I put this together about a month ago, TN polymer lower while I wait for my Nodak to come in (I have an A1 grip, its just not on right now). I'm hoping to take this to the range finally sometime next week. I'm feeling a little paranoid that I might have forgotten something during assembly of the upper, anything you would suggest I double check just for autistic paranoia's sake? I used one of the parts kits from Whatacountry to assemble it. (although the lower was assembled awhile ago off of a random cheap lower kit, I'm saving the original lower parts for the nodak)

Yep, gas block should be gtg, I'm more worried about the bolt. Vet co-worker told me about how if it was assembled wrong it would dump the whole mag. I haven't dissembled it 100%, but playing around with it, it seemed like the firing pin was in right and all that.

I don't know if that's true, but disassembly of the bcg is literally super easy and pretty hard to fuck up.

5.56, a matter of debate but you get better ballistics from 11.5 vs.10.3, depends if you want a brake, comp or flash hider and if you want it to accept a suppressor
>>33769261
5.56 if you're most people
10.3, 11.5, 12.5 barrel length
the muzzle device is dependent on what you want to do with it and whether or not you want to mount a suppressor later
>>33769273

Thanks for the replies gents, I was leaning towards 556 anyway. As far as what I want to do with the muzzle device, I guess the best option would be to get something that will reduce noise and flash since I imagine it will be a lot brighter and louder than out of a 16" barrel. >>33769227
It's totally fair. I'm talking about phases of life here. Everyone starts out with a basic bitch m4gery with fsb probably 6920, then you go to some railed rifle, then maybe a SPR, then SBR, more NFA stuff, then clone autism, then custom build with insanely expensive experimental parts, then back to uber cheap PSA builds, then retro builds etc. Time is a flat circle.
-Arfcom is the old man who's done it all and no longer gives a fuck.
-/arg/ is the young edgy hipster who's fashion conscious, but ends up being copies of his peers even though he tried being unique.
-r/eddit is the teenagers and newbies who are just discovering this world.
My point is that /arg/ has no right to be smug yet, because compared to arfcom and m4carine, /arg/ is like a baby still learning to walk. A year ago, most of you scoffed at clones, and yet here you are.
>>33769319
Not as of yet but of heard good things about the silencerco Omega. Would it be a wise idea to look for the shortest one I can find?
>>33769352
>Would it be a wise idea to look for the shortest one I can find?
you're compromising pretty much every effect of having a suppressor for length
that said, I plan on getting a short 5.56 suppressor
>>33769368
Yea, I figured I'd lose something kek. Which one are you looking at? How effective would a suppressor be on a 5.56 SBR anyway?
>>33769253
>putting theory to test on the battlefield, what's wrong with that? Totally bad ass.
>b-buh muh aesthetics
If big army allows some soldiers to put personal uppers on rifles, then SF is going to have some crazy shit for theirs. Most have probably not been photographed and we'll never get to see them.
>>33769347
too much autism to read but
>A year ago, most of you scoffed at clones
not me, ive always wanted a block II you can check the archives, seems you have the chromosomes to do such a thing
>>33769352
its a trade off between length and how well it will reduce decibels
>>33769391
im not complaining about aesthetics but it does look like AIDS. the discussion we were having was about what makes a block II a block II. one SOF dude running wild with random uppers and optics doesnt make it the norm
>>33769379
whatever the short 5.56 suppressor is that surefire makes
they're effective for removing a lot of the sound, flash, blast, etc you get from the gasses leaving the barrel. they often times make it "hearing safe" to shoot.
That may not be the case with your particular SBR due to the amount of un-burnt gasses from the shorter barrel. It will definitely make it quieter and more pleasant to shoot/ be around though
just starting my build, what an acceptable BUIS that I can comfortably shoot with until i have enough money for real scope?
i am building a 20" AR
>>33769427
Awesome, that sounds perfect. I think I've narrowed the length down to either 10.3/.5 or 11.5
>>33769414
But we weren't talking about the norm but what is kosher.
>>33769449
>one guy takes everything that makes an m4a1 a block II off it
>its still a block II
>>33769445
There are a lot of rail options for 10.3 and 11.5 to almost meet the suppressor when it's mounted like >>33768906
for 10.3 barrels you want a 9.5 rail and for 11.5 you want about 10.5-10.75
>>33769414
It's not even long or a hard read... Digging through the archives is way more autistic. I'll take your word for it.
>>33765528
Mine i think is 6 lbs unloaded without my red dot, grip and sling (still with irons). Haven't weighed it with everything together yet. Also no pic cuz im out of town and dont have any on phone :'(.
>>33769466
It's a not a "block II." Just saying not every rifle has been photographed. No one is forcing you to clone his rifle. Whether it's "aids" is subjective.
Have you seen the marines with T1s on block Is? And yours is based on a Marsoc gun, def not standard issue. Does the NF even have a Socom designation?
>>33769466
That's how it works. Pic related is my block II
>M300 delivery updated to Thursday
GOD DAMN IT!!!
>>33769510
My block II is better
>>33765487
At least 10 PMAGs for every rifle.
>>33769548
It looks like its part ar, part scar.
>>33769548
>not having the original Belgian import friendly stock
Your garage budget build is hardly clone correct with that optic mount, friendo
>>33769474
Nice, I like the look of that setup. Is that your "general use" rifle?
>>33769583
