why do /brg/ always tend to end up as a /falg/ thread?
90% of last thread was FAL related

The Stgw 57 is battle rifle though
>>
>>33792929
Its state as a battlerifle is somehwat quedtionable since it doesnt use the RFN-Bullets.
It uses some kind of low-power cucked 7.55 type.

GP11 has almost the same ballistics as .308

-It doesn't eat your brass in comparison to the G3.

-Charging handle is in a location where a normal human can reach it in comparison to the G3.

-Building FALs is a fairly common, and somewhat affordable building platform. In comparison to the M1A and SCAR...G3 family can be cheaper with the C308 if you feel like trying your luck on Century.

-Used by over 90 nations so 'muh heritage'.

-This is subjective, but the FAL looks better than the G3 and the SCAR.

Some of the reasons I can think of people post it more than the G3 or M1A or even the SCAR.

For me being a lefty the FAL just works for me. Granted if I wasn't a poorfag and even remotely liked it I suppose the SCAR could too. Also the M1A for me was never even an option because for what you get in comparison to the G3 and FAL its not worth it.
>>
>>33793069
Also that pic I stole from one of you fags. Either planning on building a FAL from parts that guy out in Arizona has or just buying a DSA.
>>
>>33793069
But why not other battle rifles like
>Romanian PSL
>Galil ACE 308 (which is btw having a really good price value)
>SIG510 (I know it gets mentioned once in a while but much less than a G3)
>Every AR 308 (also very good price value)
>HK MR762

There are more modern and pretty reasonable priced battle rifles like ACE 308 or AR 308 that dont get much talked about.
>>
how to get hk rear sight on fal?
>>
>>33793095
Build one, DSAs quality has taken a dive over the years.
>>
>>33792900
Why do fags complain about people talking about the FAL more in /brg/ than they do in /arg/

>You guys aren't talking about the shitty old rifle that I like, you should stop talking about some other shitty old rifle

Fucking millennials
>>
Would putting a a wood FAL buttstock on a STG58 be fine or would it be very obvious it's the wrong furniture?

>>33792955

It shoots GP11.

So to let you guys know, I just got one of the SADF pattern 83 chest rigs from here:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/SADF-Pattern-83-Chest-Rig-Used-Good-for-R4-Galil-AK-AR-SANDF-Recces-32Bn-/112383438009?hash=item1a2a932cb9:g:RdEAAOSwE0JY~sJe

and it turned out to be one of the universal versions with the mag pulls in it. I don't know if they're all like that but I got one even though it's not advertised as such.
>>
>>33794127
Fug :DDD just saw this part on it:
>Some may include extras like a tag with a date (mostly 1987) in the flap of the back pouch or even pull cords in the mag pouches.

Looks like it's just luck of the draw then.

What's a decent-condition Egyptian FN49 worth on the market today? Most of the ones on Gunbroker look like collector's pieces and have what I'd consider to be collector's prices, so I don't have much to compare to.

How about a Luxembourg in .30'06?

Why choose an extremely rare rifle that costs twice as much as a Scar if you can somehow find one but performs only alrightish?

This. Make sure you get a non bipod cut handguard/barrel kit. Gumplumber's kits have type 3 lowers, put that on the R1 type 1.5 upper you look like a doofus. There's really no alternative short of buying a type 1 lower new.

Source: I did this. I think I'm just gonna grind it with a dremel or hacksaw/file.

Fuck that PTR is sexy, kinda makes me I wish I wasn't left handed.
>>
>>33798160
What's the difference between a type 1 and type 2 lower if there is one?

>>33798235
The recoil plate on the lower matches up with the rear of the upper. It's purely cosmetic
>>
>>33798284
Don't type 2s match up in the same way though?
>>
>>33798160
I don't understand the left handed G3 meme. It's less convenient to charge the rifle if you're holding it in your left hand: you have to reach over the barrel instead of reaching alongside it to grasp the handle. That somehow makes it a complete no-go? Or are you 5' 1" with t-rex arms?
There are plenty of other rifles that are just plain inconvenient/difficult to charge while shouldered no matter what hand you're holding them in, and nobody ever bitches about them. It's always lefties and G3 clones.
>>
>>33793069
>doesn't eat your brass
only relevant for people with actual reloading equipment and skills
>Charging handle is in a location where a normal human can reach it in comparison to the G3.
Reaching it is not a problem. By "normal humans" do you really mean manlets?
>>
>>33798284
Yeah, type 1 and 2 lowers are the same. Type 3 is where you run into problems on a type 1 or 2 upper.

>>33798392
I'm 6'3" and I cant do it shouldered, I feel like I'm working against my body, but that could be fixed with more time with one. I wouldn't say it's a deal breaker, but it's con for me. There's other things going against it too, but that's mostly taste.
>>
>>33798507
Why do you even need to charge it shouldered though? What malfunction could you possibly have where it's vitally important that you don't lower the rifle while clearing it?
>>
>>33798533
It's still more of a pain in the ass to do chicken winged than any other gun I've shot.

has anyone managed to install a disassembled FAL bipod without a vice or teamwork?

it's easy until you get to the part where you have to jam the fucking springs down in order to screw the legs on
>>
>>33798591
Literally no joke, when I had to do it I held it in between my legs and just pushed the fucker against my head while jamming the leg and holding the bolt

Don't stab yourself in the face but it's basically the only way. Once you have the bolt partially in you can just screw it down and the leg will move
>>
>>33793214
Some welding i guess
