Get a new Tikka if you want a new gun, most bang for your buck but if your budget is tight get a husqvarna(If they are as available as they are in Sweden), tikka or sako those brands never gets old if they are maintained.
>>
Any surplus bolt action can kill most anything on the planet for dirt cheap, and resale value only goes up.
>>
>>33768860
He has to buy an old tikka or sako if he wants cheap used stuff. They don't have Huskvarna.
>>
>>33768797

Tikka M55 series is also something to consider, they are usually cheaper than T3 used.

Need any links for gun shops?
>>
>>33768827

Not op but what chambering would you guys recommend? Also would i be best to just stay with the black synthetic stock or are their other options besides the same thing in wood flavor?

savage axis
>>

.308 is p much a jack of all trades, 6,5 swedish is also good

.222, .223 or .243 for birbs

You guys are retarded and have probably never hunted.

Dropping over 1K babis first durr rifle is ludacris.

Still with a sporter enfield/mosin or decent budget gun like savage axis or similar in your country.

Something in a 30 calibre that you dont mind dragging thru the bush.

Tikka in a metric calibre.

I could have bougt a used husqvarna 1900 or 1640 for like 50-100 bucks but I wanted a rifle with dbm and in 308 and most used cheap rifles in sweden are in 30-06 or 9,3x62 so I said fuck it and bought a brand new T3x

>faggot suggesting worn out shit for someone else, because worn out shit is all he can afford.

Don't bother with worn out shit. Low cost new production rifles eliminiate the potetial of poor shots that wound animals. The other potential is having shit aim, which is something fixable.
>>
>>33768994

I suggested a low cost new production rifle you mong. Read before posting.
>>
>>33768984
There's absolutely nothing wrong with 30 06. The 3006 is significantly stronger than 308 having about 4k joules in 180 grain whereas 308 has about 3500.

Buy once, cry once. Life isn't a video game where you have to start out with cheap stuff and work up to decent gear. It's cheaper to just buy good gear up front if you can afford it and plan to use it.

op may have a hard time finding a enfield where he lives but our Canadian rangers still use them as polar bear defense up north

op there are some really common guns here in Canada that come from where you live

finish mosin nagant
Norwegian 98k conversions to 30-06
lots and lots of rolling blocks in various calibers

good luck!

This, Tikka is the cheaper brand of Sako. Not like it does much, great rifles and great value, by all means. Big aftermarket too.
My only real gripe with them is the few plastic parts there are (admittedly a bit of personal preference) and that they do not have short actions.
I'd say the Howa 1500 or Weatherby Vanguard (same action, though I believe Weatherby uses a different trigger) is a solid choice too. Comes with long and short actions, great aftermarket on them, great value, and all around great rifles to use.
>>
wait

no one has asked op what local laws are and WHAT he is hunting

.308 rabbit hunting?

Moist Nugget, hyvä veli.
That's how I started, and I've been happy w/ my purchase. The ammo is still cheap & aplenty.

Later on I got Vepr in .308. Sweet little "almost Dragunov", accurate and comfy to hold.

Do you mean the Tigr, or one of those other ones?
I've been curious about the Super in .223 for a fucking around-gun and taking wee bitty small game.

Pic somewhat related to the thread, it's my hunting rifle: Weatherby Vanguard S2 .308 in a GRS Berserk stock. Works fine for seal, goose, seabirds and presumably moose too - I'll see about getting on that this autumn.
>>
>>33768797
It's been noted already but get a husqvarna model 1640/1600 or 1900 in whatever calibre will suit your intended game. 1640/1600 series rifles have the same action (1640, a modified controlled feed small ring mauser) where the 1640 rifle has a 24" barrel and the 1600 has a 20.5" barrel. The 1900 series are push feed and I've never handled one, but have heard great things.
>>
If you can get them get a stainless Howa 1500, you won't regret it. Also what you hunting?
>>
>>33771894
Also OP, don't stress to much, you can't really go wrong with most bolt actions, my Grandads been killing reds ever since he was born and he only ever owned a .303 carbine.
>>
>>33768797
Tikka t3, vepr, SVD
depends on your budget OP

Sweden here i got a FNAR as my moose rifle.
I plan on getting a Tikka t3x varmint in 6.5x55 after i get my beneli m2
>>
30 cal and light. Also consider where you are hunting from. I took me almost 3 painfully long minutest to quietly bring my 54r Verp to my shoulder in a small box blind last winter. So a short barrel might fit your needs better

>Do you mean the Tigr, or one of those other ones?
No. Vepr.
Tigr is a "real" SVD. Vepr a sporterized AK with heavier receiver.
>>
>>33772253
Strictly, they're built on RPK style receivers (notice the reinforced trunnion).

This is advantageous for their shotguns as they're overgassed so they can eat the weakest birdshot loads, while not getting battered since the receiver is so strong. For the rifles, the more rigid receiver has an accuracy advantage.

The Yugoslavs/Serbs built a lot of their AKs on the reinforced RPK style of receiver, because they REALLY liked rifle grenades and wanted to make sure their rifles could handle shooting a lot of them. Makes you wonder if Zastava is ever going to make a shotgun.
>>
>>33768886
>308 , 6.5x55 or 7.62x54R will all kill a moose, deer or Bear very easily with proper shot placement.
>>
>>33768886
For a first hunting rifle, a good composite stock isn't entirely wrong.
A wood or laminate stock takes some caring for, and if it's done wrong, the results can be absolutely grotesque.
If, on the other hand, the wood is not cared for, it might warp from moisture and disturb the barrel and ruin your shots for you.
I'm not saying that you need to be some wood wizard to take care of your stock, but you definitely want to know how instead of being the guy that slathers on a bucket of boiled linseed oil every year and proudly proclaims "that'll do it". It really isn't my business what other people do with their guns, but still it irks me.
Composite, meanwhile, is not affected by moisture in such a way, can be lighter, and you might not be as afraid of banging it up a little as a new hunter might be wont to do.

So I clearly favour synthetic stocks over wooden stocks for a first hunting rifle, but I'm sure there's a lot of other opinions out there.