I cheap out on optic mounts. Could care less about a quarter moa between mounting. As long as it's a certain level of quality, that's all I care about. If I wanted nice, I'd go full sphur.
>>33769583
Oh, an FN doesn't sell those stocks, they get sent back to Europe to get reused.
FNH isn't just blue
They are also green.
>>33769510
>>33769548
Block II clone accuracy should be date relative. Back then, even less than 5 years ago, the AR market didn't have this many and affordable options for parts. Today SOF can basically make custom guns that are better than their issued.
It should be like:
>2013 clone correct
>2017 clone correct
W.e. socom is block 3 soon anyways. Some of you guys are a but late to the game.
>>33769615
Really? I almost feel as if the cost of shipping them back would be greater than the cost to just throw them out and make more. The more you know I guess.
>>33769628
Very true. I always thought clones were more focused on having the correct receivers, barrel, and rail with accessories being less important.
>>33769508
>It's a not a "block II." Just saying not every rifle has been photographed.
so what point are you trying to make then exactly? it just seems like you want to argue. there are plenty of weird socom rifles. when jeff gurwitch takes the entire block II upper off and puts on an adams arm piston and a vortex its hardly a block II anymore is it? its just weird shit.
>Have you seen the marines with T1s on block Is?
>Does the NF even have a Socom designation?
i get the feeling you just hopped into arg for the first time today. the 2.5-10x24 pops up on block II's from time to time and is one of the issued optics for mk12's so yes it has a designation
I feel bad for block II cloners tbqh.
The block II will never reach a desirable retro/vintage status like any of the iterations of previous M4s, M16s, and their related spinoffs up until the Block II.
It will be completely forgotten after the transition to block III has occurred.
beep beep block I coming through
With the new found clarity on shouldering a brace I've decided to build a pistol when i send my sbr stamp off to hold myself over.
I'm doing a 10.5 inch build and was wondering if i should go 556 or .300. I already have a suppressor for my 556 but I kinda wanted this to be a short hunting rifle for me.
>>33769703
do whatever however why ever. we cant decide for you
>>33765680
adidas actually and the vest is a 6b3
>>33769703
10.5"
Hunting
5.56?
Really?
Go .300blk
>>33769692
wrong
>>33769703
You know that ruling inly applies to mfrs who request that review, right? So you kmow it only applies to SBTac braces, right? You're not foolishly thinking you can go shoulder your KEK Notastock in front of ATFman and be okay, right? You read the actual letters and statements in ATF's own words, rather than trust memes on the internet, right?
>>33769741
800ft/lbs is enough for a lot of game and varmint
>>33769745
nobody cares
>>33769767
I'm looking at getting a new muzzle device.
Anybody have any experience with the VG6 line of products? Specifically deciding between the Epsilon and Gamma.
>>33769774
Well you probably should, because people spreading disinfo leads to questions written to the ATF, which in turn leads to asinine ATF decisions like "shouldering a brace converts a pistol into an SBR" in the first place
>>33769781
>>33769672
Point being that the block II program meant giving the operator options and it has evolved over time. Your nf being an example as it was not a part of the program and so weren't T1s. A lot of things have become kosher and you can technically put anything you want on a "block II." But it won't be the original Block II or what most people refer to as a Block II which is based around a RIS II. Chill your autism m8. It started off as a joke about how everything can be Block IIs.
>>33769742
>butthurt block II owner
Face it, the block II is probably the least aesthetic weapon the military has ever issued next to choosing to replace the M9 with the P320.
Honestly, I feel bad for people who have thrown their money at a block II clone.
>>33769842
>$7000 into block 2 clone
It doesn't shoot any better than off the shelf AR 15. Lel.
>>33769842
This particular configuration is aesthetic as hell. It's fucking stupid expensive tho.
Is it possible to build your own 8.5 inch 6.8 spc pdw like lwrc, but do it cheaper? How.much would it cost ballpark?
>>33769808
>It started off as a joke about how everything can be Block IIs.
so you agree with me then? >>33769170
>having a discussion
>haha chill your autism its a joke
>>33769874
Don't even bother. 6.8 is a dying cartridge.
>more raging clone autism
Neat
>>33769867
>13lbs and nose heavy
The only people who like Block IIs are wannabe operators and bench shooters. CQBRs are cool though.
>>33769867
>BCM
No, the only way that would be aesthetic is if it were a mk18
>>33769887
>i have noodle arms so i cant deal with a quad rail or a peq
>t-the light ones are cool tho
>>33769876
No. Block II is whatever the operator wants it to be. Refer to >>33769628
If you base it around a rail, then you've missed the point of the program.
>>33769903
>not mentioning the heaviest part of any rifle, especially on blk2
You forgot the socom profile anchor
>>33769919
>If you base it around a rail, then you've missed the point of the program.
the block II program was literally building rifles around a handful of parts
>>33769881
So let's say I want a pdw anyways, is it 300 memeout?
>>33769945
I got a 300blk upper in trying to sell
It's pretty memey
>>33769945
yes
>>33769942
No. Block II program is to give SOCOM operators flexibility. When it was conceived, the AR market didn't have our current level of customization. Block II is not a rail, but what we civies call Block II is based on the RIS II "look."

I have Vltor A5
I also have an adjustable gas block
Why I went with both I have no idea
I would be more inclined to go with a V7 steel tube for balance and adjustable gas block for function
