Shot 500 rounds of wolf through the 92g. Two FTFs. Those wolf steel casings don't slide out of the mags very well.

Also my grip is making my slide stop not work, anyone else have this issue? I don't mind it because then I just learn one remedial action/reload movement instead of trying to reload with the slidestop I just rack it.

My next question for racking on reloads is...

>weapon clicks
>you think its a malfunction
>you rack
>its locked back because empty
>have to reload

If I'm inadvertently disabling my slide stop how do I know when to reload or when to just rap rack? I know there is a slight sound difference when the weapon goes into battery on an empty chamber but thats not a very good technique to rely on impo.

Yeah I was trying to see quite how dirty I could get it and have it still shoot reliably. Only those two FTF and I think it was a issue with steel cases not sliding across eachother very easily. I know 500 rounds isn't exactly a torture test but it is a sufficient test for the amount of abuse I require my firearm to endure.

I'll be shooting brass form now on, save all the brass and when I get reloading shit I'll have a few thousands cases to get be started.

>>33781579
Yeah I will try to train myself to grip the firearm in a way that it does not happen but other than this there seams to be no way to avoid the possible tap rack, realize its empty mag swap rack press.

Oh, I am not the same person that helped you.
I definitely wouldn't recommend the QFT book. It says "introduction" but it is much like Jackson's Electrodynamics book, where it is only useful if you already know it. The Large Ion Beams book is only good if you are interested in the development of plasma/ionic apparatus.

Strictly speaking, for a CS major, I would recommend you get heavily into C++ and Python. A good book for C++ is "Starting Out with C++: From Control Structures through Objects" by Tony Gaddis. It has many examples and explanations to get you though everything from the basics/syntax to template classes.

High Energy Physics (HEP) is mostly coding. Most of the time people who go into HEP will join an LHC experiment like CMS or Atlas. Needless to say, these are almost entirely coding. You will write triggers, analysis code, etc all day every day, and do little in the way of hardware. Fortunately for me, I had the opportunity to join a potentially ground-breaking non-LHC experiment. On this experiment, I am doing mostly detector research and development, which means building detector hardware, programming this hardware (FPGAs), writing software and simulations, analysis code and tracking algorithms, etc. Hardware experience is much more valuable in the HEP realm, but as you see, even then a lot of what is done is writing code. When you are building an experiment, you are the one who must do everything.

Before I diverge any further: if you love physics and programming, then physics is the field for you. Even if you get to your doctorate and no longer which to stay in physics, your opportunities are endless as physicists are versatile with applicable skills to many different fields.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm not very naturally talented and I'm not sure there is that many hadron colliders around, how competitive is it to get into that? And I'm still an undergrad I have such a long way to go. The fuck can I do now other than code and read. And shitpost.

Also, physics is interesting and I like the idea of it. But math I struggle with a lot. Algebraic errors and arithmetic kill me. I get concepts half decent but I put a lot more hours in than my peers and get similar grades at best. I'd be afraid to try and fail at physics where coding seamed to come naturally to me. Id finish assignments before the professor was even done explaining what the assignment was.

The energy frontier is the LHC experiments at the moment, of which there are several:
CMS, ATLAS, LHCb, and ALICE.
It is not necessarily difficult to become a part of one of these experiments as there are hundreds of universities working on them.
You bet your ass physics is tough, but if you keep at it you will certainly get through it. The best time I had in my life was sitting in my 9th floor office at a national laboratory, writing software and simulations for the experiment I am on.
Don't let YOU hold YOU back. It sounds cheesy, but all you need to do is put your mind to it.

Personally, and this is because I am biased, I would suggest majoring in Physics and getting a minor in either Computer Science or 'General Mathematics'. It is very possible to double major in Physics and Mathematics (in 4 years), but you really have to love those abstract upper level math courses to do so.
The programming is then self-taught, and obtained by doing research.
If research is not your thing, then stay your course, because the only way to break out once you have started is to go for the higher degrees, MA/PhD (more PhD), to become extremely marketable.

