.
>>33819813
>Do they not sell just the lower and BCG anymore?
As another anon mentioned, Brownell's has them, and you may get lucky and find one at your LGS. Reed's in San Jose has one, if you're in that end of the state.
>>33819847
You're missing the point. For the weight it's far outclassed by an AR.
Also it's cg is further forward, which means more fatigue.
>>33819686
>>33819847
Mini 14 survival rifle?
A gun that faulters from steel cased ammo?
Christ, what scenario are you guys envisioning?
>>33819881
>You're missing the point. For the weight it's far outclassed by an AR.
No, seriously, if the Mini-14 being one pound heavier significantly affects your ability to use it, you need to stop posting on 4chan and go to the fucking gym.
>>33819903
>A gun that faulters from steel cased ammo?
Oh, and in addition to not being weak and out of shape, I'm not poor and can afford ammo that isn't shit-tier bargain bin garbage.
>>33819812
Nearly all under MSRP
>>33819936
>>33819911
Wow, you should pat yourself on the back.
Take a nap and spend some quality time with your inferior rifle that you will not stop trying to rationalize. You earned it!
>>33819651
Or he could just go and get a swift kick in the balls, which compares favorably to the Mini-14.
>>33819968
>>33819936
If you're gun can't shoot any kind of ammo of its caliber, it IS a shit gun.
>wow, my gun won't shoot steel, aluminum or surplus
>My gun is a GREAT gun
Do you even know what survival is? Or do you just play it in your backyard?
>>33819838
>>33819861
What I want to know is why they have a separate listing for 223 and 556 for the lower of all things.
>>33820003
>If you're gun can't shoot any kind of ammo of its caliber, it IS a shit gun.
Another way to look at that is to say that ammo that won't fire in any gun is shit ammo.
I don't buy shit ammo.
Idk, but these thumbnails are destined for greatness
>>33820064
.300 BLK uses the same bolt as .223 Rem and 5.56 NATO, too. The only difference is going to be the engraving on the side. Manufacturer probably sent them an odd lot of receivers left over from a production run of rifles.
>>33816797
I used to have one. It worked generally well. Tricky to field strip and reassemble. Very flimsy. Would not recommend unless you need an AR-7 type lightweight backpack rifle in 5.56 and don't mind replacing it after a few outings. Also modt of it's features are poorly implemented gimmicks.
>>33819596
It's ktech and aries in a nutshell. We make guns when we feel like it.
>>33819686
A 2nd gen Mini-14 is like 6lb loaded. If you want something lighter it will either be a cav arms style ar with pencil barrel or a bolt-action or single shot.
>>33819881
> more fatigue
Are you talking wear and tear? I've never seen a Mini-14 bolt wear out. If you're talking balance it's still much better than the retarded m4 profile ars people run around with no problem.
>>33819903
You don't know what you're talking about. Any Mini-14 that is working correctly will chew through tulammo all day. It'll maybe hang up for half a second when releasing the bolt after you do a mag change but that's hardly the same as a doublefeed or stuck case.
>>33819638
>dickmod SCR
If you got the cash to blow on an SCR to begin with, then you got the money to get yourself some wood instead.
>>33820428
What is that in your pic?
>>33816797
+ really light
+ really cheap
+ folds up
+ takes AR mags
- bipod feature is flimsy, don't bother using it
- sights are what they are
- brittle, short lifespan and suffers significant wear from magdumping
It's better than no rifle, and it has some pros, but also some cons, you really can't go blasting with one like an AR15, it really handles high volumes of fire very poorly.
>>33819532
Well you're really meant to shoot slow with it so that's more a matter of getting the wrong gun for your purposes.
>>33819651
It would kick the SU16s ass in every way but cost and weight.
>>33819686
Put it in a plastic stock and stop whining.
>>33819903
The Mini-14 will eat any ugly and cheap steelcase you dumb faggot.
>>33819964
They are right, you are wrong, eat your fucking spinach.
>>33819558
Oh yeah, it'll be way better than both the Mini and the SU16, but it'll cost more to build.
>>33816797
I own the su16c model but replaced the folder with a collapsible ar15 style with pistol grip to satisfy my need for a non restricted semi auto. It is annoying to put together after a field strip but I'm happy with the rifle overall
>>33819903
>Mini-14 can't into steel
Yes it can. The Mini-30 has problems with steel.
>>33823094
Even that's debatable, lots of people have no issues.
>>33821548
Being this dense. Its an SCR you fucking doof. Do you not know how to follow a conversation?
