What is the possibility of ever owning one of these beauties?
>>
>>33788589
>it's old so it must be good!

Why the fuck would I want to own some piece of shit from 1889 when I can buy a modern Ruger or Savage

>t-they just don't make em like they used to!
ok bubba
>>
>>33788589
Depends. If you mean just stumbling across one at your local gun store, it's probably not going to happen, but if you're willing to put in some legwork and talk to people who collect weird Mausers, they're not complete unobtanium.
>>
>>33788645
for the history, goyim.
>>
>>33788645
Are you okay anon? Where is all this hate coming from? Were you molested by a milsurp rifle as a kid?
>>
>>33788674
>>33788668
hey fuck you buddy the nigger store called and they're all out of you
>>
>>33788684
hes actually this angry at a great piece of jerry-killing history

okay lil guy.
>>
>>33788645
Go pee up a wall, m8. I know I'm taking the bait, but the appeal of old rifles isn't that they're somehow better than what's currently on the market. The appeal is that they're old, and in a lot of cases, connected to some interesting bit of history.
>>
>>33788589
If you're willing to settle for non-Waffle, the Argentinean 1889s are very cheap and availible.
>>
>>33788733
idk man, i think i want something actually used against the germans.
>>
One was just sold on gunboards not to long ago.

I have seen a few come and go on the classifieds there.
>>
>>33788589
I'd take an 1889 over a mosin any day.
>>
>>33788589
>What is the possibility of ever owning one of these beauties?
There were about 300,000 of them made, so pretty good. You just have to be willing to spend the money to get it.

I found one at a Gander & Mountain for $250

It was sporterized and some of the serials weren't matching but the receiver and barrel have matching serials which gives me hope that someday I'll be able restore it. Shot it once but the magazine kept falling out and the sites are misaligned so it'll be a project of mine.

is sporterized a nice way to say bubba'd or is it just not as bad?
>>
>>33790408
Bubba'd is more along the lines of heavily modifying the weapon with mall ninja stuff like fore-grips, optics, flashlights and the like...

Sporterized means he made the gun a bit easier to wield by shortening the gun (not the barrel mind you) and adding a pad to the stock
>>
>>33790408
>>33790447
Personally I think they are both equally bad

I dream of one day making mine look like yours. The bolt, so shiny and chrome, would make Immortan Joe proud

so if I put a pad on the stock of a shotgat am I not allowed on /k/??
>>
>>33790545
There are people here who don't even own guns so I'd say your a step ahead of the pack. I wouldn't worry about it too much... people might think less of you if you intentionally put it on but it's whatever floats your boat

As long as you didn't do it to a milsurp or something of the sort though
>>
>>33790545
No, /k/ likes trannies for some reason. You'll be fine, pussyboi.
>>
>>33790545
I bought an old JC Higgins that was missing it's butt pad, so the previous owner put a universal slide over "limb saver" pad.

>>33790588

I occasionally take it off and put it on some of my milsurp to make them a bit longer, so I don't have to scrunch up as much to take aim.
>>
>>33788589
There was one at Liberty Tree a couple weeks ago for $1500. They're somewhat rare but they come up.

Most shotgats are a dime a dozen and currently produced, so go ahead. Sporterizing/bubba is usually related to milsurp/rare firearms
>>
>>33790408
Sporterized = bubba there's no difference

so I can put an acog on a shotgat?

Cabela's. I see like two or three of that specific mauser on the used racks all the time. Also contract g98s and a Remington model 8.
>>
>>33788645
A reliable 19th century 8mm bolt action with a notable history is a neat thing to own, and guaranteed to garner the interest of fellow shooters. A Savage Axis is literally a trash gun that I would hang outside and wash down with my garden hose after I drag it through the mud during my deer hunt, and nobody would give a fuck what I did to abuse it

Modified carbines are uncommon

I found pic related on gunbroker for 300$. It's hands down my favorite Mauser in my collection and probably one of the most aesthetic and fun to shoot guns I own.

The concept isn't that odd, people use scoped shotguns for states with shotgun only deer hunting. Just seems odd to use an acog
>>
>>33796447
Where do you even find an original turk mauser these days?
Does it still have the mag cutoff?
>>
>>33798835

>>
>>33790408
Same damage to the rifle. Sporterized used to mean wood and sometimes barrel cut down so some lazy fudd saved 2 lbs carry weight when hunting with the cheapest rifle he could buy. Milsurp.
