Soldiers fight on their stomachs, Venezuela is starving. The National Guard steals and controls a lot of the food. No clue if the entire military is in on it though. But regardless I doubt they could even put down the gangs in Venezuela under any circumstance.

They got ak 103s from the russians back in 2006, i was still living there back then and this was pretty bug news at the time, i miss when they used fals

Adopted the AK-103 as standard issue to replace their old beat up FN FALs. Around 2006 they bought about 100,000 from Russia and SVDs and optics. They also paid to set up factories for the rifles and 7.62x39 ammo. But those got delayed til fucking 2019 and now that Venezuela is a failed state shithole I doubt they'll ever actually be set up.

They made my dad learn to use and strip the old FAL and Browning Hi Power in high school, I wonder if they do that now with the 103s.

Got some pics of the Venezuelan military I can provide as a sort of reference. On paper, they do have quite a bit of stuff and some of it modern. Not sure how that's translating into reality at the moment.

Venezuala's military equipment is bought mainly for parade use, there's no reason to sideline your biggest supplier (Russia) for a needless difference.