I am probably the worst person to ask about book recommendations, since I hardly ever read the textbooks. It all really depends on how far you want to get into the physics/math. A good undergraduate text is Giancoli's Physics for Scientist and Engineers. It is a sweeping book which covers everything from kinematics to thermo, electricity and magnetism, and some modern physics. It never goes too far into mathematics, but gives you a very broad foundation on which to build your physics knowledge. If you want the real hard-core stuff, you go straight to Landau and Lifshitz. There are many books, all very dense, which covers the major topic of physics in detail: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Course_of_Theoretical_Physics

Hey guys I didn't want to make a whole thread for this but I figured this would be a good place to ask.

I'm noguns and recently was mugged. I want to get a compact handgun to pocket carry. I was thinking about picking up pic related. Anyone have experience with them? It will be my first firearm.
>>

Nano's aren't that good compared to the majority of the market's offerings for a single stack 9mm.

The Shield, Glock 43 and Walther PPS are generally the better single stack 9's out there. Also, it's in my opinion that people can carry a bigger gun than a single stack. Try looking for a compact double stack at the least like the M&P9C or Glock 26.

Hate to upset the /pbg/ hivemind but the pocket pistols Beretta makes are garbage.
>>
>>33787313
Agreed. The PX4 and M9 are bomb, the Nano...not so much.

I don't think anyone here would vouch for the Nano anyways, same way Sigfags don't tout the P290RS.
>>
>>33787268
>>33787313
Do you guys have experience with the Nano, and can you give actual reasons other than "it's bad"?

I don't really want a double stack. I want it to be as thin as possible. The thing that attracts me to the nano is it's size and how streamlined it is. There's nothing really overly protruding on it that would snag in a pocket. I also kind of just like the design of the gun.

One last pic of the A400 before bed.

I know it isn't unique to this gun, but the whole floating a shell on top of the carrier thing is pretty cool. Not as cool as the UGB25's space magic, but still cool.

>slide doesn't lock open on last round
>no sight options
>no aftermarket
>barely anyone makes a holster for it

>I don't really want a double stack.

I get that but understand that single stacks aren't easy to shoot and 7-8 rounds won't do you good if you happen to have to shoot multiple attackers. They're very convinient to carry but they absolutely suck to shoot defensively. It can be done don't get me wrong but you won't be wishing you had a smaller gun in a fight.

Hate saying this but you can carry a bigger gun like a Glock 26. It's only thicker which is not a factor with conceal carry when you have a holster that helps suck the gun into your body. Grip length is the major factor that comes into play.

fwiw, I carry a PX4 Compact Carry in a t shirt and jeans everyday.

Literally all of this is incorrect...

I don't see any of those things as a really big deal in a "get off me gun"
I have 9 pistols, but I carry my Kel-tec p3at 80% of the time.
That being said, don't get a pocket pistol for your first gun. They are rough to shoot, and your going to want something you enjoy shooting first.
>>
>>33787587
I want something that is very concealable to protect myself, not a toy.

Also, this will be the first gun I own, but it's certainly not the first gun I've shot.

Again those things he mentioned aren't even true.

How often do new 92/m9 come scratched from the factory? I work at my LGS and there's a M9A3 that I can get at cost. I really like everything about the gun but the slide has a scratch on the top that goes to the metal. There's also another line near the safety. The M9A3 is out of stock everywhere probably because of the factory move, so I can't just order another. I know that scratches are just cosmetic, but for over $800, it bothers me. Should I just buy it anyway?

>How often do new 92/m9 come scratched from the factory?

surprisingly often. I work inna fun store and love berettas, but I still detail strip one to check for damage before purchasing. It's almost never something that would effect function in any way, but if you're as autistic as me it can be a deal breaker
>>
>>33788046
My store doesn't order a lot of Berettas so I don't get to see them often. I read online that 92 in general come scratched often, but nothing about M9A3 specifically. I'm also super autistic about scratches on new guns.

Strange.

I've owned 3 brand new 92's over the years. Never had a scratch on them.
>>
>>33788055

I couldn't tell you anything about the m9a3, as I've yet to see one in stock with either of my two distributors, despite checking at least every week, but yeah, almost all 92's/m9's/84's/81's I've seen will have some sort of scratches or scuffs and I have no idea why
>>
>>33788104
That's why I'm leaning towards getting it despite being an autist about scratches. We got a few M9A3 fall of last year and haven't seen any since. The last one was stashed away for employees. The trigger is so smooth for a factory gun, it can beat Sig Legions if the break was crisper. All of the features just make it a good deal.
