the cartridge itself is fine as a backup and better than nothing. But what nigger gun did you get for 90 bucks?

Take it to a range and watch as you jam every third round, just watch.

It's loud, it'll hurt, and you'll probably scare the guy enough that he'll leave. But once you pull the slide out of your face you'll realize it wasn't worth it.

Probably, though personally I wouldn't rely on it. If it's the only gun you have though it's the best gun in the world at the moment you need it, so keep it handy.

I thought about getting a Walther Model 9. I might still someday but leaning towards probably not at this point.

I was looking for a wartime PPK in .32 ACP and will likely end up with one in the future for carry and ditch my PPK/S in .380 ACP.

I did a lot of research on both calibers. For defense you're going to want something with either a Hornady XTP or a Lehigh Xtreme Cavitator if you want to meet FBI penetration standards.

The answer to that question is always: if it works and it's loaded, yes. It's better than nothing.

If you want to maximize your current gun's defense capabilities, just keep it clean and as well-maintained as possible.

The next thing to do is get at least 2 extra mags and load all 3 mags with the best .25 ACP that's available. FMJ preferably in such a small caliber/barrel combo.

I'll only add this

A couple of years ago, a tourist in my town got turned around and ended up in a terrible neighborhood.

It was Sunday morning, maybe 10:00-ish.

He asked a guy on the street for directions, and they guy walked up and started punching him, and all his buddies swarmed the car.

There were 6-8 hoodlums involved.

The tourist scrambled to his glovebox while they were trying to pull him out of his car and managed to get some shitty .25 caliber gun out.

He fired once, mostly in panic, and I think he shot the floorboard (it might have been accidental, as there were multiple duded trying to kick his ass/pull him out.

When the shot was fired, all the bad guys ran off, and within seconds, the tourist found himself and his SUV alone.

So, an old cheap .25 isn't my idea of a great self defense gun, but it saved that guys ass.
