So I sold my 870 becuase it was a total pile of shit that failed to run low brass 60% of the time.

Would an old 870 be better quality? how are mossberg 500's?
Should I say fuck it and look for a Winchester 1300?

I'd rather have my shotgun with no plastic trigger guards and such
>>
>>33751542
failing to run low brass on a pump action shotgun sounds like user error to me. especially since I've put about 500 rounds through my NEW express without issue.

Can't go wrong with the Winchester 1200/1300. Underrated as fuck shotguns.
>>
>>33751570
There is no error. The shell gets lodged after firing and you end up having to mortar the fucking thing to eject the spend casing.
Its a common problem with remshit 870's google it
>>
>>33751570
>Would an old 870 be better quality
this anon could be correct, but

>Would an old 870 be better quality
yes, make sure it's at least 10 years old

>how are mossberg 500's
just fine famalam

>Winchester 1300?
another fine choice
>>
>>33751576
Do they have plastic trigger guards? I might hunt for one this weekend at a funshow
>>
>>33751583
I love my 1200. fast, reliable, and its eats anything i put in it.
>>
>>33751583
Simple fix in 5 minutes with $2 worth of supplies for the non-retarded.
>>33751594
The plastic is actually just as good if not better than the metal. Stop falling for the memes.
>>
Those are all good options. Without turning this into a 3 reply long answer, I just got a Tristar Cobra from the trade value of the 870. Find out what type fits you the best and work from there. Of course, Ithaca 37 is also an option. The Winchesters are great but I'd probably look at a CZ next time.
>>
>>33751625
I own enough plastic shit. I just want a basic fucking shotgun with steel and wood and feeds reliably. I know a plastic trigger guard works fine but It disgusts me seeing it on a "geezer's gun"

Some of us have class, pleb
>>
>>33751625
Also, the gun was sent back to Remington and they "polished the chamber" and it still won't feed cheap low brass/aluminum 100% reliable
>>
>>33751654
Lol, you'd never even notice it being the same shade of black an all. You're just being a snob, which is fine we're all passionate about our hobbies but don't confuse being logical for being a pleb.
>>
>>33751542
New winchesters are made overseas, You already know about remington, pretty much leaves you with one choice. My 590 works great, just wish I got the regular barrel instead of the heavy one, it really is heavy.
>>
>>33751720
>not respecting wood and steel on a firearm

Sorry pal, I don't need plastic on my fuddgun
>>
I swear with the number of times this question is asked, there should be some sort of sticky answering this exact question
>>
>>33751739
That's why I want a model 12 or 1897
>>
>>33751542
My semi 830 can run low brass so long as my stance is proper, maybe you had a weak extractor spring.

Also mossberg is ok, remington is shit nowadays and almost everything else is overpriced.
>>
>>33751625
When you spend money on a gun, it isn't whiny to expect it to fucking function properly, fucking Rem shills I swear.

Unrelated note, but pertains to shotguns.

I have the opportunity to pick up myself a Model 10 for 325 funbois. I'm thinking of picking up one myself to do a M10 Trench Gun build as buying an all original costs ballpark 2500 if you're lucky.

As far as quality goes, is there anything I should worry about? Its definitely got some years on it, so at some point, I'd definitely be fixing something.

My other thought is to just say fuck it and stick to being utilitarian in my funs collection for now, and buy a Mossman 500 or 930.

Either way, I end up spending the same, but I can't help but deny the allure the M10 has for me, all the sheek of a Trench gun, none of the issues.

What about an Ithaca 37?

How much you looking to spend?
>>
>>33752361
not more than 500
>>
>>33751542
Remington VersaMax. Adjustable gas port, not much recoil even with 3 an 3 1/2. Doesn't cost an arm like a new beretta or benelli autoloader.

are they bretty gud quality?
>sees price

Fucking hell
>>
>>33751669
Most of your problem lies in the fact that you're such a cuck you had to send it back instead of just doing it yourself. They probably laughed at you, jizzed in the chamber, and sent it back.
Polish that shit yourself. It's not a high end gun that you paid a premium for to ensure it needed no finishing touches to be perfect.
Let's face it, the gun SHOULD work from the factory. It's shitty that it doesn't. You still need to polish other parts anyways if you want it to be perfectly smooth so it's not like it's a big deal to add the chamber to the list of shit to fine tune.
>>
>>33751542
Get a benelli m3
It's a pump/semi
>>
>>33752446
No.
>>
>>33752423
They've got a pretty neat design, the shells load and eject from the same port, reduces the chance of dirt and shit getting into the gun.
>>
>>33752449
>1000 dollar shotgun
no
>>
>>33751542
I fucking love that shotgun from Lucky Gunner. Damn SBS bans in my state...

