Looks like manned tanks are about to become obsolete.
Fully autonomous tanks when?

VATNIK GO HOME

REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
>>
>>33802289
Shut up.
>>33802233
Tbh, it looks like just a BMP-3 with unmanned turret and some electronics cramped in to make it radio-controlled. So, yeah, it's not like that's a big fucking breakthrough.
>>
>>33802233
inb4 it's hacked and starts shooting at vatniks
>>
>>33802307
That's pretty much exactly what it is. They are also working on an unmanned BTR-90 frame.
>>
>>33802315
How good are the Russians at EM-Warfare in general?
>>
>>33802233
mhmmm

come back when you've got a few thousand of them and enough trained personel to operate them

russia cannot into full scale implimentation of new (10 year old) technology, this will never take off. if it does it will take off in the form of them spending billions on robo tanks that will rust away in motorpools
>>
>>33802307
There are warehouses full of BMP-3's. With the switch to a smaller number of Kurganets, the surplus BMP-3 can be made into UGCV. That's a lot of savings.
>>
its still just a huge toy without usefull purpose
>>
>>33802339
they installed norton
>>
>>33802307
It is though. If it gets destroyed then you don't have to train another 3 person crew.
>>
>>33802394
>Russia
>Training

>>
>>33802289
Make America Mexico again.
>>
>>33802373
It is hugely useful in the modern world, where even a few dead troops can turn your nation against a war.

You can deploy these, secure in the knowledge that the only loss is of material. Something that, depending on how the Russian's develop this tech, they will not struggle to replace.
>>
>>33802233
>30mm main gun
>Bradley uses 25mm

>Abrams/other NATO tenk uses 120mm
>Russia tenks use 125mm

why do russians do this? are they so asspained that they have to have everything be bigger
>>
>>33802442
is this bail?

Soviet adopted 30mm cannon and 125mm cannon before Nato Adopted 25mm cannon and 120mm cannon
>>
>>33802442
Are you retarded or just baiting?
>>
>>33802429

It's a revolutionary way to remove from the equation the biggest drag on the Russian army's effectiveness: Russians.

With Russians in your army, you have mistakes, corruption, crime, screwups, accidents, destroyed equipment, and battlefield incompetence.

So any technology that reduces the number of Russians that the Russians have to depend on will be a major improvement.

it's not really revolutionary
they just revived an old concept from the 30s
>>
>Radio controlled
>Shit hits the fan and jamming starts
>????????
I guess they would be partially useful if they could more or less operate with no comms and just recieve basic orders on where to go and what to engage, but since nobody can make land based drones really effective operating on auto its just an expensive bomb bisposal robot with a 30mm at this point which would just dispose of incoming ATGM's and APDS, nothing special , however if russians convert entire fleets of BMP2's in to that they could end up with something usable on the large scale. i think that smaller sized drones that can effectively navigate over the terrain is a better strategy of land based drone serg rushing.

Could you fuckers at least try?
>>
>>33806101
I mean that's actually a pretty legit concern, when those US special forces soldiers died in Syria or whatever it was a pretty big news. For controlling the public opinion on war having control over the number of human casualties on your side is a huge thing.
>>
>>33802233

Russia had these things since the fucking 40s.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Teletank
>>
>>33802508
Holy shit eureka! You might be on to something here. I would go one step further. Remove the remote control and let the tank run berserk in enemy territory. Use swarm A.I. and emergent behavior. These will be the equivalent of a swarm of ants attacking but weighing 40 tons each and armed with cannons.
>>
>>33803212
You do realize that interwar period includes the 1930s, right?
>>
how long until hackers commandeer these things away from the military
>>
>>33802233
>Use drones to drop tactical aluminum foil sheets
>Blocks communications
>Later salvage robot tanks

I think it's badass, but also might be easy to defeat.

Give them time. I bet they'll send them these for testing very soon. According to all these news stories, Russians are testing all kinds of shit there... even one-off devices just to see what works and what doesn't.
