Same as for a hat. Measuring band around your head at brow height. 7 to 7.1/8 - or 56 to 57 in cm - is medium. Anything below or above, well make a guess. If you are into big hair and plan to get one of those whole head masks, plan for a couple of size more. Those bastards are worse than sand paper condoms.

just for some precaution if the filter is made past 1980 its probably fine.
if the filter is damaged in any way, especially along the seal or the threads disregard and trash it. Buy new filters on ebay, you can get them in bulk for pretty cheap.
