Actually good meme.
>>
>>33789999
it's cheap but it's mostly shit, there's a reason why Russian prefered to have a 1895 instead of a Mosin
>>
>>33789999
Meme, but it's still cool.
>>
>>33790076
>why Russian prefered to have a 1895 instead of a Mosin
>300,000 M1895s
>30,000,000 Mosins

I think we know which design they preferred.
>>
If you want cheap and quality go for a Yugo or Turk mauser
>they're also not as ugly as a mosin
>>
>>33789999

That picture could have been valuable - if I could have read the damn thing without a microscope.

Gotta admit though; nice quads.

For $80 it's a really really good gun.
For $300 it's pretty bad.

How do people struggle with this concept?
>>
>>33789999
it's a meme but it does what it's designed to do. The fact that it's ridiculously prolific is proof that it's a decent rifle.
>>
>>33789999
It's good. Ignore the memers who say it sucks.
>>
>>33790088
> what are the economics of production over purchase

Um, anon...

Maybe we should..
>>
>>33789999

it's bretty good, just don't expect it to be super accurate or anything unless it's a m39 finn or a pu

also

>dem quads
>>
>>33789999
It's more of a meme to think they are bad.
>>
>>33789999
It's probably the worst widespread bolt action rifle of ww2. But this : >>33790271
>>
>>33790071
The fuck is that thing on the pillow? Not sure if chocolate or leather
>>
>>33789999
It's fine. Not the best, not the worst. /k/ is just booty bothered they aren't $39.99 a crate anymore.
>>
>>33790903
Lolno. Carcanos and M95s are worse.
>>
Its only a meme for 2 reasons. Its cheap slavshit that everyone owns and k is butthurt that they aren't 12$ a piece anymore. Basically they were so easy to get that no one really appreciates them. Theyre much better than anything Japan or Italy had at the time. Tbh theyre pretty accurate and easy to use, and the round itself is powerful as shit. I can tag plates at 600 yds with irons cranked up. I dunno, maybe I just have a good one or maybe k doesn't know how they work because they aren't slavic enough, but it doesn't really deserve its meme status.
Still I wonder how mosins are memed but not ar15s or 9mm, the most autistic creations to ever see light of day
>>

I live in Southern California, so it's not like I could find a range to shoot that all steel surplus ammo (or buy tula 54r that costs as much as 300 blackout at walmart), or a place secluded enough where rifle shots wouldn't bring attention.
>>
>>33793700
I live in Southern California. I think are like 3 BLM's where you can shoot in Riverside County
>>
>>33789999
Check'd.
Ehhhh kinda sorta both. It's certainly not the worst rifle and the ammo is still in military use and production. On the other hand it's not very good comparative to other rifles of the time and isn't even that cheap anymore.

Good quality Arisaka's are pretty much top 3 in WW2 rifles.
>>
They used to be a big meme on /k/ but then everyone decided to be a contrarian and hate them. Now nobody cares because the cheap ammo is gone.
>>
>>33789999
Rifle is fine.
>>
>>33790978
Arisakas tho
>>
>>33795907
They're some of the best rifles ever made. Even the Type 30 is decent.
>>
>>33795923
At the time sure, the action i super overbuilt. Isn't ammo nearly impossible to find nowadays?
>>
>>33795945
Isn't the action just a mauser clone with a dust over over it?
>>
>>33789999
choose a specific model and define good. they do everything a rifle of the time was expected to do.
>>
>>33795984
its not a clone, but it is related to the mauser.
>>
>>33789999
I love mine. I enjoy shooting it more than my Mauser.
>>
It's a fine surplus rifle that can be had for cheap and uses cheap ammunition

That is the extent of it.
>>
>>33795945
I reload, so no. It's not "overbuilt". It's incredibly simple and well designed, in addition to being exceptionally strong.
>>33795984
No. Mauser inspired, but different in numerous ways.
>>
>>33789999
Quads merit an answer so obvious I otherwise wouldn't give it.

They're good. At least, they're not bad. However, they're not usually worth it anymore.

They achieved legendary status because you used to be able to pick one up for $70, and they could out-perform rifles that were many times their price.

However, as the surplus dries up, they're just a $300 bolt-action rifle that performs about as well as other $300 bolt-action rifles. It's maybe a little more rugged, but can't take any optics or other accessories without resorting to serious bubba. Most people are better served by a Savage or a pawnshop durr gun in .308.

>tl;dr they were amazing because they were pretty good and really cheap, but they're not cheap anymore
>>
>>33791804
>and the round itself is powerful as shit

no it's not, Mosin cartridge is even weaker than .308
>>
>33796326

ITT: the death throes of /k/. We have been invaded by reddit and the community memes have been greatly diluted. I am drunk and want to say fuck all of you. The mosin is the best firearm ever created, it's killed nazis and will kill whatever you point at. If it doesn't work too well, you slap it up like a fucking bitch and feed it some oil when you get back home...or not. Rugged russian is best. Eat my ass.

A thread died for this. Sagee

The 6.5 was perfect for the things it did as Jap snipers preferred 6.5x50mm instead of 7.7x58mm.

The Mosin was a piss poor piece of shit when they were made, and a 100+/- years of use, storage and abuse didn't help function or accuracy.

A good example would be a worthwhile collectable for the 19th and 20th century collector, but the tards that bought the pitted, cracked stocked, mismatched cosmoline gunked surp shitsticks for more than $150 should hang their heads in shame and find a new hobby.

Moist nuggets are less effective as a viable weapon than a handfull of dogshit.
