"Just a medic." Sure. In any western army he'd be just a medic. But kurdish militias still have practically no medical personnel so they have weighed the risk of losing a western volunteer to ISIS or Turk planes, against the value he has in their front line as a life saver.

Not after hastily dismantling the Ba'ath power base and effectively driving the Sunnis to rebel. Again, stirring shit by your own hands doesn't help matter.
