Why do people keep posting this video? Is this some reverse psychology thing to make it popular? I clicked through the video and didn't notice any flagrant safety violations. Yeah they probably sweep eachother once or twice across the ten minute video but I've had people sweep me on the range before and I didn't make multiple threads on /k/ ranting about it. What they do out there alone is their business.

at first I cringed every time they swept each other, but eventually I just started hoping they'd kill each other.

Speaking of safety violations and muzzle sweeping, how autistic should I be about it?

I've been at trapshoots where people rest their unloaded shotguns with the muzzle sitting on their foot. I thought we were always supposed to pretend that even though we've PROVEn it safe, a magical bullet/shell will jump in at any time?

It's like when you're at a gun store and things are busy and the clerk hands you a gun. There's no way he gets it out of the case and into your hands without the barrel pointing at someone at some point, but people don't freak out about it because there's a degree of trust involved there.

Remember, a large part of muzzle etiquette is not just about safety, but the comfort of other shooters. You may know that you've checked the breach, put it on safe, left the action open and removed the firing pin, but none of that helps the guy who looks up from tying his shoe and has a 12 gauge pointed at his nose.

I'm a new shooter and think everyone else will have zero tolerance for me. Even if it was a very quick muzzle sweep with a confirmed safe weapon, I still awkwardly manoeuvre the firearm to avoid everyone at all times.

It's weird seeing pictures of soldiers sort of cradling their weapons walking around when its pointed at the person beside him on guard duty or something. It probably is as you say, a lot more casual than I think (without pushing it obviously). Seeing the guys on the range with it pointed at their own foot was very confusing, even if the action was open and it was empty. Oh well.
