So I'm hoping to buy my first gun this summer and im strongly considering the Mossberg 500 Scorpion. What are your guys thoughts and/or opinions. Or recommendations
I was kinda pussy out by the recoil at first, but a year into shooting shotgun competivie with about 500 to 600 rd
It's all good now
And I highly recommend not to get a pistol grip, it's just not easy to handle a pistol grip shotgun

Skip all the bolt on nonsense.

I picked up a Mossberg 590A1 as my first shotgun yesterday. The 20" barrel version has been calling to me over the years and I like the parkerized finish. The material upgrade to the safety and trigger assembly from polymer to aluminum feels good too.

Agreed. Prolly best to just go with the standard 500 18.5bbl. also I would avoid a pistol grip on a 500, fucks the point with a tang safety?

>Pistol grip on a shotgun
>Pistol grip on a MOSSBERG shotgun
Just get a 590 if you ever want to use the safety

synthetic 500, or if you like more weight/softer recoil, 590.

590 owner here. i don't like pistol grip on it because it makes reaching the pump release (located left of the trigger guard) somewhat awkward to hit. (right handed). but otherwise everything about the gun rocks, great extractors, ambidex safety.

Here's the stock from my first shotgun. You can find decent used 500s on GB for around 200 FYI. 500s are great but I've since sold the only one I bought new and now own (3) used 590/500s. You can also look for a western field or coast to coast 12ga too as those were store brand 500s.

>all this hate on pistol grip stocks
The fuck is wrong with you people?
Did Elmer have a seminar recently?
Controlling my 590a1 is just as easy if not easier with a pistol grip stock, with the added benefit of being adjustable.

OP I'd grab a bare 500/590/590a1 and add as you go. I'm looking at that same stock to replace the old ATI one mine came with but I haven't heard much about them yet. And a heatshield might not be as beneficial as you think.

I don't see the point in spending much in a home defense shotgun. You can buy a maverick 88 7/8+1 extended tub, throw that cheap stock on there and a flashlight and it's g2g. also mavrick 88 safety makes more sense for pistol grip

you need more experience with other types of shotguns and grips/stocks. inb4 you have. you obviously haven't, otherwise you wouldnt be heralding a pistol grip on a mossjew because it really is garbage. pistol grip stocks are fine, just not on the mossberg

get on my level, rook

its a low profile light. i was trying it on top of the receiver instead of barrel end. made a cool shadow but would not recommend

Not that version, whatever the hell they were thinking. All it's missing is a molon labe engraving.
