Making a purchase thru CMP, M1 Garand ("special field grade") or 1903a3 via creedmoor?
Or wait for Phillipines to send more Garands and get a cheaper one?

That almost looks like a Fulton?

service grade from cmp
>>33806159
THAT's a service grade? How's the bore?
>>33806206
it was a 2 or some shit. i re finished the stock, shoots great.
I got a service grade last summer. HRA, Muzzle reading of 1 and Throat reading of 2. Very happy with it. It was made in '54, so basically all it did was sit in a warehouse its entire life.

If your paperwork is in order and you can drive to Perry or Anniston, I would definitely go pick it yourself.
>>33806098
your insane if you think the flip garands arent all fucked up. its a tropical country and those guns were used. you might get a cheaper one but it will be beat to shit
>>33806429
Plus, any really good ones the CMP will cull and send straight to their auction site.
>>33806206
The only thing service grade is the receiver, bolt, and MAYBE some of the trigger group parts. Everything else is a rebuild of mostly new parts. Everything is refinished/reparked including the receiver.

Heading up for the National Matches this year?
>>33806555
a /k/ meet-up may be in order
I hope the phillipine ones are cheap. I wanna grab another one.
>>33806581
If I shoot well enough on my team I may go, so it's a possibility desu
>>33806914
Where'd you get that stock? That wood is really pretty
>>33807575
it came with that from the CMP. H&R service grade. I've been rubbing it down with a shit load of linseed oil and it keeps getting prettier.
>>33806914
>let me hoard rifles
Hitler should have actually tired wiping you kikes out.
>>33807397
Don't have to shoot. It's a good time either way. Commercial Row is nice to prowl.

>Or wait for Phillipines to send more Garands and get a cheaper one?
The Phillipine Garands arent even in the country yet and will take probably over a year to process when they get here. Since a CMP special is over $1000, I would just go try and find one you like through a private party. You should find some nice rifles around that price point
>>33806443
The correct grade Winchesters and shit like that will, yeah. But they do send out some real gems at times. I got a 5.8 Springfield a few years ago when they were going through the greek airforce rifles and it was all correct except for an IHC gas plug. That said, dont expect to receive a $1500 rifle for $730. It's a possibility, but not very likely.

>2 rifles
>hoarding
a thorough M1 collection would be 5. 1 of each US manufacturer and one of the rare variants like a Mk.2 Mod.1 or an M1C
>>33806914
They will be priced the according to the CMP grade they fall in. They wont be offering them any cheaper, they will probably even be more expensive by the time they get here.

I'm out in peoples republic of commiefornia, but this still sounds like a good reason to travel
>>33810926
I mean, I'm in Arizona and can't travel there myself
>underage b&

Probably too late but you can rent WWII era POW hooches during the National Matches. Sandusky, OH was a ton of hotel rooms because of Cedar Point. Best roller coaster park east of the Mississippi.
>>33814561
I always wanted to stay in one of those. They have new ones too. Built to the same size as the originals but nicer. Camp Perry held German and Italian POWs during the war.
What's the easiest way to be able to purchase from CMP?

Be a vet, LEO or have your CCW from your state. That cuts out the NRA match shooting requirement. After that birth cert, club membership and filled out sales application.
>>33814622
If your state has a shooting proficiency requirement for CCW
>>33814581
Here is a shot of the new ones. Sleep four IIRC.
>>33814622
C&R license also qualifies.
>>33814589
join the Garand Collectors Association
have a CCW or Hunter Safety card requiring live fire or otherwise prove live fire (IIRC you can just get an RO at a range ti sign a CMP target)
>>33814596
lol 2 dudes lighting up in one picture
>can't even get a USGI Garand from the CMP anymore
>>33814803
Most large clubs and ranges hold Garand clinics a few times a year with the goal to get your paperwork complete.
>>33814561
Sandusky here, fuck Cedar Point.
>>33815909
I only go because I used to play on the train that runs there. It came from Carbon Limestone in Youngstown and gramps worked at the mine. The last HK Porter narrow gauge steam engines made.
