Pretty cool. Do they eat better than the army? Army cooks all they had were tons bricks of dried noodles and old cauldrons.

Pretty much just an updated design of what they had already to save time. Still inferior to anything Nimitz/Ford, QE, CdG and maybe even Cavour.

We'll see what they do with the next one which should be a completely new design.

The Type 001A Carrier (this one, believed to be named Shandong) is a slight improvement over the Type 001 Carrier (Liaoning). The Ramp is angled 12 degrees rather than 14 degrees like the Liaoning allowing for better take offs. The Soviet obsession with antiship missiles on carriers was removed making space for about 8-12 more J-15s (once again, Flanker knock-offs based on a T-10K-3 Su-33 prototype bought from Ukraine). The Tower was redesigned for better angling of the AESA radar. Probably some improvements here or there to the propulsion but really it's an incremental improvement. It should be ready for service late 2019 or early 2020.

Yeah, because launch system is irrelevant and aircraft capacity of fuel/munitions is irrelevant. Also aircraft type. Also AWACS not being airplanes but helicopters, de facto limiting your sight in open waters to 300km rather than 800km.

The 45k ton De Gaulle is pretty much the best Aircraft Carrier Class after the Nimitz (and well Ford) simply because it is CATOBAR, which means fixed wing AWACS, fast launches on 2 catapults and hugely increased payloads.

That's extremely unlikely. If it comes down to military action, they'll probably just use their massive army to seal off the borders and prevent Nork refugees from spilling in. We're more likely to start shit at this point, and even then it's a longshot no matter what the media tries to sell us.

That would never happen.

NK won't bite the hand that feeds it, they like making noise to get attention but if they push it too much, China would just replace the regime.

China wouldn't actually intervene militarily with a carrier, they'd do just the same thing as CIA, engineer an internal crisis then orchestrate a coup. If there was to be a military intervention, which is unlikely, it would be infantry. Their planes wouldn't even need to launch from a carrier, they could just use land bases right next door.

And Chinese subs are likely decades more sophisticated than NK subs so it's not getting sunk anyway.
