Thoughts on Paul Harrell?
>>

Based
>>
>>33794317
Not bad at all.
>>
>>33794317
It bugs me a little bit how he makes every statement sound like a secret hint, but the guy knows his shit and doesn't deal in gimmicks. One of the underappreciated pewtubers.
>>
>>33794393
People would rather watch dumb ass fat redneck preppers with no experience regurgitate what they read on their survival forum than watch Harrell.
>>
>>33794317
Just started watching his videos a couple of days ago. Was about to make this very thread myself.
He seems alright, but he sounds and looks alot like Idubbz.
>>
>>33794317
The guy is good
I started watching some of his content after hearing about him in one of our youtube threads

Good information and interesting background
>>
>>33794845
Nigga, are you me?

I subscribe to both and sometimes on late nights when I'm nodding off I can't tell who I'm watching...

Okay, he has a sense of humor.
>>
He's pretty good, only watched a few of his videos though. But he's pretty legit and seems to know what he's talking about, and has the experience to back it up.
>>
One of the few guys on Yt that has actually killed a dude in self defense
>>
>>33794317
I like his videos, very informative and easy to understand.
>>
>>33794393
I think that's just how he talks, he self references it himself saying it's 'Shatner-esque'

I'm still not sure what his speech impediment is, is it the pauses?
>>
>>33794317
Bad ass, triple tapped a guy with a rifle who tried to run over his wife.

There's a spectrum of gun YouTubers that goes from, on one end, comfy delivery but not much usable information, to, on the other end, autistic levels of information with cringeworthy delivery. It goes more or less:

Hickock45->Demolition Ranch->Iraqveteran8888->Paul Harrell ->Nutnfancy

(iv8888 goes to the right of DR because, much as I like his videos and all, after literally hundreds of them posted over the past few years, Eric still seems mildly uncomfortable in front of a camera and has a stilted delivery vaguely reminiscent of an 80s porn actor)

Harrell hits a sweet spot for me because he's really informative without falling into the Nutnfancy extreme. So he gets a thumbs up from me, even though I wouldn't watch one of his vids to relax like I would with Gun Grampa.
>>
>>33795288
Although I'm more "what if"
Getting hurt only helps my case. Gun on gun, a round in the pipe make sense. Everything else is just a potential of a negligent. Fucking hell posting isn't even worth going through this capchta that was over a dozen skips and verify

Where does Ian-chan fall on this list?
>>
>>33795314
I'm not usually one for adding a bunch of arrows but Nutn needs to be on an ascended tier of autism.
>>
>>33795334
>>33795314
Oh, right, nearly forgot... I'd put him between Eric and Paul.
>>
>>33795334
Fairly high Autistic levels of info with comfy delivery. The most autistic info would definitely be c&rsenal, mae and Otha's are fairly cringey as well

Nutn doesn't give a lot of practical information but is high on the cringe

I think this spectrum actually makes some sense
>>
>>33795364
This honestly needs to be a 4 axis graph.

Maybe even a 3D one for the novelty of information.
>>
Alright finished watching it. I'm not getting over it I got a keltec. I might be called a professional too but I sure as fuck aint really professional with those things.
>>

Nutn isn't informational at all

Nutn is autistic and has lots of good info in his gun reviews. Are you retarded?
>>
>>33795473
The thing is, in an hourlong video, there will actually be five minutes or so of genuinely informative content, which was exactly what made Nutnfancy Abridged a valuable service.
>>
>>33795398
Are you aware you have a deadly case of the 'tism?
>>
>>33794317
>Paul Harrell has just decided you need to die by any means neccesary
>He's equipped with his signature piece and hes on his way to you as we speak
>the last rifle you fired is the only thing between you and him
How fucked are you?
>>
>>33795502
I am fully aware of it but if you are going to go through the autism of ranking youtubers for autism/ informativeness you need to increase your autism as well.
>>
I like his videos. Two things that I particularly appreciate:

1.) No corporate sponsors or shilling
2.) Is apparently speaking from genuine experience. He hasn't talking about it in any of the videos he has made for obvious reasons, but he has actually used his skills/training to protect his loved ones during an altercation, was taken to trial over it, and was acquitted because it was a good shoot.
>>
>>33795511
>How fucked are you?
A 7mm Mauser isn't a bad choice at all.
>>
>>33795511
Last two guns I shot were a 308 and a 96/11 in 7.5 Swiss.

I'm okay as long as I can see him coming.
>>
I had a chemistry teacher that said he was in the DEA but everyone thought he was full of it, he acts alot like paul so i feel nostalgic.
He was /k/ af and i was a fuck face in his class but i was his favorite, he'd bring up guns and statistics and probability, guy even said he was in a fire fight and missed all his shots as a way to teach us science is a crap shoot (i dont get it still) Dr. Sanchez if youre here i miss you :(
>>
>>33794317
Awesome. I like how his videos unintentionally look like shooting defense VHS tapes.

>>

He is a pretty big guy tho
>>
>>33795662

>>
>>33795701
Is he as tall as Hickok45 and his Son?

