Pacific theater is where America proved its mettle, US fought Nazis in WW2 just about as much as it fought the Chinese in the Korean War (which is to say, very little and only at the very end)

On the contrary, their most significant contributions were from their colonial troops; even the Dutch (a country with a fraction of France's industrial capacity or manpower) at least had their navy fight back to the bitter end and their air force did a decent job in the Pacific.