Anyway, I know it's not completely the same, but I love my Maverick 88. Bought it when I didn't have a lot of money lying around, but the thing never fails. Might buy a 590 now because I can, only so I can customize it a bit more than the Maverick.

I'm in the same boat, going to a gun show this weekend looking for a pump shotgun under 500$. Modern 870's are out of the question, it seems.
>>
It's an ammo issue, not a gun issue.

In years past- shotgun ammo was made with brass bases. Brass has a slight springiness to it, so when you shoot, the brass swells up and seals the rear of the barrel, then once the pressure reduces the brass contracts.

Lots of modern low base ammo is made with iron bases. So the same issues you see with steel case ammo happens with cheap, low base ammo. The case expands, and does not contract.
>>
>>33751542
Consider an Ithaca 37. No plastic and slam fire can be fun.
>>
>>33751583
I had this happen with my nova.

In this order:

Mossberg 590
Benelli supernova
mossberg 500
old remington 870
old ithaca 37

If you can find them, and if they aren't priced out the ass...

I held a 590 which was about $100 more than an 870, and the 870 felt better to me which is why I got it.
I know it's a new one, but it's held up very well. Put several boxes of ammo through it without any hiccups.
>>
>>33752993

>>
>>33753128
whats wrong with a new ithica?
>>
>>33753226
probably their pump actions costing $1000. At that point you get an old Weatherby or a gimmick like a db-12.
>>
If you don't have a 500, older 870, and some manner of Winchester pump, you need more shotguns.
>>
>>33753200
Preference is important and all that but im not in the habit of recommending models of firearms with such widespread issues as the newer 870s, particularly when the op already hates them too.

>>33753226
Nothing, but-

>>33753508
>>
>>33753200
I'm an 870fag but this shit has got to end.
>get a CQB weapon
>ruin it's CQB handling by putting shells on the stock
FUCKING STOP
There's plenty of room on either side of the receiver. You shouldn't need more than that anyways but you definitely don't need more ON THE GUN than what can fit there.
>>
>>33752993
If you really want a slam fire get an old model 12
>>
>>33752723
>>33752396
I'm looking to pick up a 590A1.

Breath the meme.
>>
>>33754410
Guess it's cheaper than a gym subscription.
>>
>>33751583
oil, steel wool, drill.... breh polish that shit quit being gay
>>
>>33754946

At least use a brake hone, if you must. Steel wool on a stock will give you an egged-out chamber.
>>
>>33754946

Did it. Never solved the problems with it. Its sold now so...

Ithica looks sexy as fuck... 800 dollar pump

FUCK
>>
I got tired of shooting my Mossberg500. Thinking about picking up a M930 semi auto. But im afraid of reliable issue comes with semi auto shotgun
>>
>>33751542
>failed to run
>pump action

Nigga the problem is you...
>>
>>33752361
I love my M4 personally. Sold my 887 nitro mag tactical because that was a huge pile of junk.
>>
Anyone own a Hatfield semi?
>>
>>33751720
False. It's nothing substantial but it's definitely noticeable, mostly in texture.

>>33752093
Almost picked up a model 10 a while back but I'm still holding out for an actual winchester 1897 takedown

>>33753226
Nothing, they're just pricey because they're built really well and they don't sell 50,000 a day. You lose the barrel tab that connects to the mag tube so it's not as sexy, but you gain 8rd tubes and barrels that don't have to be machined off. Of and the 20 gauges actually have scaled down receivers. Also they don't slam fire which I don't give a shit about but which some people swear is like having a loophole machinegun because they're retarded