I will sat Harrell is in better shape since he was basically a gym teacher in the army and maintained his body ever since.
>>
>>33795488
>>33795494
His pure wrongness on the RAS-47 and C39V2 instantly discredits him
>>
His voice is kind of soothing. I hope he does another video like the miami shootout analysis
>>
>>33795763
That vid was very informative. I'd love to see him do a similar analysis of the Newhall shooting.
>>
He has a new video out.
Also, can anyone tell me what jacket Paul wears, I would like one.
>>
>>33795835
I'd call it a barn coat, my grandpa gave me his from the eighties.
>>
>>33795835
He changes jackets and explains in one of the vids, can't remember which.
>>
>>33795835
Think it's filson. He keeps his stuff for a long time so the specific model might be years out of production.
>>
>>33794317
His videos are informative and easy to understand; no bullshit or anything.

I only started watching his channel a few months ago, but he's one of my favorite Youtubers now.

450 dollars is an absurd price for any article of clothing that doesn't stop bullets, don't be an idiot. Maybe the best boots in the world might be worth it if you were going to put thousands of miles on them, but a fucking jacket? Naw.
>>
>>33796133
No trust fund, just employed

>>33796165
But a jacket made with strong stitching from quality materials that can last a lifetime is worth it.

I've had a Carhardt jacket I've been wearing since 1997 that cost me somewhere in the fifty dollar range, I think.

There are nicer jackets and jackets that do more but there is no jacket on the planet that is 9 times as good at beibg a jacket and thus justifying nine times the price.

If you like them that's fine, but let's not pretend a Sebenza does that much more than a box cutter.
>>
>>33796165

It's a sears field jacket, I have the same one.

>Spending 450 dollars on a work/shooting jacket

Yeah I can tell you're real smart at money management
>>
>>33796520
>I can't afford said thing, which means YOU'RE bad with money!

Maybe I can afford it because I manage money well.
You people are acting like I'm buying these things every week. A one time purchase of $450 on a quality item isn't wasting money, it's an investment on something that will get lots of use yet will last.
>>
>>33796624
Or you could spend the 450 dollars on literally Nothing else. There is no way that fucking jacket is 9 times more durable or rugged than any milsurp, carhardt or any other fucking jacket. Stupid prick.

Stop talking down to people who don't waste money on jackets they work in and use.

Comfy jacket lasts ten years -> only 45 dollars a year.
That's pretty good deal to not freeze to death. or do you think paper think sam's club shit is good enough for outdoors, faggot. Bike jackets, riding jackets, and even suits can go way higher than 450 dollars. Good shoes cost 300 easy. Don't even look at recreational gear, you'll lose you mind over people paying 500 dollars for a quality snowboard or dry suit. This whole derail is kinda funny since there are people on this board who spend hundres of dollars on guns they'll never shoot.
>>
>>33796917
Stop strawmanning you dumb kike just because you don't spend 450 dollars on a jacket doesn't mean you're buying Walmart shit.

This; comfy voice, comfy setting, comfy lighting, comfy aesthetic, highly informative, the fuddiest non-fudd opinions. I'm surprised he says stuff like "sometimes something is worse than nothing if it makes you more confident than you should be" then turns around and recommends .32 pistols.
>>
>>33799446
I have no idea but I like him. So probably at least mid range
>>33800974
Knowing the limitations of your weapon is something he tries to drive home as much as possible shooting someone with a .32 is that's all you have but knowing how to hit someone with it and knowing it probably won't do anything but potentially stagger them long enough for you to run and call the cops would be better than having a .357 that you don't know how to use and have never shot.

>you need to be in the military to know about guns
good b8
>>
>>33804750
No, but there are some things about guns shooting and tactics that a guy who uses them as an every day job knows about that academic types that can't learn from books.

For example:

When using the M60, Ian kept missing the targets because, yes, the sights on an M60 are pretty ass and the recoil makes it rattle like bucky bronco with two vibrators in it.

However a retired marine could.

The thing is, Ian was stubborn in using the sights and doing short controlled bursts while any conscript or volunteer in NAM, knew that single or bursts shots were pointless and instead ignored the sights entirely and aimed the machine gun by holding down the trigger on full auto and adjusting your angle by gauging the impacts. So typically you'd aim low or to the side of the enemy and wave your stream of fire into them.

Also many time students and artist depict kit wrong or know field/life hack uses of some gear used by soldiers.

I'm surprised he'll recommend small pistols in stuff like .380 or even snubnose revolvers.

His reasoning is sound though. Better to have something small you'll always carry than to have nothing at all because you left your carry gun at home.

he seems like he knows his shit and is speaking from experience i can respect that. the advice seems solid. that said i dont like the man himself. he comes across as an excop who doesnt think other people should own guns but begrudgingly accepts the fact that they will. theres the dont do x cause its hard to justify in court and that "dont try this at home im a professional" shit. the first time i heard it it made sense the next video was him shooting off a bench at a range and he still says it.
>>
>>33806519
>dont try this at home I'm a professional
That's a joke and he is pretty distrustful of cops becasue he has been fucked by them before, he has an entire video dedicated to times cops acted like part time rentacops and avoided doing their job becasue it was too much trouble.
